Offering premium river cruises, land tours, small ship cruises, family adventures and small group journeys around the world. You won't find too many Aussies and Kiwis on their trips yet, as they have only recently opened an office Downunder, but Tauck are renowned for the quality and inclusiveness of their trips, whether they are on land or water.
Viking River Cruises Cruising down the rivers of Europe you are sure to pass a Viking Longship on your travels. Viking boasts the most extensive fleet of river cruises vessels in Europe, and while their core market is the US, there are many clients from Australia that choose to cruise with them each year. In 2017 Viking launched their range of mid-sized ocean cruises - with just 930 guests this gives their ships greater maneuverability, allowing them to dock where the mega-liners cannot.

Beautiful, safe Colombia   0 Colombia: South America's Eternal Spring , NT, Australia, Jan 2026
Well organised, informative and a very safe trip to Colombia. Travelling with Tauck is a luxurious experience. The travel itinerary was interesting and varied, hotels were good quality, transportation was well organised and comfy and the food was plentiful (lots of quality three course meals included). Key highlights included a private tour of Boltero read more museum in Bogotá guided by Botero’s grandson, Colombian Paso Fino horse experience at Normandia Equestrian Center in Medellín, staying at the beautiful Sofitel Legend Santa Clara hotel in Cartagena and an impromptu salsa class in Cartagena. The local guides generously shared their knowledge along the way and were instrumental in facilitating efficient check in for internal airline flights. Highly recommended trip for those wanting to go beyond traditional places especially as tourism in Colombia continues to grow. Beautiful country, beautiful people.

Tip: If booking airline flights through Global Journeys, ask for each passenger to have their own individual travel reservation number. Due to airline system upgrades, Colombian/ Panamanian airlines at international airports do not appear to recognise multiple passengers booked under the same travel reservation number (you’ll be stuck at the airline check in counter for an additional 2 hours for each flight you take).
Spirit of the Desert with Tauck   22 Spirit of the Desert: The National Parks of the Southwest , CA, United States, May 2025
Just a bare glimpse (see our photo) of our amazing Tauck journey “The Spirit of the Desert”. It was fabulous!!! Colorado River, Arches, Canyonlands, Bryce at sunrise (2 of those), Zion, and the clouds lifting over the North Rim of the Grand Canyon. Thank you, a million times over! It was wonderful! I hope you have the opportunity to do it. Happy trails.
Warsaw, Budapest, Vienna and Prague 4 Warsaw, Budapest, Vienna & Prague , Korea, May 2023
The poor weather (rain, cold and wind) was a distraction throughout the tour which, unfortunately, had a negative effect on many of the venues. It made the tour guides jobs particularly difficult. Not Tauck's problem but, nonetheless, it was unfortunate as it negatively impacted the tour. When we booked this tour, we compared it to another Tauck Eastern read more European tour referred to as a Jewish Heritage Tour. As we are are not of Jewish faith, we felt that this tour would not be meaningful to us. In hindsight, we are not sure that the tour we chose would have been much different from the Jewish Heritage Tour. Most of the members in our tour group were in fact Jewish and the focus of the tour definitely was on the Jewish faith and the Holocaust. I would like to suggest that Tauck make more of an effort to differentiate between these two tours. There is much to consider in an Eastern European tour that does not focus so highly on the Jewish heritage.

On a very positive note, the local tour guides were excellent, very knowledgeable, courteous and friendly. Our Tauck Tour Guide was also excellent with extensive experience in Eastern Europe. One final negative comment, unfortunately. Even though we realize that Tauck does not make hotel room assignments, we feel that they can do a much better job of influencing the hotels on our stay to provide rooms that are more comparable to the cost of our tour. We have not once during our Tauck tours been assigned a hotel room with a view of anything but rooftops of adjacent buildings or a view of another section of the hotel itself. That's not what we feel we deserve for the money we pay for these tours. On a closing note, we are booked on our next Tauck tour to Portugal in October and plan to book a follow-on Tauck tour to New Zealand on 2024.
Tauck Grand Alaska tour 2 Alaska & the Yukon , NSW, Australia, Aug 2022
Denali was spectacular and thoroughly enjoyed the plane ride up over Denali. The trip into the park was also great and we did see some bears and Dall sheep way off into the distance. The Lodges were all Princess Lodges and were very crowded. Quite a number of us caught COVID so didn't make the cruise which was very disappointing but enjoyed what we did see.
Tauck Capital Cities Plus Niagara Falls 4 Canada's Capital Cities plus Niagara Falls , NSW, Australia, Aug 2022
Thoroughly enjoyed this tour. We had a great Tour Director and everything was well organised. She gave very informative information on the places we were visiting and had a great sense of humour. The accommodations were fabulous and there was a great group of people on the tour.
Best of Ireland 1 The Best of Ireland , Korea, Jun 2022
Overall, a wonderful experience. We must start with kudos to both Jemma and Hannah for all the support, help and advice you gave us throughout the booking process. Yes, we will book with you again and are now looking at Tauck tours to Australia, New Zealand and or Tasmania in 2023.

Our tour to Ireland was number one on our Bucket List and we were read more not disappointed. Vincent, our tour guide was a treasure of information on Ireland's history and overall knowledge of the political, economic and societal struggles that have plagued Ireland's history. Also, his knowledge of each of the sites we visited on tour was extraordinary. He truly deserves to be a "Keeper" for Tauck.

There are, however, two recommendations for consideration that would change our overall rating to five stars instead of four. First, the Westin Dublin was not what we expected of our accommodations. It was below the standard of other Westin hotels we have used over the years. Unfortunately, we had complaints that we registered with our tour guide and the hotel management. Compared with all other hotels we stayed in during our tour, the Westin was at the very bottom.

Secondly, the amount of time we spent on the limousine bus was excessive. We covered a huge amount of The Republic of Ireland's and Northern Ireland's geography and transit times to each destination were often at times too long. Due to the necessity to keep on track with our itinerary, we felt that the amount of time we were allotted at some of our stops was minimized. Again, a wonderful experience that took Bill back to his Irish roots!
Christmas Markets galore 0 Christmas on the Rhine , NSW, Australia, Dec 2025
We saw a lot of Christmas markets on the cruise and they were a highlight when not crowded, which they mostly were unfortunately. If we were the only ship at the port then it wouldn't be so bad but often there were upwards of a dozen ships concurrently, making the Christmas markets quite a slog to get through.

The ship itself was good but facilities read more and entertainment were limited (no pool or gym and entertainment was mostly a pianist and on the last night a local easy listening band) and the rooms are smaller than on larger ships. The ship staff were all very good so kudos to Viking for having excellent crew. The food was mostly great also but meal times are less flexible than on larger ocean cruises so you have to eat at the times they dictate (mainly 7pm and later which did not really suit the mostly older passengers); if you wanted food at any other time it was only pastry items like muffins and cookies (but hot drinks from a machine were available 24/7). The ports were mostly right by the main part of town which was very handy, and with the exception of Dordrecht every port stop had a Christmas market (or three) so that was great. Overall it was a good trip but we wouldn't do another river cruise.
Unforgettable positive experience   0 Capitals of Eastern Europe , NSW, Australia, Sep 2025
We have had the most wonderful and worry free experience due to booking with Global Journeys and enjoying the Capitals of Eastern Europe Viking river cruise, plus pre and post cruise extensions. Georgie at Global Journeys, assisted us in every possible way to ensure we were organised, informed, provided with options for extensions and transfers. Her read more advice and organisation made for a seamless cruise experience, giving us the confidence to travel knowing we were very well looked after.

We also felt very comfortable at all times with the care and assistance that Viking offers. Our stateroom on Viking Rinda and the always remarkably outstanding service from the Viking staff made our 21 days on tbe Danube, and in Prague and Transylvania absolutely fantastic. We would thoroughly recommend this cruise itinerary to all who have already explored Western Europe and are ready to see fresh gems of interest. We particularly loved Transylvania and Bucharest in Romania.
Viking River Cruise 0 Grand European Tour , NSW, Australia, Sep 2025
The Ship (Egdir) is a wonderful newish river cruise ship with great staterooms and ammenities. This was our first river cruise and most likely we won’t do another. The entire atmosphere of this particular river cruise was very laid back and may attract whose who are comfortable eating their dinner and going to bed around 8-8:30pm. There is a small piano read more up in the lounge where sitting down and have drinks while listening to the pianist. All drinks need to be paid for as the drink package of very ordinary local beer, wine and soft drinks are only available during lunch and dinner. Even if you wanted to have a soft drink outside of these hours you had to pay.

If you missed breakfast or lunch there’s absolutely nothing to eat and there’s no room service. Absolutely no entertainment at night. The first few locks was the entertainment while on the ship. Then after a few more locks that also became boring. We arrived back on the ship at 1:30pm after an included walking tour and the dining room was closed and nothing to eat on board until 7pm. That’s not a holiday or glamorous as seen on Getaway or other similar advertisements on TV. We filled the river cruise review while I board and gave our suggestions in how to improve the entire concept of river cruising. Let’s see if any notice of our suggestions actually become implemented.
Mekong magic 0 Magnificent Mekong , WA, Australia, Sep 2025
From our initial booking with Viking Cruises through Global Journeys this holiday was a breeze. Nothing to worry about with any organisation done for us. The Mekong River and Delta are incredible, so wide, carrying so much water traffic and life on board the Viking Saigon was luxurious. Food, accommodation and care were exceptional. Apart from the read more climate which was so different to anything we had experienced before this holiday was A1.
Viking Rhine Cruise with Good Friends   1 Rhine Getaway , NSW, Australia, Aug 2025
We loved every minute of this cruise. We have now completed five cruises with Viking with more to come. This was the first with our long time school friends who were also impressed with the Rhine cruise. Georgie from Global Journeys has been fantastic help for many years. We can’t thank her enough and can throughly recommend the Rhine cruise.
Delightful 0 Chateaux, Rivers & Wine , VIC, Australia, Jul 2025
Our trip was better than we could have hoped. Viking lived up to its expected reputation with food, drinks, service and entertainment. What was unexpected was the special dining experience off the boat at a chateau, which was delightful. The itinerary looked repetitious on paper, but also worked wonderfully. I would recommend this trip highly.
