Great trip if you love music. 7Rhythms of the RoadNora & George, NSW, Australia, Sep 2017
If you love music then this holiday is for you. Hotels were comfortable and the upgrade to the Graceland Guest House was perfect, Cosmos should offer more music options in Chicago as there are many blues related facilities which were never mentioned and we discovered by ourselves. Recommend additional days to explore.
Recommend a baseball match in read more St. Louis, great night. Paddle steamer cruise in New Orleans was average for a farewell dinner. Still think breakfast should be included as it makes the morning starts a lot easier.
Our 10 day Rockies trip was brilliant, well organised and accommodation was good with a couple of really flash hotels! Our Tour Director, Mark Love, a native of Alberta, was well informed and fun, and our bus driver, Norm, was friendly, helpful and flexible. September was a good time to travel, not too cold, fewer tourists (although we were surprised read more as to how many there were), fresh snow on the peaks and beautiful autumn colours. Our coach was a good mix of people, mainly older, but from Canada, Australia, USA and the UK. We thoroughly enjoyed it all.
Great holiday with wonderful sights 11The Canadian RockiesCherryl, QLD, Australia, Sep 2017
A very well organised tour with Guide & driver excellent. The group, mainly Australian were lovely. I had done a Rockies Tour before but on the train and even though saw mainly the same places with the exception of Sun Peaks & Whistler, everything still looked beautiful, the last time Lake Louise was covered in ice, this time the most magnificent reflections read more as we had a perfect day. One of my highlights was the Peak 2 Peak Gondola in Whistler, you were so high, towering above the mountains on another perfect day. Overall it was a great trip and Global Journeys organisation of paperwork etc. was very good.
JUST GOT BETTER AND BETTER 8Janne & Michael, NSW, Australia, Sep 2017
This was our 5th Cosmos Tour and our 5th booked through Global Journeys. Booking with Global has always been faultless and this time with Madeline was no exception.
Just when we thought a new day could not get better, it did. We went from places like Arches National Park to Bryce, Zion and Grand Canyons, to the expanse of Lake Powell and the absolute read more amazing Monument Valley. We rode on the narrow guage railway from Durango up to the beautiful old mining town of Silverton and enjoyed the bonus of snow on this part of our tour, and on another day enjoyed a ride on the cog railway to Pikes Peak near Colorado Springs.
Every day was brilliant and too many highlights to choose a favourite. Our tour guide Bruce was an encyclopedia of knowledge and went out of his way to ensure our accommodation preferences, optional tours and every part of our holiday went perfectly. Our bus driver Charles kept an immaculate bus, provided iced bottled water for our entire trip and accommodated our increasing luggage supplies.
Cosmos provides excellent value for money and we now look forward to choosing another holiday with them, and booking through Global Journeys.
I have just returned from the 24 day British Isles in Depth trip with Cosmos. I have previously travelled with Cosmos. I booked my trip on-line through Global Journeys. On this occasion, Yvonne Brooks was the consultant who helped with the booking. I usually pay the single supplement. However, Yvonne advised that there was an opportunity to share, so read more I took up the option and had a very pleasant experience.
The standard of accommodation, optional excursions and entertainment, as well as included meals was of a high standard. It would have been lovely to have had more two night stays in places such as Strathpeffer in the west Scottish Highlands, but that would have entailed a much longer trip. Quite frankly, Scotland and Ireland were my favourite parts of the trip. It would be possible to fly into Glasgow or Edinburgh, hire a car and do Scotland and Ireland yourself. Or, if you had the time and money hire a camper van and take six months or so to do this trip yourself. Autumn is a good time to travel in these parts of the world as the weather is good and it is not too busy.
My fellow travellers were a mixed bag of ages and personalities and pleasant company. We all mixed freely throughout the whole trip. Our tour guide, Fiona, was extremely knowledgeable concerning the local history and gave commentary throughout the trip. Our bus driver, Mark, was a pleasant and experienced driver and his skill negotiating some of those narrow winding roads was much appreciated.
It's hard to say what exactly was my favourite part of the journey as there were so many picturesque coastlines and memorable sightseeing opportunities every single day. I definitely think that this trip is value for money and suitable for any person who is reasonably fit.
One word of warning. Don't take too many clothes! You really don't need six (or 10) of everything. Pack light. It will be much easier. As you are on the bus most of the time, you don't get dirty. You can generally wash your 'smalls' and get them dry in the bathroom. Do take a couple of ' better' items for changing for dinner - but not over the top.
The tour provides a comprehensive overview of America and includes the three largest cities, national parks, world heritage areas and rural communities. The pace is measured with adequate time to experience each area. Each day has a number of highlights and the additional activities are carefully prepared and worthwhile.
The tour guide Doris and read more Driver Jon were professional, organized and provided an excellent overview of the places visited. The months of September and October provided a great mix of hot and cold weather including snow in Yellowstone National Park. The seat rotation system was excellent as well as in bus DVDs on areas visited. Accommodation exceeded our expectations.
A wonderful trip. Each day seemed to bring new highlights and scenic wonders. Some places are well known whilst others are little heard of. A great itinerary and a feast for keen photographers. With one exception, the optional excursions are well selected and good value. We particularly enjoyed the Merano wine tasting at Castle Rametz and the Taste read more of Piedmont in Cinzano.
The mid Autumn weather was kind to us and the mad summer crowds had largely abated. We concluded mid September was a good time to do this trip, with the added bonus of the spectacular Octoberfest opening parade in Munich, where the tour commenced. Our guide, Marco, and our bus driver Massimo should be in the Cosmos "Hall of Fame". True professionals. The tour tends to pass quickly through Bern and Interlaken and ends abrubtly in Zurich. Interlaken itself is not interesting but is central to some truly wonderful attractions, and is well worth 3 or 4 days after the bus tour if time allows. It is easily reached by train from Zurich.
We really enjoyed this holiday it was a dream come true. Our tour director was fantastic and bent over backwards for all of us. Having been on previous tours this meant a lot. The tour itself was well planned and we had enough free time. A beautiful part of the world and beautiful people live there. Lets hope Cosmos will send more and more visitors.
Three countries for the price of one? 7Ultimate South AmericaAubrey & Deanna, WA , Australia, Sep 2017
Very good coverage of the three countries visited. Iguasu Falls was wonderful. The Argentinian side having the better view. Waiting to cross into Argentina was slow. But believe that it was due to the Argentinian Authorities slow pace. Crossing into Argentina twice could have been avoided if hotel accommodation was made available in Argentina rather read more than having to return to Brazil on day 1. Hotel accommodation on the whole was good except for some Bath adapted showers could have been maintained and built to a better level. Peru was great and of course Macchu Pichu brilliant- a must see. Altogether good value for nineteen days packed with lots of sightseeing. Be prepared to walk! Victor the Tour Leader was very informative and knew his job.
The Central Europe tour was a great and wonderful experience. All the cities visited were beautiful amazing and interesting, so full of history which some melt our heart. Our favourite were Danube river cruise and the Salt Mine in Krakow. Auschwitz visit was a truly haunting experience. We thought we were prepared for what we were going to see and read more feel because of how much we had heard about Auschwitz. But nothing can really prepare you for visiting Auschwitz. This is not to be missed.
Our tour director Bea Ungor was excellent, it wasn’t easy to handle 47 people with different wants and needs. She was very patient, always smiling and helpful. Our coach driver Giovanni was wonderful and very safe driver. He kept coach very clean and made us comfortable on the long days driving between cities and countries. All local tour guides were excellent too. The tour was fast paced to cover all those cities in the time allocated.
Hotel accommodations were fairly good, comfortable to stay though some were far from the city. Breakfasts were excellent and included dinners were very good too. We had fun together in the group on our trip specially when we went to Oktoberfest in Munich. We got lucky that Oktoberfest fell exactly in our tour dates in Munich. It was an awesome experience to be in there. We did all the optional excursions, and they were worth doing!
This is our 1st time we have booked with Global Journeys and our 2nd Cosmos tour. Our experience was beyond our expectations and we would book and travel with them again. Yvonne at Global Journeys was excellent, very helpful and always replied too our emails promptly. I would not hesitate to recommend to my friends.
Georgie at Global Journeys was friendly and efficient as always and the booking process through was smooth and seamless. The tour covered a lot of ground and the landscapes (when not shrouded in fog, mist and rain) were varied and spectacular. The sheer number of animal sightings was a highlight of the trip. Animals sighted included a herd of bison read more conveniently located next to the road, a foraging grizzly, pronghorn antelope, mule deer, elk (including a male with huge antlers encountered in the car park of the Grant Village Lodge), mountain goats (at Mount Rushmore), squirrels and prairie dogs.
Dense fog prevented the tour group from viewing the monument to Crazy Horse and the majestic peaks of the Grand Tetons. Heavy snowfall in Yellowstone led to the closure of roads within the national park which necessitated a series of detours that meant a whole day of sightseeing was lost. Bad weather is part and parcel of the travel experience and the tour guide, Todd did his best to lift the spirits of the group. He also found alternative accommodation for us in West Yellowstone when access to our accommodation in Grant Village was blocked.
The standard of accommodation was better than I expected . The only disappointments were in relation to the hotels in Keystone (the room was the size of a shoe box), Salt Lake City (the wifi was intermittent and unreliable) and Page (the hotel corridors, lifts and common areas were grubby).
This was the 3rd tour we did (myself, my husband, and another couple). We chose this tour by Cosmos for the free time it allowed, the cost and the variety of different places covered over 17 days (we included the 2 day extension in New York). We had already done the Canadian Rockies and Alaskan cruise, and the Canadian Maritimes, so we needed finish read more our Canada trip with their eastern cities and of course New York.
Brian, our tour director, was friendly and helpful, though somewhat unorganised and later found out he had only just returned to touring after a few years. Most of those on tour were Australians and NZ'ers, and one US couple - therefore much of the baseball stats and players mentioned by Brian were out of our comprehension! Tour was quite hectic, but although we are not big fans of city touring, each city we visited was unique and we had some excellent local guides who were very passionate about their city, so it wasn't hard to see it through their eyes and warm to the places.
Highlights were seeing Niagara Falls at night lit up with laser coloured lighting; the Amish were very interesting to visit; dinner up the CN tower in Toronto; loved Quebec city (you really thought you were in France) and we did get to see some Fall colours beginning. Weather was 100 degrees above the average and we had quite a few really hot and humid days, but also some beautiful warm balmy evenings. We enjoyed our optional excursions and really appreciated the extra two nights in New York before heading the long trek home to Perth, WA. Highly recommended and we met some really lovely fellow travellers!
A very well organised trip with a great variety of included excursions. 2Golden West AdventureMichelle & Gregory, New Zealand, Sep 2017
Our tour guide, John was extremely knowledgeable of the areas we traveled and often had lots of extra info and stories as we were driving along. This is an easy & safe way to see places that would be too tiring to do as a road trip for a couple, so was made very relaxing by coach trip. Only downside was a few very long days and a couple of very early read more starts.
Some of the overnight stops were a bit remote with not a great selection of restaurants around but most of the hotels were very comfortable and nicely appointed. Harrahs in Las Vegas is under renovations and has been for a long time and I think Cosmos needs to have either an alternative hotel or make sure its guests are accommodated in the already renovated floors and rooms as there was a lot of noise & dust during the day but in saying that we weren't in our room during work hours.
By far the best holiday we have had so far thanks to Cosmos Tours and perfect weather. The tour guide Elise was so knowledgeable and couldn't do enough to make our holiday enjoyable and everything easy and comfortable. The places we visited will go down in memory as some of the best in our lives it was all perfect!
Cosmos Western Treasures 15 day Tour 5Golden West AdventureChris & Cameron, QLD, Australia, Sep 2017
Just arrived back from a fabulous 15 day tours of Western USA. We were very impressed with the whole process from booking the tour to completion. The booking process on Global Journeys website was easy. The Tour Director was incredibly knowledgeable and helpful - nothing was too much trouble for him. The Bus Driver was friendly, very experienced read more and handled the busy roads without any problems. The highlights were our helicopter flight over the Grand Canyon, El Capitan and Bridalveil Falls in Yosemite National Park, Las Vegas, the differences in the landscape of California, Arizona and Nevada and the magnificent clear photos we were able to take of San Francisco from Twin Peaks.
Unforgettable Emerald Isle Tour 1Irish DiscoveryShoo, WA, Australia, Sep 2017
The Irish Explorer tour was really unforgettable. Whenever I need to calm myself I just think about the green landscape of the Emerald Isle. The other calming effect is to revisit the glorious a day in Dingle Peninsula. Our tour group was so lucky to see a boisterous Irish Pub wedding prior to our experience of the ambient Irish Pub. We would travel read more with tour director Julian and coach driver Gary again and the coach tour was a great "craic".
Slower paced tour, allowing more free time. 9Highlights of GermanyStan & Geraldine, WA, Australia, Sep 2017
This is the third "Cosmos" tour we have undertaken and I have to say that we were pleasantly surprised at the quality of the hotels used during the whole tour. In previous tours we found there were some hotels that missed the mark, for various reasons, but not this time. Even if located a little away from the city there was always transport options read more close by, and sometimes alongside the hotels. Breakfast at all the hotels was also excellent.
The tour director, did a great job, especially in the way she had to handle a passenger with physical and medical conditions that developed within this and an immediately previous tour. The included tours with local guides were good, as were some of the optional tours, the highlight for us being the "River Danube Evening Dinner Cruise", not for the dinner but the stunning views of all the buildings illuminated along the river. As always, we feel the optional tours are a little expensive, but we have come to accept that.
Things that we felt were not good were that following a 10 hour coach journey from Prague to Budapest to go straight to a restaurant for dinner before checking into the hotel was not on. Also, in Salzburg it took at least 15 minutes to walk back to the coach, in pouring rain, from dinner at a city restaurant. Accepting that Cosmos are not responsible for the weather, the consideration of the restaurant's location should be taken into account when they know that majority of the passengers are elderly and find walking a long way difficult at the best of times. As usual, the booking process with Global Journeys was faultless, many thanks to Georgie for her professional work once again! (Ed: Review based on slightly different itinerary. Trip name and itinerary updated this season)
Scenic Journey tour of Scandinavia 4Focus on ScandinaviaRasiah & Denise, WA, Australia, Sep 2017
A very enjoyable tour of Denmark, Norway and Sweden. The highlight of the tour was Norway which is easily one of the most scenic countries that we have visited in recent years. We would have liked more time to explore Copenhagen and Stockholm as the optional excursions took up most of our time in those cities. The tour guide Jane and the driver Igor read more were excellent and the hotel accommodation value very comfortable. We particularly liked the Quality Straand hotel in Telemark and the Best Western hotel in Stockholm. The only shortcoming was the time spent on the coach. Perhaps extending the tour by one or two days and dropping Odense in Denmark and including a stop in Gotenburg would have made the tour more enjoyable. It's also a pity we did not drive across the Oresund Bridge.
Amazing trip through the Canadian Rockies 6The Canadian RockiesPaul, NSW, Australia, Sep 2017
Would definitely recommend this trip. The itinerary included all the must see locations and stayed for 2 days at many of them. The accommodation and tour inclusions were all very good. Most of the optional tours were excellent and were some of the most memorable features of the trip.
The tour director was very helpful, including re-scheduling some read more of the optional tours at short notice to make the most of the prevailing weather conditions. I would also recommend booking through Global Journeys. A number of changes occurred after we booked (one of the hotels burnt down) and Global Journeys kept us informed at every step along the way.
We had an amazing time on this tour. We chose to travel with Cosmos because they seemed the best value, and for what we paid we were extremely happy with the inclusions. Our tour guide was extremely knowledgeable and helpful, our group while large was a good mix, the coach was comfortable and with one or two exceptions the accommodation was great. The read more tour itself took us through so many wonderful places in Italy, there wasn't a day wasted but the pace was manageable. Make sure to budget for the optional excursions, we did almost all of them and they were very much worth it. And booking through Global Journeys couldn't have been easier, we will definitely be using them again.
