Overall the tour was excellent   0 , Australia, Sep 2013
Overall the tour was excellent. It was a large group of 51 people, but our tour director Emile Wiegand Bruss managed it well. We enjoyed the tour very much, we paid an extra $2,300 ( per couple ) in order to join the optional tours but found that it was quite worth it. Some hotels were better than the rest, and food quality was of a good standard too. ...read more I would recommend Trafalgar to anyone interested in European tour.
We have nothing to say but positive things about our tour   1 , Australia, Sep 2013
We have nothing to say but positive things about our tour. We had a brilliant tour leader in Alberto and many of the local guides were also great - one lady Aurora in particular was dynamic. We met a lot of great people from different parts of the world and we will make the effort to stay in contact with many of them. Spain was just wonderful and the ...read more tour created lots of opportunities to see a lot and do a lot. The accommodation we had was brilliant everwhere. Thank you Trafalagar, thank you Alberto -your effort and care and knowledge was really appreciated.
A wonderful experience   0 , Australia, Sep 2013
Overall a wonderful experience. The accommodation was very good and the tour director was more than excellent. Some of the included and optional meals were very disappointing, especially the so-called farewell dinner at the end in Paris. It was one of the worst meals I have had. Travelling through some of the countries that produce such good food and ...read more wine we had hoped to experience some very good, if not the most expensive, wines. We were never offered anything other than pretty ordinary table wine. This did not spoil our overall enjoyment of the tour and we had a wonderful time. As first time coach tourers I think it would have been helpful to know beforehand that it is really recommended that you take as many of the optional tours/experiences as possible. It adds hugely to the amount of things you can see in the relatively short time that you spend in each place. The local tour guides were all very knowledgable and good fun. We found that we could pay for all of our 'optionals' in one hit at the start of the tour and were able to use our credit card. Some of our group had gone to the trouble of obtaining Swiss Francs especially for the optional tour offered there, but this was not necessary. The early mornings can be a bit tiring, especially towards the end of the tour, but that is just a comment, not a criticism! Your offer for prepaying the tour guide and driver gratuities was also a great idea. You can easily add a little more cash if you want to, but it is good to have that all under control before you go. We were pleased you sent us visa information because travelling through the USA can be scary if you don't have the correct visa waiver. We are glad that we booked through Global Journeys as the price we paid for the tour was great value and the contact we had with Georgie was always very helpful and email replies were prompt.
I had a great time and everything was well organized   1 , Australia, Sep 2013
Overall, everything was well organized and minor hitches handled well. It was clear that the company had put a lot of thought into providing a satisfying experience for travellers. Our tour director, Nieves Franco was wonderful - professional, lovely sense of humour and genuinely caring and helpful. Our driver Fernanado was also excellent. I particularly ...read more loved a couple of the 'off the tourist track' stereotypical experiences- such as 'Be my guest' and having quaint little restaurants with singers performing just for us. The food in some of the restaurants was excellent, while others were OK. The accommodation varied a bit with many hotels a very good standard and others a little lacking. Same with the breakfast experience. [Lisbon's breakfast experience was very mediocre]. Access to Wifi was highly variable, with the connection too weak at times. Overall, these were not major problems. I had a great time and our group was generally a great bunch of people. I will definitely consider travelling with Trafalgar again.
Tour overall was good   2 , Australia, Sep 2013
Tour overall was good. Food was so so only. Would have like to spent more time in Poznan & Dresden as they are beautiful towns.
A wonderful trip with a very well organised tour director   1 , Australia, Sep 2013
We had a wonderful trip with a very well organised tour director who made adjustments to our itinerary to enable us all to get the most out of the places we visited. Our tour was very interesting, educational and fun!! We cannot speak highly enough of our tour director, Tolga, whose insight and knowledge, as well as his sense of humour ensured our time in Turkey will provide us with many wonderful memories. We also appreciate the time and effort of our Global Journey's contact, Georgie, who made all arrangements go so smoothly. Dealing with her eliminated the stress which can sometimes be part of overseas travel!
Tour was really great and we both thoroughly enjoyed   0 , Australia, Sep 2013
The tour was really great and we both thoroughly enjoyed it. Unfortunately the American tour director was not very helpful and the driver got lost a number of times. As a result we arrived on a number of occassions late to the hotel and no time to change after sitting all day on the bus. Also the tour director Garry was not very out going and made no ...read more effort to try and get people to mingle on the tour.
Right up there with the goodies!   0 , Australia, Sep 2013
We have experienced many situations, good, bad & the ugly over the years we have been touring both in OZ and OS. We need to say the total deal from the first contact with Global Journeys until we walked out of KSA on our return was right up there with the goodies! Thank you Michelle well done!
Tour was good, as we had expected   0 , Australia, Sep 2013
Tour was good, and having travelled with Trafalgar 3 times before, was as we had expected. I thought Global Journeys was great - easy to communicate with, and attentive. Thanks Georgie.
The best tour I have had   0 , Australia, Sep 2013
This was the best tour I have had - excellent guide in Charlie; the best hotels and food and a great experience of Turkey with the modern and ancient ruins. I would recommend this tour to anyone.
An amazing time from start to end   0 , Australia, Aug 2013
I have an amazing time from start to end of the tour. Our tour director Linda has had a lot knowledge of the the places we have been in to. We had a fantastic time   0 , Australia, Aug 2013
The tour was fabulous we had a fantastic time. Our tour guide Linda was very knowledgeable and went out of her way to please everyone. There were places we wished we could stay longer but that's with every tour. The pace was hectic but manageable. Accommodation was excellent. The only negatives I have was I think with the price paid some of the optional dinners should have been included and 52 people was to many. Trafalgar advertise max 49 with average only 40.
A great holiday with some great local tour guides   1 , Australia, Aug 2013
A great holiday, nice and easy with some great local tour guides, Paul is a very good tour guide, organising some really great extras.
An excellent glimpse of what UK and Ireland has to offer   0 , AU, Aug 2013
The very nature of this type of tour means that you're 'on the go' all the time and there is a balance between trying to see and experience as much as possible without overdoing it. For me this tour hit the mark. Reasonably paced, for a coach tour, with a good mix of sights and experiences. There were certainly places where we would have liked to have ...read more had more time but the time allotted was usually 'adequate'. Tour leader (Anna) was excellent - friendly, helpful and a lot of fun. This was an excellent glimpse of what UK and Ireland had to offer and I would highly recommend this tour.
It was all wonderful!   2 , Australia, Aug 2013
The tour was fantastic. The tour guide, Miranda, was incredibly well organized and provided the most amazing historical perspectives, wherever we were. The accommodation was brilliantly located, but the quality was lacking at several destinations - including Salzburg, St Moritz and Innsbruck. The food, overall, was very good, and the breakfast buffets ...read more were excellent. I enjoyed the pace of the tour, but quite a few older passengers found it too tiring, and some less abled needed to be excluded from some of the walking tours. The route was so incredibly picturesque, and the varied modes of transport (boats, cog railways, trains, horse and buggy etc) added extra enjoyment. The optional extras (I did all of them) were, in the main, fantastic. There was a Swiss dinner at the Stadtkeller in Lucerne which was pretty ordinary, but I really enjoyed all of the others. Staying at the Radisson Blu at Zurich Airport was a bonus at the start of the tour - so convenient to reach, after getting off the plane, and so easy with the rail network underneath. So, in summary - I had an absolute ball! I wouldn't hesitate to travel on my own again, and would definitely take another tour - having everything organized makes life very simple. You also know that the bulk of the tour has already been paid for, and only need to factor in lunches and spending money. Choosing the Switzerland & Austria trip also meant that we were in incredibly clean, safe countries. At no time did I feel unsafe or threatened, and didn't suffer any illness. It was all wonderful!
Well planned tour   0 , Australia, Aug 2013
Well planned tour, comfortable hotels, although Jurys Hotel accommodation not quite up there with other hotels.
The Edinbrugh Tatoo was certainly a highlight of the trip   1 , Australia, Aug 2013
Firstly, Frances was a delight to book with, she always responded to my emails and phone calls quickly and efficiently. What was covered in the tour was very good. The travel director Paul, was exceptional with a great deal of knowledge and insight into all the areas visited. Unfortunately most of the hotels were below average, some were very dated and dusty. The dinner on the first night was a horrible introdution to the British cusine. Of our dining experiences, I would say only two dinners were thoroughly enjoyable, the one in Liverpool and the one as part of the river cruise in Ireland. The shows were fun however, the accompaning dinners rushed and bland. Smaller shows with better food would have been appreciated. We were very fortunate that the group as a whole, was very positive and upbeat and were able to laugh off some of the poor meals we had. Better choices of retaurants would have made the tour far more enjoyable. The Edinbrugh Tatoo was certainly a highlight of the trip.
A well-paced tour with a good mix of travel modes   6 , Australia, Aug 2013
A well-paced tour with a good mix of travel modes - train, coach, boat - and plenty of time for walking around the cities and towns visited. Tour organisation was very good and flexible enough to handle contingencies (e.g route variation because of railway works) without unnecessary disruption to the schedule.
Tour was good, however very disappointing Tour Director   1 , Australia, Aug 2013
The service provided by Global Journeys was prompt and efficient - thank you Hannah. The tour was was good, however Trafalgar Tours really need to vet the people they choose as tour directors. I and most of the people on my tour were extremely disappointed with the manner of our tour director. Clare was very well informed and provided good explanations ...read more and information however was curt and impersonal and at times rude. She was impatient. She gave information overload about the day's events at times and then added to the confusion by providing the information and times for the following days. She only spoke to the group through her microphone and preferred to hide her face in her iPhone when we were getting on or off the coach. If we had issues we wanted to discuss she was defensive. I would not choose or recommend Trafalgar Tours again because of her, although we know from talking to another tour group with Trafalgar that they were thoroughly happy with their director Mike. Very disappointing Tour Director, and for some it spoiled their holiday.
Recommend to anyone wishing to see Europe   0 , Australia, Aug 2013
We spent New Year's Eve with friends who were speaking excitedly about their coach tour through Europe with Trafalgar. We got the travel bug too, did some research and decided on a 21 day Grand European Tour with Trafalgar. I searched the net and up popped Global Journeys who appeared to be competitively priced for this tour and in fact were the cheapest ...read more I found. I rang and spoke to Hannah Campbell, she explained what I needed to do and from that moment on Hannah was our personal consultant at Global Journeys who handled our phone calls, emails, payments etc. Hannah was polite, efficient and always responded to our questions promptly if she couldn't answer straight away. We had a ball on our tour, we met new friends and everyone got on well with each other. I can recommend to anyone wishing to see Europe to speak with Global Journeys first.
