Enjoyable holiday but with some reservations 11Ken, NSW, Australia, Jun 2018
The destinations on the tour were very good, although as with any coach tour, more time could have been spent at some of the places. In particular, the day we went to Lecce and Otranto, the times spent at each should have been reversed, so that more time could be spent at Otranto rather than Lecce.
The accommodation were unfortunately hit and miss. read more The hotels at Naples and Bari were great (with Naples having a wonderful location and Bari a very stylish modern hotel), but the rest left a lot to be desired. Sorrento was the last stop on the tour and was our favourite place we visited, but the hotel was too far from the centre of town, requiring a shuttle bus there and back, unless one was willing to walk on the narrow road with no footpath.
Two other hotels we stayed at (Cellino San Marco and Castellano Grotte) were terrible, with many on the tour complaining about their remoteness and lack of basic and functional amenities (no in-room wi-fi, no in-room telephones, etc.).
We were always led to believe that Globus tours had better and more centrally-located accommodation than the more budget-friendly Cosmos tours, but on this tour that did not seem to be the case apart from the aforementioned hotels at Naples and Bari. Most people were disappointed in this aspect.
Aside from the accommodation, the tour itself was very enjoyable, with plenty of interesting places to see and much to do. This part of Italy is a wonderful sight to behold.
Trip of a Lifetime 9Peter & Margaret, VIC, Australia, Jun 2018
We were blessed with perfect June weather to enjoy our tour through Sweden, Denmark, Norway, Finland & Russia. A mix of travel by bus, ferries, trains, an internal flight and even an over night ferry ride added to the over all tour experience. The city of Copenhagen was amazing and we enjoyed our visit to the Tivoli Gardens.
Norway was just stunning, read more one of the many highlights in Norway would be the ride on the Flam Train. We loved the day trip to Tallinn and could have spent longer there. Russia was in party mode, the atmosphere was electric with "soccer fever". Especially loved the local entertainment on the Romantic Canal Ride in St Petersburg and the Moscow Circus.
My only comment would be Finland forests seemed a bit of an anticlimax after the beauty of Norway. The long 3 day bus ride with 1 night stops was tiring, I did enjoy the Lappish Dinner and the visit to the Husky farm, but would then have preferred an internal flight to Helsinki and spend more time there. Would have liked more variety in Russia, there were too many church visits.
This was a fast paced travel through the best parks the US has to offer. This was our 10th tour with this company, our first with Globus, having said that we feel this was only equivalent to a Cosmos standard of tour, particularly because of the standard of accommodation and the location of many hotels. The Archway Inn in Moab was particularly rundown, read more dark and below even Cosmos standard, we had breakfast on paper plates! The sheets on the bed looked used and were torn. The location of this and 2 other hotels requires shuttle to get into town to eating establishments. We had expected to be accommodated in central location when available e.g. Rustic Inn at Jackson Hole and Archway Inn Moab. Maswik North Lodge at the Grand Canyon took a 45min shuttle to dinner and breakfast.
Global Journeys did inform us that all hotels may not be up to Globus standard and this was the case, expected in the national parks but not okay for towns with better accommodation available - Moab and Jackson Hole. Itinerary - needs at least an extra night in Denver and Salt Lake City - free days to explore.
Having listed the above improvements, generally the scenery was excellent, the accommodation was the only blot on an otherwise most enjoyable tour.
Very historic and interesting as well as good fun 5The Best of Eastern EuropeMike & Margaret, SA, Australia, May 2018
Very good tour. The only complaint would be the fact that optional excursions were a bit over the top in terms of the number.
Spanish Fiesta 7Spanish FiestaMerilyn, NSW , Australia, May 2018
Overall I had a great trip. However the pace of the tour rated by Globus is incorrect. This is a very fast paced tour that left little to no time for any free time to relax and take in the culture of where we were at any given time. If you did all of the optional excursions you had no free time. The days were long with wake up calls every morning from read more 6am and some days we didn't get to our next hotel till 6pm so the days went for 12 hours! Then we only had enough time to check in, change and be ready for dinner in mostly less than an hour.
Many people who were older quickly became exhausted and sick. This spread throughout the bus unfortunately (I am still trying to get rid of the head cold). This tour might be better off having less one night stays and not cram so much in so that people can relax a bit more. After all it is meant to be a holiday!
The tour guide Ramon was very patient and helpful and an excellent and informative guide. The sights and places were awesome and we saw so much it was like a whirlwind but would have liked to spend longer at some destinations.
We thoroughly enjoyed our recent holiday with Global Journeys and Globus. It was a "trouble-free" experience and we thank Yvonne Brooks for ensuring everything went to plan. The whole trip offered very good value for money (compared to other offerings we had looked at). Very few operators offer a package that takes you from the eastern side of Canada read more (including a visit to the amazing Niagara Falls) to the west across the plains and the Rockies and then onto a ship to sail through the beautiful Inside Passage.
The Rockies were spectacular and the sites we visited were breathtaking. Butchart Gardens in Victoria on Vancouver Island are a "must see". Alaska looks like the "last frontier" and Glacier Bay offered sights we'll never forget. We went Dog-sledding in Skagway which was a unique experience. All in all it was a wonderful holiday. Thank you Global Journeys.
Not as expected! 7Sharon, VIC, Australia, May 2018
This was my first trip with Globus, and I was highly disappointed with this tour. There were many others on my tour who had done Globus tours before and they also thought his tour was not as good as what they had previously experienced with this operator. Firstly, the guide was not French and does not live in France which meant we did not get as much read more local knowledge and information as one would hope on a tour. We also did not get any local guides in any of the cities.
We were told that this particular tour is quite new and still required modifications and tweaking to perfect it. A few of the places we stayed in did not make any sense to a tourist, e.g., overnight stay in Macon which had nothing to offer when we could have driven an extra hour to reach Lyon for the overnight stay. Also they started the tour on Saturday in Paris which meant arriving on Sunday in Metz, a small city which has very little open on Sunday afternoons, including restaurants and dining options.
My experience with Global Journeys has always been great. This is one of the reasons I travel with them. I had an awesome time travelling to the Historical Cities of Canada. Very good guide, enjoyment all around the trip.
Wonderful holiday 3Imperial SplendorsJoyce & Cindy, NSW, Australia, May 2018
The scenery was beautiful! We enjoyed every moment - the beauty of Prague, the cruise along the Danube River and even the small town along the way to Salzburg. The tour was well organised and our tour guide Anthony was very helpful. All in all, it’s a highly recommended tour.
We had a fabulous holiday, too many highlights to mention! The size and beauty of the Rockies, the history of Alaska, the beauty of the city of Vancouver and Victoria, and the great tour guide Doug Miller are just a few. Beauty around every corner.
First big trip overseas and first time ever cruising, enjoyed it immensely would book with Globus and Yvonne again in a heartbeat. Everything was perfectly organised and ran like clockwork.
This was a holiday of a lifetime and far exceeded our expectations. Our travel consultant Yvonne Brooks was brilliant from start to finish nothing was ever a problem for her. Our tour guide in Canada Doug Miller went above and beyond the call of duty as did the driver Roger. Accommodation was exceptional, everything was well organised and would definitely read more recommend Globus to anyone who will listen. Will travel with Globus if we ever get the opportunity to holiday again and this sentiment was echoed by everyone on the tour.
Fantastic trip, we loved Whistler, Jasper, Sun Peaks and Banff. Alaska was amazing all the ports were beautiful, the people of Canada and Alaska were so friendly and obliging it really is amazing.
Another well presented holiday from Globus showcasing the best and the beauty of western Canada and Alaska. The highlight for us was the amazing scenery and wildlife that the Rockies of western Canada provide. Our Holland America cruise was very good with Glacier Bay being the highlight. Thanks to Global Journeys for another well organised holiday.
There's a lot to take in on this tour so the pace is steady. It is a great way to comfortably see a fair bit of Morocco. The tour director and local guides were great.
The Scandinavian tour by Globus 2Jenny & Sally, VIC, Australia, May 2018
Scandinavia was a place I'd wanted to visit for many years. I finally booked the tour with the help of Hannah from Global Journeys and, as usual, it was hassle-free. What a spectacular place to visit! Started the tour in Copenhagen and it was a very charming and very hipster place to visit.
After a few days we arrived in Stockholm and, wow, I was read more blown away by how beautiful this city is. A 'must see' is the Vasa Museum. We then travelled to spectacular Norway with its incredible scenery.
All in all a fantastic trip – the accommodation was first class with centrally located hotels with my only criticism being the hotel in Lillehammer which possibly wasn't up to scratch in terms of the tiny rooms (literally couldn't swing a cat!). The driver and Tour Director were very professional. I'd have no hesitation recommending this tour anyone.
Magnificent and breathtaking scenery, architecture and night lights. 3Imperial SplendorsJonathan, WA, Australia, May 2018
We were brought to see and experience the best places in Munich, Prague, Budapest and Vienna etc. Excellent tour director, driver and local guides. A touch of luxury and class added. Unforgettable tour!
This was our third tour with Globus/Cosmos and was easily the best. The tour guide (Andrew Moran) was exceptional, very knowledgeable, great personality, very approachable and helpful, even with some ideas for our ongoing self drive. The coach was only a few weeks old and the driver (Courtenay) was very good, courteous and helpful and always presented read more the coach next day clean, she was very dedicated and safe.
The other people on the tour (a mix of Australians and Americans) were around our age and fun to be with, good humored, readily talkative and always ready to help people who were not so capable - importantly they were always on time too! The tour itself was amazing, photos just don't do these places justice, every stop was jaw-droppingly wow! Hotels were good generally but let down by the staff. There seemed to be a general lack of trained people everywhere and those that were didn't seem to be interested or helpful..
Great tour, made especially great by tour director Paul. Saw lots of sights we wouldn't find ourselves. Hotels were excellent, and the food in each was very good. Timings for special viewings was well thought out by Paul e.g. leaving a little earlier in the morning and beating everyone to Cliffs of Moher.
Some days drive seemed a little long but read more to cover the miles you have to expect that. Breaks every couple of hours helped. Optional extras, some worthwhile. Local guides were all very entertaining and enjoyable.
Best Alpine Views and Experience. Look no further! 4Jonathan, WA, Australia, Apr 2018
A trip of a lifetime with a touch of class and luxury included by Globus. Just relax and take in all the magnificent alpine and lake views as much as you can. No pressure even if you are not a fast walker. Baggage in and out of hotels all taken care of.
