What's the age range on a A&K tour?
A&K have a wide range of travellers - usually 40 years and above (we also accept children with multi-gen travellers)
How many people will we be travelling with?
Groups average around 12 guests, with a maximum of only 18 guests, however all will operate with a minimum of 2 guests, so that your plans don't have to change and your tour isn't cancelled or consolidated.
I'm a solo-traveller, will your tours suit me?
Yes. A&K actively caters for solo travellers and regularly offers reduced single supplements on selected journeys.
Do you offer single rooms?
Yes. Single accommodation is available, generally with a single supplement, with reduced supplements offered on selected journeys.
Do you offer room-sharing with other solo travellers?
No.
How would you describe the accommodation on your trips?
Hand-selected luxury accommodation is included, ranging from boutique hotels, palaces, manors, wineries, to distinctive lodges and other properties chosen to complement the destination.
Are there any extras to pay on top of the tour price shown?
Meals and drinks not specified, some optional activities and gratuities for the Resident Tour Director. Other gratuities are generally included.
Do you have the same guide throughout the trip?
Yes. Every Small Group Journey is led by an A&K Resident Tour Director throughout the journey.
Do you use local guides?
Yes. Resident Tour Directors are supported by knowledgeable local guides and specialists who provide destination-specific expertise.
How much free time will we have on a A&K trip?
Most itineraries include unscheduled leisure time for independent exploration, along with selected Design Your Day activities that provide a choice of experiences.
How fit do we need to be?
Physical requirements vary by itinerary, and some journeys include active elements. Travellers should be capable of participating in the activities specified for their chosen journey.

New to the Australian market in 2017, Tauck actually began operating in the US more than 90 years ago. Today they offer premium river cruises, land tours, small ship cruises, family adventures and small group journeys around the world. Tauck are renowned for the quality and inclusiveness of their trips, whether on land or water, so you can almost leave your wallet at home – don’t actually do that – knowing most things are taken care of. While the majority of their guests come from North America, the feedback we’ve received from the Aussies and Kiwis we’ve arranged trips for has been overwhelmingly positive.
Who travels with Tauck?
Well-travelled couples, friends and solo travellers seeking Tauck's upscale guided experience with fewer guests, more personalised attention and greater flexibility.
What's the age range on a Tauck tour?
Primarily mature travellers, generally aged 50 and over.
How many people will we be travelling with?
Small Group journeys average 24 guests, while Even Smaller Group journeys average just 15.
I'm a solo-traveller, will your tours suit me?
Yes. Solo travellers are welcome and the smaller group environment provides more opportunity to get to know fellow travellers and the Tauck Director.
Do you offer single rooms?
Yes. A single supplement applies and single-room pricing and availability is shown for each departure.
Do you offer room-sharing with other solo travellers?
No.
How would you describe the accommodation on your trips?
Upscale hotels, resorts, lodges, historic properties, boutique hotels and distinctive destination stays chosen for their character, location and sense of place.
Are there any extras to pay on top of the tour price shown?
Accommodation, sightseeing, transfers, many meals, local guides and most on-tour costs are included. Additional costs include some meals and Tauck Director and driver gratuities.
Do you have the same guide throughout the trip?
Yes. A dedicated Tauck Director accompanies the group and manages the journey throughout, although personnel may change on longer or combined itineraries.
Do you use local guides?
Yes. Handpicked local guides and experts work alongside the Tauck Director for specialist destination sightseeing.
How much free time will we have on a Tauck trip?
Tauck's small group journeys are specifically designed to provide more time, freedom and flexibility than larger departures, while still including Tauck's guided sightseeing and exclusive experiences.
How fit do we need to be?
Travellers should be able to walk around 0.5 to 1 mile at a time, manage uneven surfaces and stairs, stand for up to an hour and independently board the transport used on the itinerary. Requirements increase on more active journeys.
Recent Tauck reviews
Tip: If booking airline flights through Global Journeys, ask for each passenger to have their own individual travel reservation number. Due to airline system upgrades, Colombian/ Panamanian airlines at international airports do not appear to recognise multiple passengers booked under the same travel reservation number (you’ll be stuck at the airline check in counter for an additional 2 hours for each flight you take).
On a very positive note, the local tour guides were excellent, very knowledgeable, courteous and friendly. Our Tauck Tour Guide was also excellent with extensive experience in Eastern Europe. One final negative comment, unfortunately. Even though we realize that Tauck does not make hotel room assignments, we feel that they can do a much better job of influencing the hotels on our stay to provide rooms that are more comparable to the cost of our tour. We have not once during our Tauck tours been assigned a hotel room with a view of anything but rooftops of adjacent buildings or a view of another section of the hotel itself. That's not what we feel we deserve for the money we pay for these tours. On a closing note, we are booked on our next Tauck tour to Portugal in October and plan to book a follow-on Tauck tour to New Zealand on 2024.
