Great Value for Money and Worry Free

The Canadian Rockies

The tour was great value for money. It included all accommodation costs and transport during the tour, including transfers to optional excursions. Our bags were handled to and from the coach which made the whole experience easy. We traveled during spring and we had expected to see the beautiful blue lakes. We were too early in the season to see these read more as they were still frozen, however this still made the scenery spectacular and the bonus was that there weren't any queues anywhere. We will be returning and completing the tour in autumn in a few years so that we see everything in a different season. It was fabulous.
The tour covered a pretty extensive area & exceeded our expectations. We thoroughly enjoyed it, although there where parts I could have lived without. We had a small group of 24 and very friendly bunch. Tour director, Peter, was excellent. Hats off to the drivers, they were skillful. This was our 3rd tour with Cosmos tours and we will be going on the read more fourth and fifth soon...
The accommodation with this trip was great. Except for our 2nd stay at Kensington high street, I'm not sure what happened but in the 3 weeks we were on the tour the hotel was off its game. The included meals were quite good with the exception of Jury's inn Plymouth, I chose to eat dinner off-site, sorry but it was bad but I would not hesitate to recommend this tour to anyone.
Superbly paced and planned trip 5
Christine, VIC, Australia, May 2018
After having a tour last year that at times felt like we were being rushed to the point of being out of breath, I worried that this trip would be the same. Not what you want when you are surrounded by such natural beauty.
I must give an enormous shout out first to our tour guide Alma! She was absolutely exceptional in every way! First of all she read more is a genuinely warm and generous woman. She was full of delight and humour that made all her commentary on the coach a sheer joy to listen to! Her professionalism and skill was always on full display. When small problems arose that were out of her control like the train running late and excursions cancelled due to weather she sprung into action and arranged outings for us. She made it her mission that we got the most out of every hour. I cannot praise her highly enough! Our bus driver Nelson was great and a lot of fun to interact with! We had a great bunch of people on the trip who made it such a pleasurable experience!
What can you say about Banff, other than absolutely stunning and breathtaking! So much beauty and the pace in which we travelled allowed us to feel relaxed and take it all in. Jasper was great as well. To walk down the street and have 20 Elk walking casually a few feet away from you was magical. The excursions were great, the highlight arranged by Alma was a night time outing to see wildlife, something I will always treasure.
I loved the train ride and the fact that it was late turned into an advantage as it was light and we got to see more of the stunning scenery. A great joy and stroke of luck was seeing a black bear casually standing by the tracks! I had worried before booking if this itinerary was special enough. Well it surpassed my expectations and I loved every day we spent travelling!
This was an excellent tour with superb scenery throughtout the whole time. Two night stays in all the resorts was appreciated. Our tour guide Sharon was very good. She was very knowledgeable and helpful and friendly and added to the trip immensely. Only downside was that no meals were provided at all which added to the cost. Even breakfast each day read more would have been better. But overall you won’t be disappointed.
We had an amazing time! We were very happy with all the hotels, they were clean and comfortable and very well located in each town.
Thank you Juliet for helping me with so many questions I had when booking this holiday. You were so very patient, knowledgeable and very helpful. It made booking this first overseas holiday of ours so stress free.
Overall the trip was amazing. I cannot fault the work of Todd, our tour director, he was very organised, friendly and well informed. It was not his fault that our final dinner at the Italian restaurant was a disaster - the food and service were terrible, and I paid $20 US for a third of a glass of wine (chianti) - I was upset as were several others read more who paid for beverages. The trip was so good up till then. I think that Todd was embarrassed and he'll not go back there again, I'm sure.
Not providing breakfast is a bummer. I am diabetic and need to have breakfast every day. 5 brekkies were included, but as we paid so much money for the trip, Cosmos can do much better in this regard I feel... hence my overall rating of Very Good, and not Excellent. Our group of 33 gelled together well and I have made some life-long friends.
Highlights for me: Seeing Fatima, Lourdes and a chance meeting with the niece of Sr Lucia of Fatima.
The tour itself covered a lot and I did and saw more than I could have expected (the itinerary did not leave a lot of alone time).
Between the optional excursions, some long distance travelling days (time to catch up with sleep on the bus), local read more included tours, daily masses, nightly processions at Fatima and Lourdes, meals with the group, pretty much every day was full on. However, you could choose to skip some of the activities (eg. optional excursions) if you wanted to but why would you!
I attended 3 out of the 4 optional excursions and they did not disappoint - they are a must do whilst in that region of the world. If you come for a pilgrimage, then this tour would suit you. Just note that some of the paths of the places visited are uneven and you must be able to climb up and down steps, otherwise you're just going to miss out on seeing some of the good stuff - wear comfortable shoes. Also, expect a lot of walking at certain places.
Suggestion: If you want to see more of Lisbon and Barcelona, take extra days before/end of the tour.
I personally would have liked more time in Lourdes because there were many things to see and do.
We were fortunate enough to have a priest travelling with us on the tour (unplanned but greatly appreciated) because he provided the private English-spoken masses at some beautiful, rustic old churches along the tour and in some of the quaintest chapels around. That's why we were privileged to be able to have more than the scheduled masses on the tour. The other masses were public ones and usually in one or more foreign languages.
Our tour director, Ines, worked hard on organising a lot of these private masses throughout the tour (as well as other things) and was very knowledgeable of the history of the regions we visited. Our driver, Sandro, was expert and skilled at manoeuvering our large coach through some of the region's narrowest and smallest streets and laneways as well as providing a safe journey throughout the tour - so thanks to them both for their hard work!
The local guides (including those on optional excursions) were also very good to excellent quality speakers and knowledgeable about their subject matter. A special mention to Julia (in Lisbon) and Sonia (in Tomar) for their enthusiasm and they kept good pace.
The accommodation throughout the tour was mixed but generally good. Fatima hotel - great location. Burgos hotel - good location but I had a tiny, unbearably hot room which I could not control. Santiago de Compostela hotel - outside the main town centre but the most luxurious-looking hotel of the lot.
Lisbon and Barcelona hotels - located away from the main downtown areas (which I personally preferred because they were quieter and closer to the airports for the start/end of the tour). Also, Hotel Porta Fira (Barcelona) had a great breakfast selection.
Lourdes hotel (Quality Hotel Christina) - sadly, the worst accommodation of the tour due to: its bad location (about 850m walking distance one way to the sanctuary, according to Google Maps); a good brisk 10 - 15 minute walking pace (for an able-bodied person). As I had visited the Lourdes sanctuary many times throughout the day and night, the location was not ideal (especially when walking in the rain). The food served at this hotel was also average and minimal (at breakfast). This hotel was also very crowded with tour groups and pilgrimages (some of them young, excited, screaming children/teenagers) which made it difficult to get a lift to our rooms on the top floor. But having said that, I guess being on a pilgrimage tour means that you sometimes need to contend with being a little less comfortable.
The tour I took started on 24 Apr in Lisbon and the weather there was good at the time but as you get up in the mountains, along the Pyrenees (think Lourdes), then expect it to be cold, windy, rainy, sometimes hail and snow. As we went back down to Barcelona, the weather was a bit warmer but still some patchy showers.
As for Global Journeys handling of my booking, there was initially a bit of a mix up with the premature closing of my booking quote but when Georgie returned to work to handle it, there weren't any problems. It was pretty much straightforward from then on.
Overall, a very fulfilling pilgrimage tour. I managed to see and do everything that I wanted to (and then some). And made a lot of friends along the way.
This tour gave me a good insight into each country. Our Bulgarian national guide was wonderful. Being a professor of ancient history and linguistics makes her commentary flow out effortlessly; this makes listening to her not only interesting but relaxing.
Novotel Centrum Hotel in Budapest and Sheraton Hotel in Bucharest are the best across-the-board. read more The only hotel that let us down was Yantra Hotel in Bulgaria. The room's non-adjustable air conditioner is more like a fan blowing out weak air in a very hot room during a hot day! Most uncomfortable night! If the air conditioner is replaced with a fully functioning one, I would give this hotel a "thumbs-up".
Our Tour Director, Maya, and our driver, Ady, were friendly and helpful. Ady is also a safe driver. Thanks to Jemma for organizing my travel documents and delivered to me in a timely manner.
A very enjoyable trip and appreciated the assistance from Jemma of Global Journeys. Highly recommend their services. Randy was our tour guide for the whole journey and his services were marvellous. He is an experienced, knowledgeable and attention to details type of person. This is the first time we engaged on a Cosmos tour and certainly won’t be the last.
Wonderful holiday 2
Pauline & Herbert, New Zealand, Apr 2018
It was a tour filled with endless attractions. Items such as the acrobatics show was out of this world. Dances that we saw were fantastic. All in all we had a jolly good time. Tour Director Charles was a friendly, helpful, caring and knowledgeable person who provided a professional service throughout the tour.
The only improvement that is needed is read more to find a way of minimising the need for tour participants to carry heavy (main) luggage over long distances at the airports and railway stations - even through escalators. In fact a suitcase fell on me while on the escalator and I fell down on the person behind me. Luckily he was strong enough to catch me thereby preventing any injury. This is important because the majority of participants are senior citizens. Anyway it was a fantastic tour that we would recommend to anyone.
This was an amazing holiday and we would definitely recommend it for first time visitors to South America. Starting with the Tambopata Eco Lodge, what an amazing experience. Only 6 of us and our lovely guide spent 3 days of fun and adventure together. Then back to Lima to begin the next part of the tour, 17 people in total.
Accommodation was way read more better than we were expecting, always walking distance to everything, full size coach so heaps of room, great local guides and excellent included meals. Our guide did all the boarding passes and collection of luggage at the airports, there were a few flights and the airports are a bit chaotic but all went smoothly.
We did the Arequipa extension and were the only ones so we had our own driver and guide with an extremely comfortable Mercedes van to travel in. So glad we added this on, it was our favourite part of the trip but beware as altitude may be a problem for some as you are quite high here. Peru is absolutely stunning, from The Amazon to the mountains -gorgeous!
The only thing we’d say about the entire trip is that a decent level of fitness is required to get the most out of everything including the Amazon lodge adventure. We are in our mid 50’s and reasonably fit but there was definitely some huffing and puffing.
We have travelled many places and quite often independently but for a no hassle, stress free holiday, this organised tour is excellent value and we would definitely recommend. We have used Global Journeys a few times now and everything has always been amazing. Always efficient with quotes and information. We will definitely use them again if booking tours. Thanks Yvonne!
Our Cosmos tour through Switzerland was beautiful and really allowed for a relaxed way to see the country. The age group was much older than us which we were unaware of beforehand but that didn't change us having a great time and falling in love with Switzerland. Booking through Global Journeys made it an easy and hassle free process.
Fantastic tour through major parts of Europe. Excellent introduction if you have not had a chance to do one of these tours. Our tour guide (Sonia) was very well versed in every aspect of the tour. Her local knowledge, sense of humour and pace made it a well rewarded trip.
We recommend extra days in London prior to the start of the tour and after read more the tour , in Paris, as both cities have alot to offer. The coach was brand new, with good facilities on board. We had a very good driver, Guillermo who was always on time and ahead of schedule. We can now look forward to another tour.
Our thanks to Leanne (Global Journeys) for organising this tour.
I thoroughly enjoyed this tour. So much to see and explore in Spain. Most of the iconic and UNESCO World Heritage Sites were covered. Morocco stands out for me especially Medina of Fez; it is incredible! Market selling whole camel head was on display. Photos taken at the Tannery showing the dyeing process of leather were like out of the National Geographic! read more Our Tour Director, John Shaw, has a wealth of knowledge on all these three countries. He went beyond and above his duties to keep us entertained. He is approachable and helpful. Khalid, our driver kept us safe with his attentive driving. Jemma was great in having my travel documents delivered to me in a timely manner.
Simply Amazing!

We had the time of our lives on our Cosmos Grand European tour. Memories that we will have forever. The tour was fast paced as we expected, so we were able to experience so many fabulous destinations and sightseeing opportunities. We didn’t have a care in the world as everything was organised for us. Georgie was a pleasure to deal with concerning all read more of our booking needs and any queries we had were answered immediately.
Our tour guide Clara Crawford was absolutely amazing, she was super efficient and very knowledgeable. Nothing was too much trouble for Clara and she couldn’t have looked after us better! Our driver Antonio was a brilliant driver and we were felt safe and comfortable on the coach at all times. Thank you Cosmos for such a wonderful holiday!
Trip packed with great sights and experiences 12
Malcolm & Patricia , NSW , Australia, Mar 2018
This was not our first on the go trip with Cosmos but it was the first that failed to provide a reasonable amount of free time to allow us to do our own exploring. There were some days that we were so time poor that we had to pre-purchase our lunch and eat it on the coach. Sure that gave us time to see the many sights included in this tour but it did read more not give us time to get out and mix with the locals and experience their daily lives.
In Osaka the hotel was so crowded that they could not get us into either breakfast room to serve breakfast in time for us to be ready to leave at the appointed hour that morning. We missed out on breakfast and the small gift from the hotel by way of compensation did not satisfy our appetite and was worth a fraction of the cost of the missed meal. There was no organised rotation of seats in the coach and so we had 3 fellow travelers who dominated and selfishly occupied the same seats the whole time.
Generally the tour was very good and very well organised. Should have included some sight seeing in London, as there was no point going there without it. Consider drop off and pick up at Victoria station in future. The Tour Director was outstanding and handled the tour well, and the driver was excellent.
This is our second time travelling with a Cosmos tour, so we had an idea how things operated. Though that was almost 5 years ago! The seat rotation was still there. Occasionally you get people forgetting where they were supposed to be and sitting on the wrong seats, but that was quickly sorted and it is a fair system. Ally, our tour director, was excellent. read more She is knowledgeable and had plenty of yarns. Never a boring moment on the bus.
Cosmos took us to some of the most beautiful sceneries of Ireland. Our tour was only for 9 days and we covered almost all of Ireland and some parts of Northern Ireland. We would have loved to spend more time in some of those places. We also included all the optional excursions. We are glad we did as we had so much fun.
The hotels that we stayed in were cosy and clean. On those nights where dinners were not included, the hotel locations were quite central. Breakfast was excellent. Gerry, our driver, was great. Even driving on the winding and narrow roads, we never felt unsafe. And Ireland has plenty of that! We also got plenty of toilet stops.
Our group was a good mix of young and old, couples, family, friends travelling together and a few solo travellers. We had a few older travellers and Ally made sure they were well looked after. We had an amazing time visiting Ireland. It was as beautiful as I expected and more, and with a great bunch of people whom I will never forget.
I really enjoyed the Florida Discovery tour, my third tour with Cosmos/Globus and as usual they didn't disappoint. Our tour director Patrick had all the details down to a fine art so we were never in any doubt about what was happening next. He even threw in a few extras such as daily chocolates on the bus and a free slice of key lime pie in Key West! read more
The standard of hotels was mostly excellent, especially in Miami where we were in a Hilton just a block from the beach. The pace of the tour was good with mostly two night stays and we covered all the places I wanted to see. Kennedy Space Centre and Key West were highlights for me but really it was all excellent.
With only 19 people we were always on time because everyone was so cooperative with punctuality and they were all lovely people. Our driver Tony skillfully negotiated the sometimes narrow streets and always had a smile, despite what would have been long days for him at times.
I highly recommend this tour for anyone who wants to take the stress out of driving themselves around as well as being able to gain knowledge you would never find if doing this yourself. Thank you again Cosmos for a wonderful holiday. I'll be back.
South India Tour 7
George & Cynthia, QLD, Australia, Feb 2018
Booking was easy with Global Journeys, unlike the e-visa. We had a very long wait in Chennai airport due to a very slack immigration officer, who took over an hour to pass a family of four and a couple even though we had e-visa's. Other people on the trip had the same problem!
The trip was good although we thought too many temples, I would have liked read more to see more of the coastal regions or as an optional extension as was offered last year. Hotels were very good, although sometimes a little far from the towns. Tour pace and the people on the trip were all good.
