“Lovely tour in the Southwest outback”
With an enthusiastic tour leader (& excellent cook and driver) Sean, 19 people from different countries had a wonderful trip from Perth to Esperance and back. It was the first time I hiked in a ‘swag’, and I wish I had discovered this type of sleeping equipment (50 or so;)) years ago... I’ll be back!
The timing of the trip was unwittingly good bearing in mind the pandemic. Basically the last night dinner was underway when we were told that all subsequent trips had been cancelled. The travel guide and driver were extremely good. The accommodation apart from the Copthorne in Queenstown were very good. The group was a good mix of nationalities and gelled together well. The Itinerary was excellent. The one annoying factor with AAT Kings was that they had a second coach virtually shadowing us which ...read more had never been explained either before or after booking. This was particularly galling given the most intermediate stops were in small towns with limited services. Why is it that AAT Kings give details of the situation of each trip and date but never says it will runs two coaches simultaneously if necessary. (GJ. Thanks for the feedback David. That would be because they may not know until close to departure - it's rare but does happen occasionally due to the size of NZ and it's popularity. Great you managed to get home before the borders were shut! All the best.)
“A comfort of Egypt and Jordan”
A great group of 12 travellers from Switzerland, Canada, USA, England and Australia varying in ages from late 20's to late 60's. We travelled in early March starting in Egypt for 11 days then Jordan and found the temperatures cool to moderate and weather fine except for a once in 100 year storm which passed through. Accommodation was high three star and in some places four star, always clean and comfortable with breakfasts included. The sights and history in Egypt were fantastic, the pyramids, ...read more Sphinx, Valley of the Kings, Abu Simbel and hot air balloon ride all lived up to expectations. The tombs and temples were awe inspiring. even if I couldn't remember all the dates and names of the Pharaohs. The desert scenery in Wadi Rum, Jordan was stark and had a special kind of beauty and the tent camp was comfortable with a great dinner and breakfast served by the local Bedouins. There were some tents with ensuite bathrooms but our tour had tents without and shared bathroom amenities which were clean and adequate (only problem was there were no towels provided). Our group never got to Petra or the Dead Sea as we got caught in the middle of the COVID19 outbreak and had to leave Jordan at short notice when they decided to close their borders. This happened on a Saturday morning and this is when we had problems as we needed to re-book flights and there was no emergency contact number for Global Journeys. We tried emails but as the office is not open on weekends we got no reply. We feel that unless an emergency contact is provided in future we would hesitate in booking through Global Journeys again. This is a shame as we have had wonderful service and the agent we have dealt with has been extremely helpful and prompt in communicating with us in relation to any queries we have had before the trip.
“Wonderful AAT Kings Tour”
Couldn’t have been better. ‘Southern Wonders NZ’ was a comprehensive and fun tour. I was blown away by the wonderful scenery in the South Island and the opportunities I had for extra tours like flights over glaciers and the alps. Our group was large - 47 people but we all got on well and everyone was really nice. Our Tour Leader Gina went out of her way to make sure we were always happy. She’s extremely well organised and everything ran like clockwork. Mark, our driver, was a competent and friendly ...read more driver, keeping us safe and happy. Our luggage was always delivered to and from our rooms so that was a pleasant surprise. Everything was fine for us! Thank you to AAT Kings and Global Journeys for such a well organised booking, follow up through the web and tour.
