Itinerary

Welcome to the “Big Apple!” Your Tour Director is on hand from 3-6:00 p.m. this afternoon to answer any questions.

Once you get settled, perhaps head out and start exploring the ‘city that never sleeps' with its world-famous shopping and restaurants that represent nearly one hundred different national cuisines.

New York City is one of the world's most exciting cities, buzzing with atmosphere and packed with fascinating sights. On today's guided sightseeing tour, see the major attractions—Broadway, the Empire State Building, Rockefeller Center, and the 9/11 Memorial. This evening, choose from the city's many fine restaurants or maybe take in a Broadway show. (B)

Depart Manhattan, heading across New Jersey through the Pocono Mountains and into upstate New York. Late this afternoon, cross the border to the Canadian side of the Niagara River in Ontario. Spend the next two nights in beautiful Niagara Falls. (B)

This morning, enjoy a sightseeing cruise where you'll get up close views of the thundering world-famous Niagara Falls. Fall in love with the falls even more with an optional flightseeing excursion by helicopter or an optional lunch at the soaring Skylon Tower. Your afternoon is at leisure. Consider visiting the Butterfly Conservatory, Great Gorge Adventure, Niagara Parks' Botanical Gardens, or maybe ride the aerial cable car.

Please Note: Operation of the Niagara Falls sightseeing cruise is subject to favorable weather and/or river conditions. Favorable conditions usually exist from May to October. When conditions are unfavorable, a visit to Journey Behind the Falls will be substituted.

Head southeast through the Appalachian Mountains to the town of Corning, NY, known as the “Crystal City.”
Visit the Corning Museum of Glass, the world's most comprehensive collection of glass, with over 50,000 objects representing more than 3,500 years of history. This evening is free for you to enjoy this charming town. Perhaps take a stroll to Centerway Square which was once voted Best Public Square in the country.

Travel south through the Pocono Mountains and into the Susquehanna River Valley, then on to Philadelphia, the birthplace of American independence. The “City of Brotherly Love” is steeped in history from Independence Hall, where the Declaration of Independence and Constitution were signed, to the Liberty Bell. Your orientation tour focuses on the historic landmarks as well as more current ones, like the steps of the Philadelphia Museum of Art made famous in the movie ‘Rocky.'

Stop at Reading Terminal Market, one of America's largest and oldest public markets, for lunch where you can experience local favorites like Philly Cheesesteak sandwiches or traditional Pennsylvania Dutch food.

Travel to Washington, DC, the U.S. capital and seat of government, for a 2-night stay. Have the afternoon to enjoy the world-renowned, and free, Smithsonian museums or take a stroll around the National Mall. Later, an optional evening out features dinner and an illumination tour shining a light on the city's most famous monuments and memorials. (B)

The nation's capital is a sightseeing treasure trove, and your half-day tour with a Local Guide features the Lincoln Memorial, the Washington Monument, the Ford Theatre and photo stops at Capitol Hill and the White House. The afternoon is free for exploration. Perhaps visit the National Museum of American History to see Dorothy's ruby slippers from the Wizard of Oz, the National Museum of Natural History to see dinosaur bones and the Hope Diamond, or the National Gallery of Art to see the only Da Vinci oil painting in the western hemisphere. (B)

Your vacation ends this morning. Consider extending your stay with extra nights to further explore Washington DC. For passengers who would like to return to New York City, the motorcoach will transfer you to our New York hotel, the Fairfield Inn & Suites Manhattan/Central Park, at no additional cost. (B)

Good solid tour 0 , NSW, Australia, Jul 2024
Well run tour but a bit bare in terms of itinerary. Some of the accommodation was not central. Nice tour guide and people on the trip.
Cosmos Niagara Tour 3 , QLD, Australia, May 2018
Overall a good tour. A couple of long days on the bus but that goes with the territory. Some accommodation was below what we expected.
Best trip ever!   3 , QLD, Australia, Sep 2017
By far the best holiday we have had so far thanks to Cosmos Tours and perfect weather. The tour guide Elise was so knowledgeable and couldn't do enough to make our holiday enjoyable and everything easy and comfortable. The places we visited will go down in memory as some of the best in our lives it was all perfect!
8 Day New York , Niagara Falls, Philadelphia, Washington DC 14 , New Zealand, Jun 2017
We would never have seen as much as we did if we travelled solo. It was exciting to see the places we have seen in movies and on the news etc. highlights were every day! But I must say the monuments in Washington were fantastic and very emotional. I,m keen to read more American history now.

Our tour mix was good, Americans, Australians, English and ...read more kiwis! A young schoolboy and his grandmother , young couples and older couples, families and single travellers. The ones we got to know the most were those who did the optional extras. Everyone was really looking out for each other and couples joined up with a single if they were going somewhere, it was a friendly bunch. The optional extras were good. Everyday we moved 4 rows which was good, gave us another view and we met a new person in the seats across the aisle!

The hotels were all very good. Only Niagara Falls had a fridge and a supermarket next door to buy real milk! The New York hotel had no beverage making facilities in the rooms. New York location fantastic, Niagara had a bus stop at the gate into the falls and you could purchase a daily pass , Philadelphia was in the city, Washington hotel was out of town in the most beautiful old town / suburb Alexandria.

Day 1 was a non event, we just got tour information handed to us. Everyone commented it would have been nice to have a social hour for people to introduce themselves etc especially as everyone staying in same hotel and get a short outline of the following day. At times it felt like we were asking the Tour Director what time do we meet etc . The Globus handbook for the tour could be written so that it could be used as a trip diary etc. Local guides in all places were really good. We had never been in a bus tour holiday before. We enjoyed it very much and will now probably do another one.
Great holiday, fuss free 3 , NSW, Australia, May 2017
Great holiday, France tour director had done it all before, and handed out information sheets to all so we knew what was expected, well done. Niagara was amazing, had enough free time in New York to do some exploring. Hotel near central park was in good position, but like some hotels in USA had no fridge or coffee or tea making facilities. Washington ...read more tour and Philadelphia all excellent. Igor was a great coach driver, as it was coming up to memorial day weekend and extremely busy. We both thoroughly enjoyed our trip. Both our USA tours west and east coast booked through Jemma at Global Journeys, would recommend them, fuss free.
Very enjoyable trip 5 , Australia, Oct 2014
Very enjoyable trip, however I feel that the following could be improved. Meet & Greet - I arrived late on the first day, but was advised by fellow passengers that there was no event. Name Tags for passengers would be an advantage. Spoke to everyone, but had no idea of their names, with the exception of travellers I became friendly with. Whilst hotels ...read more were above average, I had to pay for milk in the hotel in Philadelphia. USA hotels should adopt the habit of providing the staples e.g. tea bags, kettles & milk for non USA clients. Air Travel, I found very stressful. Travelling between domestic & international was horrendous. The terminals are too far apart and when planes arrive late, I found had to run from one end of the airports to the other. More then 1.5 hours should be allowed for any air travel that involves domestic & international. Almost all the flights were running at least a half hour late, and I nearly missed the San Fran to Sydney flight (final calls were made before I could get anywhere near the gate. On the whole, it was a fantastic holiday, more time could have been spent in Philadelphia, which was by far the best part of the trip. I would certainly consider another East Coast USA or Canada trip. Special Mention for our Coach Driver - Grace, Grace by name Amazing Grace by professionalism & friendliness. Nothing was too much trouble.
