Very professional and extremely helpful 5 Highlights of Spain, Morocco and Portugal , Australia, May 2011
My wife and I loved Spain, you have to go to experience the magnificent scenery. history, culture and beautiful sunshine to appreciate it. Morocco, was extremely interesting but a bit too scary for my wife especially at the Medinas. We can describe our experience as 'we are glad we went', but probably 'will not return'. Portugal, saw just a fleeting read more glimpse but we thoroughly enjoyed the visit. We were very fortunate to have the best tour director that we have come across so far in our adventures, David Nadal, he possesses a wonderful passionate for his country (Spain) and worked tirelessly to satisfy all of the tour passengers. He made the tour very special. This was a wonderful tour. This has been our third trip with Relaxing/Global Journeys and our tour consultant on all occasions has been Georgie - very professional and extremely helpful.
A well scheduled trip 4 Amazing Spain and Portugal , Australia, May 2011
The trip was wonderful. It is a well scheduled trip, but some of the 'optional extras' (175 Euros/person) should really have been included as part of the tour, even if that increased the cost. The hotels were good, except for the Marriott in Lisbon. This was very inconveniently located (and in need of some refreshing). Our guide, John Chappell was informative read more while the driver of the bus really deserves special commendation in the way he assisted passengers on and off the bus. Thanks for your efficient help with the reservations.
The 2-night stays were great 2 Best of Britain , Australia, May 2011
Fabulous tour. Tour guide Mhairi was really good - very informative and lots of lovely stories about the history etc of the places we drove through. Bus driver Paul was very friendly and helpful - his driving skills were amazing! I liked the fact that the tour stayed in a place for 2 nights on 6 of the 10 nights. The optional extras were all worth doing. read more I will be recommending this tour to all my friends!
Good value for money, we enjoyed immensely 2 Britain and Ireland Delight , Australia, May 2011
Tour itinerary for 8 days was great, covering so much in a short period of time and has whetted our appetite for more holidays in the UK. York, north of England fantastic. Scotland, Ireland we loved. The weather was not too kind to us and we did not see to much sunshine, however, we believe it could have been a lot worse. The Tour Director very knowledgeable, read more however he tarnished his performance by making subtle references throughout the trip regarding the expectations of gratuities to himself and the driver. Trafalgar were limited in providing transfers to and from their nominated hotels - other tour operators we have been with have been much more accommodating. Good value for money, we enjoyed immensely.
Everything ran smoothly, hotels were very good 1 Best of Britain , Australia, May 2011
Many thanks for your help in organising our trip overseas. We had a lovely time and everything ran smoothly. We found Cathay Pacific good to travel with and really appreciated the break en route. We were very happy with the Copthorne Millenium, not least because they had a small refrigerator, a room safe and an ironing board setup in the room. Those read more items are just great when travelling and more especially when you have a couple of nights stop over. The location was fairly convenient too. We found South Kensington just up the road probably more central, but the hotels didn't seem to be as comfortable as ours. The Best of Britain tour was lovely. We were very fortunate to have just 22 in our group and to have a great tour leader. A criticism, if any, was that Jurys Inn Hotels were used 3 times and they don't seem to have the refrigerator, safe and ironing board in the rooms - whilst available for the asking, the iron in the room is really appreciated, especially on one night stays. Overall the hotels were very good. We were absolutely shattered on our arrival in Hong Kong on the return journey. The staff at the Holiday Inn, Golden Mile were excellent and offered the option of an upgrade for an additional $180 which offered immediate check-in and late checkout 2 days later, together with the lurks and perks of the upgraded room! On our outward journey, we had booked ourselves into the Regal hotel at the airport. This proved to be a good move as we didn't have to leave the airport and found it was less stressful than if we'd gone into town for such a short period.
Tour pandered to people who aren't up to moving around much 3 Best of Britain , Australia, May 2011
Well this tour certainly covered the highlights and gave a good introduction to England and Scotland. It did dip quickly into Wales, but the one night in Cardiff is exactly that. Unless you forego the optional evening dinner and strike out on your own (as I did - the No. 6 bus takes you right to Cardiff Bay if you're a Torchwood or Doctor Who fan), read more you won't even see any of Cardiff, except from the coach window. So it's really a tour that covers parts of England and Scotland. Let me get this out of the way first: I would not recommend this tour to the younger crowd. Although it is billed as an all-ages tour, the average age on the coach was definitely over 65. I'm 30 and found this utterly frustrating at times as it really pandered to people who aren't up to moving around too much or are scared to lose sight of the bus for more than a moment. So, while it is open to people of all ages, it's really probably aimed at retired people. That all said, I settled in as best I could to enjoy the tour and made every effort to explore when possible. Luckily the tour on most days stops for several hours at one place or another, which gives those people like me plenty of time to really explore a place on foot and stretch the legs. So while you don't get to stop and visit everything on the itinerary, you do get to explore a few of them quite thoroughly if you grab a quick lunch on the run and walk, walk, walk. The tour director, Charles, was very knowledgeable on the areas we passed through and their sordid history of religious and political back-stabbing. He also didn't seem phased by anything and was very helpful and caring when some people had a few mishaps along the way. He did occasionally play some music over the bus speakers that was of questionable taste, but that's what iPods are for and the older folk around me seemed to like it. Highlights for me on the tour were St Ives with its Cornish Pasties and beautiful scenery; the Scottish Highlands with their unique landscape and the optional extra of a proper Scottish sheep farm complete with a sheepdog demonstration (something I never would have thought to do on my own); the boat tour of Loch Loman; Edinburgh, with it fabulous castle and Old Town (we had lots of time to explore Edinburgh, which I greatly appreciated); and Bath, with its gorgeous bath house and Tudor architecture. Overall, despite feeling somewhat out of place given my age, the tour gave a wonderful overview of the area and has given me ideas for places I'd like to explore more thoroughly if I ever visit the UK again. At all times, I felt safe and secure, the hotel rooms were all clean and comfortable and the bus driver was top notch (you should have seen some of the streets he negotiated). I can't say I'd have chosen this tour if I knew what I know now, but it wasn't bad either. I think perhaps I'm not a coach tour kinda gal.
A great way to experience coach touring 1 Best of Britain , Australia, May 2011
The tour was better than expected, mainly due to the tour director. Right from that early morning start at the London Coach Terminal, he, Charles Dones, was looking after his group of 44. He made sure everyone was enjoying the tour and nothing was too much trouble. We had 11 full days of sightseeing and things to do, a great way to experience the 'coach read more touring' type of travel.
A great introduction to Europe for us first timers 2 Highlights of Europe , Australia, Apr 2011
We both really enjoyed the trip through Europe for 14 days. The tour guide we had on the bus was fantastic and he made the most of our time on the tour. Not much free time but we knew that before we left but we could not have seen half of what we had seen had we not been on the Insight Tour. Also got into the attractions at a good time with not much read more waiting. We had a great bus load of people and we all got along well and swapped email addresses. I would totally recommend Insight Tours as it was a great introduction to Europe for us first timers.
Such a great trip for our first time 2 Highlights of Europe , Australia, Apr 2011
Our thoughts on our trip was that is was a very well planned 14 day bus trip through Europe just to give you a taste of the 8 Countries we visited. We had been kept informed through Global Journeys prior to our trip to keep us up to date and also when we arrived home to see how it was. My husband and myself would no hesitation to re book with Global read more Journeys for the next time we travel to Europe or to any other destination we decide. It was such a great trip for our first time that yes we will try to get back there again some time.
Great all round, an amazing experience 1 Grand Italy & Sicily , Australia, Apr 2011
It was an amazing experience. The tour director Belinda and driver Antonio were absolute professionals and they really knew their stuff. The coach was brand new and very comfortable with all facilities that were required on board. The hotels and the food of exceptional quality and the staff at all hotels were helpful. The tour was well organised and read more directed, this was made possible by the attitude that Belinda where nothing was to much trouble for her and Antonio kept us safe with his exceptional skills in handling the coach. I would recommend this tour to all people, but if you dont like walking dont do it, however this is not a reflection on the tour, because the more walking we did the more we saw and experienced. Great all round, many thanks to all involved!
Amazing Europe 2 Grand European , QLD, Australia, Apr 2011
I am reviewing this trip 12 years after the event (it's now 6th July 2023!), yet my memory is very clear. My first trip to Europe as a single traveller! An amazing unforgettable journey, meeting new people some experiencing countries for the first time and others seasoned travellers. From the moment we met our Tour guide Patrick and drive to the last read more day, they were brilliant. Patrick was a wealth of information and in-depth knowledge, ready to join in and make our holiday one to remember. At the end of our 3 weeks he sent us a massive number of photos in case we had not captured the image ourselves. All these years on I am sure travellers are still enjoy the wonders of Europe with Trafalgar.
Really enjoyed every part of this great tour 2 Britain and Ireland Explorer , Australia, Apr 2011
We really enjoyed every part of this great tour, we met & made friends from all over the world at the same time as enjoying the best organised holiday we could have wished for. The hotels that we stayed in and the meals that they served were all highly rated and they really looked after us. The Tour Director and the Coach Driver were first class and read more they both knew everything about all the places including the history to keep us entertained through the entire 30 days of the tour. They even had optional highlight tours on almost every day or evening. All the optional highlights were a extra cost and they included special Dinners when on the particular night a hotel dinner was not included in the tour, plus visiting out of the way places where you would not know existed. We also took an 11 day Cosmos European Highlights Tour, and saw the great cities of Venice, Rome, Paris, Florence and Amsterdam plus a optional boat tour down the Rhine River. The optional highlights of this tour were all exceptional and the Tour Director and Coach Driver both looked after all our needs. We both highly recommend these tours which are highly organised to anyone wishing to explore Britain and Europe. Thank you Global Journeys and Trafalgar.
A perfect snapshot of such a beautiful country 1 Italian Scene , Australia, Apr 2011
Our tour was fantastic. It was well organised and the tour guide was exceptional in his knowledge of the country and history past and present. He was unbelievably supportive when we unfortunately had our passports stolen. We would so recommend this tour to others as it gives a perfect snapshot of such a beautiful country while feeling safe in the hands read more of a very capable and friendly bus driver and excellent local tour guides, enjoying the pleasure of meeting new friends and having fun and taking in the breathtaking scenery. Thanks again Yvonne.
Great way to travel for a first time solo traveller 2 Irish Highlights , Australia, Jan 2011
Coach tours are a great way to travel for a 'travel virgin' travelling alone. The tours were good and I liked it that the tour wasn't full so I could have 2 seats to myself. It was great to have all the transfers organised and I would definitely like to travel by coach in the future. The additional extra entertainment is sometimes very schmaltzy and read more you cannot rely on the tour director for accurate info in regards to this as they are really trying to get extra numbers for the entertainment and dinners. I have now a taste for future travel as the world seems so small and accessible!
Would have liked more exposure to environment 4 New England's Fall Foliage , Australia, Oct 2010
Tour was very well organised and accommodations mostly were of a high standard. I would have preferred to have fewer included activities (eg dinners) and more exposure to the natural environment than was included. When we arrived back in Boston after the tour ended, myself and a number of others who were not flying out of Boston directly or not staying read more at Omni Parker House, were left to make our own way to our alternate accommodation in spite of the fact that the tour ended more than 2 hours earlier that was expected. I did not find this level of service acceptable given the relative high cost of the tour.
