This tour covers Denmark, Finland, Norway and Sweden. The brochure paints an exciting tour with really enjoyable optional experiences. So we were a little let down with what actually occurred. There is a lot of time spent on travelling to places. On a number of days you left at eight o'clock and did not arrive at the next place until after five. This read more was due to the 70-80km speed limit, driver rest periods and the winding roads. When arrived at our destination we wanted to unwind over drinks but the cost was exorbitant (AUD$18 for a small beer). The quality of the hotels varied a great deal depending on what town you staying at. Meals were generally buffet style with ample selection of dishes.
The optional experiences were costly for what actually occurred. The railway journey from Sweden sounded good but all you did was catch a normal passenger train from a nearby station and travel back down the hillside. We opted out of doing the traditional dinners after the Danish dinner as we found the quality of the food was not great. The overnight cruise from Stockholm to Helsinki was okay, The cruise is actually on a car ferry and the cabins were just adequate.The scenery was excellent and you saw many many fjords.

Aptly on Mid-Summer's Day we started our Nordic Adventure with Trafalgar Tours together with 35 new friends from Australia, New Zealand, Canada, the US and South Africa. Our tour director was brilliant - informative, caring, humorous and unflappable. Likewise our coach driver - his first time on this 5000+km itinerary and not one scary moment.
We read more had excellent weather for most of the time though the North Cape of Norway and Arctic Finland were shrouded in mist but this had its own atmosphere effect. Highlights are difficult to choose as there were so many, but the Geiranger Fjord area with its nearby Dalsnibba, Eagle and Trollistgen roads challenge anything the Alps can offer in mountainous scenery and hair-pin roads. Turning the street corner in Helsinki and seeing the gleaming white Helsinki Lutheran Cathedral was breathtaking. The booking through Global Journeys was easy and with very rapid responses to questions - thanks to Madeline.

There is much to recommend about this particular tour of the Scottish Highlands. In part, that reflected the guide (Kate) and the driver (Chris), but that may have been coloured by the 'wee dram' of whisky at the end of each day. There were several highlights of the tour, but three remain outstanding: the stone age village on the Orkneys, Doune Castle read more for Monty Python and Outlander fans and the landscape.
Our guide, Kate, filled us in on the history of the various places we visited, which added to the tour and suggested a bloody past for the Highlands. The quality of the accommodation varied. Thurso, for example, was the more basic of the various hotels we visited. However, we were warned about this by Kate and the accommodation was never substandard. The group was a large, and mixed, and that was good because it blunted any potential conflicts.
As for Global Journeys, the company did a magnificent job. I would certainly book with them again (in fact have already done so). Jemma Rosen deserves a special mention here. She was prompt when it came to answering any questions I had and was more than happy to discuss options available when it came to transport in Britain. The tour would not have worked as well as it did without her.

The company (Insight Vacations) was very professional, everything was taken care of. Mostly retired people that were well off. Most people mixed well, except one nationality. Would travel with them again if I could afford it. The accommodation was in a good location so it was easy to walk places.
Other travellers were very pleasant. Tour was good. Tour guide spent most of her time talking up the optional excursions so people would buy them - obviously wanting her commission. This was a turn off as most were overpriced.
The first section of the tour is very busy but eases up once in Ireland. We had expected quite a bit of motorway driving so it was a pleasant surprise to find that the Tour Director & Driver did as much on 'country roads' as practical, and even in parts when passing other vehicles was 'tight'. Scenery was great. The weather was well behaved. Tour Director read more and Driver were excellent and worked well as a team. Some people didn't do any of the optionals and I think they missed out on some good opportunities for seeing, learning more about the countries we were in and meeting some locals. A few of the hotels were BA's (best available) but that is part of the experience :)
The trip was well organised and backed up with excellent drivers and knowledgeable resident tour guide. The hotels were comfortable and staff very helpful. (We used to get an extra jug of milk each night for extra cups of coffee/tea in the rooms.) Some of the hotels were a bit out of the way, but this did not present a problem. The major problem with read more travelling in Ireland is that there are few public conveniences, even in the major shopping areas. At one of our stops we had to use one in a gift shop, where the coaches stop regularly, there was only one toilet (50cents) and insufficient time for most of the passengers to use it!!!

This tour was indeed spectacular! Canada certainly has fantastic places to visit. This tour was well organised, the accommodation was good and our Tour Director was great. We visited so many beautiful places, but we never felt rushed, or that we missed anything. We often had options to be as active or sedate as we wanted and the travel times were kept read more as comfortable as possible. We highly recommend this tour and Trafalgar. We plan to do more of their tours.
On the whole it was a great trip. I think more own time was needed to relax and unwind. Only one opportunity to do laundry. Days were long, would have been nicer to arrive at hotel in afternoon. Arrival times were between 4.30- 7.00pm. A good mix of people, all got along easily.
We had a fantastic time! The tour was really well organised. Our tour director, Greg, was great - always friendly, helpful and full of information. The hotels were clean and well situated. Saw a lot of amazing places in the 12 days. Thank you for the wonderful trip Greg, Costsaver and Global Journeys! Highly recommend Costsaver and Trafalgar.

This tour needed to be at least an extra day for the total distance travelled. It was too fast paced and too many hours on the coach each day with not enough time to explore each location especially the one night stops. Loved all the places we visited and the history in each town and city. Disappointments were the Blarney Stone, there is not one it read more wore off years ago - a rip off. The Edinburgh Scottish Dinner it was terrible 10 years ago and is worse now, Trafalgar should not include these. Our tour guide Glen was very good.
Following our journey in Europe we joined Trafalgar for a remarkable trip across Britain and Ireland catching up with some of my family and other friends as the trip progressed from Stonehenge up to Scotland across to Ireland and back to England.
We had the best team of people ever, fun and we all got on well. We felt we all needed to see more of Madrid Plaza Mayor, tasting tapas or a coffee, not stopping in front of the bull ring and back to the hotel as Richard our tour guide sold us on our first optional excursion (by the way we were all going to do the option anyway). We were told by Richard read more our tour guide that this was the best way to do it, luckily we had 4 days prior to our tour starting to see Madrid the capital, no one else did.
Our hotel in Granada could have been more central or Richard and our grumpy bus driver could have given us a small tour of the city on arrival just to get our bearings (the last Trafalgar tour we did our tour guide and bus driver did this) then people can go for a walk after dinner. When we came down to Marbella we had a walk through the old town which we got to know very well as our tour guide lived there and we had a nice optional dinner. We asked if there was a choice of visiting Mijas, the white washed village in the mountains, and he took us there for lunch which was fantastic, but not sure if he would have if we hadn’t said anything.
In Morocco all tour dinners, first and last hotels were fantastic. The Medina in Fes was a disaster as there were 4 tour guides and the group was split - we only got one guide and the other crowd got 3. Why was this? It was the biggest push sale ever on carpets and leather goods and our guide got annoyed as no one wanted to buy anything so he made us wait in an alley for 45 minutes then rushed through the Medina out where we had to wait another 45 minutes for the others. We were all disappointed as we were all excited to buy stuff and we got nothing, as soon as I saw Richard we told him and it was brushed under the carpet. Our bus driver was a joke and as soon as it came to gratuity Richard put an envelope on our seat to give and went on and on about it, it became a bit of a joke .
All Spain then Portugal was fantastic we ended our trip in Lisbon by choice to stay an extra 3 days and saw a lot more. The food and hotels here were fantastic. The best hotels on this trip were Madrid and Seville, beautiful. Will do another trip with Trafalgar and hope we get professional guide.

A great insight to the history of seven beautiful countries. City orientations provided us with lots of historical info and we walked through many palaces, castles, churches which are unique to every city. Lake Bled was one of the highlights and optionals covered many other areas that were not included on the itinerary. Hotels were of good standard read more but a couple had very small rooms. Included meals were average to good.
Tour Director was informative and helpful but we sincerely felt that he could have been more organised. The Coach Driver topped it all with his expertise on the road. The distance did not count with his skillful driving and the journey through out was worry free. We had pleasant company with all our fellow travellers and a memorable trip. This our second tour booked through Global Journeys and it has been hassle free.

Great trip with an excellent itinerary. So many highlights particularly in Scotland and Ireland. Accommodation was fine but some dinners were only average.
This bus tour certainly showed us the Best of Italy. We thought the locations were great, the accommodation was generally very good and situated in good proximity so the best advantage could be taken of free time. Most of the optional extras were handled well and seemed to be good value. Loved the surprise on the gondolas of having music and a fabulous read more singer. Would skip the optional tour of St Mark's Basilica and the secrets of Venice walk around - not enough time in the cathedral. Our highlights were St Peter's In Rome, the Isle of Capri and Lake Maggiore and Lake Como. Global Journeys made the booking process easy.
Overall a very good tour. Coverage of a number of countries and main cities within 12 days is excellent. Tour director and driver looked after us very well.

Booking our trip through Global Journeys was very easy and hassle free. Everything went very smoothly. The price was the cheapest we could get anywhere else. This was our first time doing an Insight tour. It was all pretty good but we felt our guide lacked a bit of experience to make our tour more enjoyable. Some of our accommodation was really good read more but a couple would have only been a 3 1/2 star. It was very good to have only 32 passengers on the tour and they were all very nice people. We all got along well with each other. We will probably book another tour with Insight in the future. And we will definitely be booking through Global Journeys for our future holidays. Very knowledgeable tour director (Grant) and our driver (Peter) was an excellent driver. The chateau although quaint was a long way from any activity, somewhat isolated. The QO in Amsterdam was a very poor choice of accommodation for a tour such as this. It too was way out from the city in a commercial waste land with no real choice of restaurants or read more pubs. The NH hotels in Brussels & Bruges & Rotterdam were in excellent locations & of a high standard we could not fault. Most breakfasts were very good except the QO in Amsterdam, service there was very slow, very limited menu & staff were not coordinated. Tours both inclusive & optional very good. We will certainly look at doing another tour.
Originally had booked this trip for last year but due to medical reasons, had to rebook. Jemma was most helpful on both occasions and I highly recommend her and Global Journeys for future bookings. This was my fourth Insight tour and although I was worried that the lavender and sunflowers wouldn't be in full bloom, it was lovely to see fields of poppies read more and the start of the lavender.
Sometimes I felt that this was more of a foodie and wine tour, and free afternoons weren't really that free by the time you finally got into your hotel room and received your luggage, especially if you had optionals booked. As a solo traveller sharing a room with a stranger, often the hotels hadn't been accommodated for, and a lot of time was spent rearranging the beds, which was faster than waiting for housekeeping. All in all, it was lovely to see many places in a short time and this wouldn't have been possible travelling by car on your own.
