This 11-day guided tour brings Belgium, Luxembourg and the Netherlands to you through the quiet wartime fields, cool canal air and the rasp of wood beneath a shoemaker’s blade. In Luxembourg, you follow sweet and savoury aromas to a farm-to-table feast at L’Écurie du Parc, a former horse stable turned restaurant. After dinner, you pass along the street below 12th-century Clervaux Castle, its pale walls high on the rocky promontory above the town. At the star-shaped Mardasson Monument, you follow the spiral staircase upwards, with the names and battle history carved into the stone around you, then read more step out to look across the fields where the Battle of the Bulge was fought. In Amsterdam, your boat drifts through the UNESCO-listed canal district, passing 16th-century merchant houses and Magere Brug, the slim white bridge over the Amstel. At the Rijksmuseum, a Local Specialist guides you to Rembrandt’s Night Watch, before you watch a shoemaker pare and shape traditional clogs by hand.
