Highlights of Morocco

I really enjoyed this trip and would recommend it. We covered an incredible amount of Morocco in a relatively short time. There were some long days and inevitable compromises that come with such a fast-paced itinerary, but I came away feeling like I’d seen a good amount of an incredible country.
Our guide was knowledgeable, attentive and humorous, read more and he was a big part of making the trip enjoyable. He was always happy to answer questions or help when someone needed something. The only thing I would suggest is establishing a clear meeting point at each destination in case anyone becomes separated from the group.
Generally, I thought the pacing was good. There were inevitably times when things felt rushed, but for the most part that was a reasonable trade-off for how much we were able to experience. The long drives were also handled well, with regular coffee and toilet breaks alongside unexpected stops at viewpoints and places such as rose and argan oil cooperatives. These broke up the journeys nicely and often added experiences I hadn’t expected from the itinerary.
The exception was Day 3, which I think needs some adjustment. We had less than 30 minutes to “see” Meknes, which simply wasn’t enough time to meaningfully experience the city. I would also have appreciated more time at Volubilis, which was one of the highlights of the trip. The picnic stop earlier that day also needs reconsidering. The location has apparently been badly damaged by a flash flood, leaving little shade or anywhere comfortable to sit. Our group generally agreed that we would have preferred to continue directly to Meknes and have lunch there instead.
One aspect of the trip I particularly enjoyed was the insight into Morocco’s traditional crafts and products. We saw silver-wire metalworking, ceramics, leather tanning, weaving and the production of rose and argan oils, among other things. Seeing how these products were made gave us a real appreciation for the work and skill involved.
Food was generally traditional Moroccan fare, with plenty of couscous, tagines and meat skewers, while the larger cities offered more variety. Hotel breakfasts tended to be basic but did the job. I’d definitely recommend bringing a bottle capable of filtering or purifying tap water.
The accommodation varied, but overall I was happy with it. At worst the hotels were basic but clean and comfortable, while at their best they felt authentic and genuinely memorable. The second hotel in particular was a very special place and felt like a “boutique village”.
The desert camp was much more comfortable than I expected but guests should be aware that the tents contain two rooms separated only by a fabric wall, offering little privacy. Several tents at our camp were completely empty, so it would make sense to spread guests out where capacity allows.
The minibus was comfortable considering how many hours we spent in it, with a good amount of legroom. The air conditioning did its best in the Moroccan heat, although it was noticeably more effective in some seats than others. We rotated seats throughout the trip, which kept things fair.
Overall, this was a memorable and rewarding way to experience Morocco. It’s a busy itinerary, but you still finish feeling like you’ve genuinely travelled through Morocco rather than simply visited it. If timed had allowed, I’d have preferred Explore’s longer Morocco itinerary, but this tour is a great option for those shorter on time.

The tour guide Doug Briegel was friendly, knowledgeable and where possible accommodating to our needs. The driver, Neil supplied us with lollies which was an extra touch we did not expect. The tour itself took us to the touristy parts of the Rockies and I realised that we would not see hoped for wildlife - however, we did see a Moose and her calf, read more and an Elk. While we did not see any bears, others on the bus did! Our whale watching trip was very successful with humpback whales and Orcas.
I was disappointed that there was no meal plan for breakfast. Most of the hotels had a restaurant but sometimes it was difficult to access breakfast due to the schedule of the tour. It was difficult to connect with the others on the tour as we did not have name badges but over time this became easier.

This trip was a dream come true. It was beyond my expectations. Ethan took over from Isabelle half way through our planning and handled the balance of our questions well. Explore was a great pick for Global Journeys to choose. Explore's pick on the bikes was great, they were very good quality and very comfortable. Thank you Nature Bike. Our guide, read more Pablo and his side kick David were great and could be rated 20 out of 10. They were the best we could have asked for. They were over the top friendly, professional, and lovely people. They made the trip so pleasant. Always caring about each rider and stressed safety and was detailed about the itinerary. The lunches were extremely good and it was such a highlight to see David ready for us. He was so very helpful with our bikes and our luggage.
The route was amazing, so diverse and had a lot of variety. Paths were perfect. The challenge was perfect. The cozy hotels and towns we stopped in were lovely, just perfect. The people in our group were a perfect match for us. When you see advertisements for this trip, they are so true, it is even better than the ads. Pablo and David were the best! Pablo was our biking guide. He took us to all the great places. Stopped at small village for coffee and overnight. Pable kept us safe. He explained our route, and any safety measures we needed. He was very patient, kind, and tons of fun. We were able to swim at the best beaches. He knew what he was doing. The read more pace was good. He was a hoot! and the best guide! David carried our gear and made the most wonderful picnic lunches ever! Great salads and wonderful, fancy, delicous food. David was so fun and upbeat and played music for us when we arrived. He fed us so well and the wine was great too. So fun. Pablo and David are the best and, if ever we could do this again, we would want the two of them again. Their friendship with each other was amazing. Such a great trip!

Guided bike tour booked through Ethan at Global Journeys whom organised our trip with Explore. 5 star service from Ethan. We had many questions and here answered them easily. Booking and links were very user friendly. Explore App was also excellent describing our trip. Now the best part Pablo our bike leader was the best you are going to get. He was read more knowledgeable. He kept us safe. And he guided us through amazing towns from Marseille to Barcelona. If you want a top nut litre ask for Pablo. David was our driver who seamlessly carried our luggage and our bikes when needed and set up amazing picnic lunches with wine every day. These two guys made our trip fantastic and we have amazing memories. This is a bike trip that is a must. Thank you for all involved who made our trip seamless and stress-free.
