Itinerary

Welcome to Ontario's capital and the largest city in Canada. Your Tour Director is on hand from 3-6:00pm this afternoon in the lobby to answer any questions.

Toronto is considered the most culturally diverse city in the world with its population representing a wide range of ethnicities and languages. Once checked into your hotel, perhaps do some shopping at nearby Eaton Centre or venture a little further and check out the Hockey Hall of Fame or try some local culinary treats at St. Lawrence Market, a city landmark over two centuries old.

Begin the day with city sightseeing including major landmarks such as City Hall, Union Station, and the CN Tower. Then skirt the shores of Lake Ontario to Niagara Falls, one of the most loved landmarks in the world. Board your Niagara Falls sightseeing cruise for a thrilling ride to view the thundering falls up close. Then consider joining the optional excursion afterward to the Skylon Tower for more amazing views of the Falls and a buffet lunch before returning to Toronto.

Please Note: Operation of the Niagara Falls sightseeing cruise is subject to favorable weather and/or river conditions. Favorable conditions usually exist from May to October. When conditions are unfavorable, a visit to Journey Behind the Falls will be substituted.

Leave Ontario's capital and stop in Kingston, a city with an exciting history dating back more than 300 years. Proceed along the St. Lawrence River with splendid vistas of Thousand Islands National Park. At Rockport, board your boat for a cruise that takes a scenic route through the many islands that are sprinkled with charmingly simple to opulent summer homes. Next, head to Ottawa, Canada's beautiful capital.

This morning, enjoy a sightseeing tour of this lovely city on the banks of the Ottawa River and the Rideau Canal. See the Royal Canadian Mint, the embassy district, and stately Parliament Hill. Suggestions for this afternoon include a visit to the magnificent Canadian Museum of History or perusing the array of restaurants and shops at lively Byward Market. Or join an optional brewery tour where you'll go behind the scenes at a variety of local brewers to learn about beer making and also get to sample the products!

Drive into the French-Canadian province of Québec for a sudden change in language and tradition. Visit Notre Dame du Cap de la Madeleine and its Basilica and learn of its miraculous past. Follow the historic King's Highway along the north shore of the mighty St. Lawrence River before arriving in Québec City, the heart of French Canada and a UNESCO World Heritage Site. The rest of the day is free. Tonight, join a unique optional excursion to the Érablière le Chemin du Roy Sugar Shack to learn how maple syrup is made and enjoy a traditional Québec dinner.

Enjoy a guided tour of Canada's only walled city, crowned by the turrets of Château Frontenac. Until the British victory of 1759, Old Québec was the center of New France; today, it's a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Within the walls reside Place d'Armes, Laval Seminary, the star-shaped Citadelle, and ancient Place Royale. Also, see the stone houses crowding the narrow streets of Lower Town by the St. Lawrence River.

The afternoon and evening are free. Perhaps join an optional guided tour of the iconic Chateau Frontenac to learn more about the famous people and historical events that have been a part of this majestic landmark hotel. Then tonight, enjoy an optional excursion to Montmorency Falls, cascading 272 feet into the Saint Lawrence River, followed by dinner featuring local cuisine at a charming 18th century restaurant on nearby Orleans Island.

This morning head south for ultra-modern Montréal, named a UNESCO City of Design in 2006. Major attractions on this afternoon's guided tour include once-walled Old Montréal and majestic views of the city from the top of Mount Royal. This evening is at leisure.

Your vacation ends this morning.

The tour was very enjoyable and allowed us to cover many places and distance, ad to see a lot that we couldn't do on our own in terms of time. The tour director and drive were fabulous, helpful and knowledgable. The organisation by Tracy before we went was also fabulous.

My only concerns, which were given to Cosmos were as follows - 1. The group read more was too big which made transit, waiting and movement long. Plus you don't really get to know anyone well. Need to know numbers upfront before booking of how large the tour can get. 2. The age group was mostly a lot older than us. This means additional activities can be skewed to different age groups and makes it hard to form friendships. Again just good to know before we book. 3. The accommodation a few places wasn't great - mainly too old and poor location. I would prefer to pay a little extra to be located in town, especially as female travellers. Thanks.

GJ: Thanks for your feedback Lisa and Olivia. We list on every trip page - under Trip Overview - the maximum group size. The actually number of travellers on each trip will vary right up until departure. Cosmos trips are open age, so the make up on each departure will vary too - some destinations or trip styles lend to themselves to older travellers, others to families and on many trips there is a good mix of ages travelling together. Cosmos won't provide you (or us) with a run down of everyone's age before departure - it's the nature of group touring. Finally, Cosmos arel listed as "affordable" tours, so sometimes acccommodation may be ouside the city centre, and in your case not up to your expectations. Again we list budget and accommodation levels for every trip - under Trip Overview.

Globus (sister brand to Cosmos) is a more premium touring brand, with more inclusions and a higher level of accommodation, however the trips are more expensive as a result. I hope that provides you with some context and helps you select a more suitable trip next time you book with us! We hope!
Fantastic tour with Gladys who made it extremely enjoyable   0 , WA, Australia, May 2025
Loved the tour from start to finish. Took the tour up to the tower at Niagara Falls with amazing views. Entertaining from start to finish. Even enjoyed the bus trips thanks to Gladys and her treats along the way.
A well organised trip throughout eastern Canada. 4 , NSW, Australia, May 2019
An excellent tour travelling through the eastern cities of French Canada. Our tour guide Peter and coach driver Steve were excellent in keeping our group organised and informed throughout the trip. Peter kept us all entertained and informed with his vast knowledge of this region. A few highlights for me were Niagara Falls, Ottawa City, the included read more cruise around the thousand island region and the French influence of Quebec City and Montreal. The accommodation included in this trip was excellent and the optional tours are something everyone should consider.
Ontario & Canadian French Quarter 5 , NSW, Australia, Aug 2018
This trip encompassed a small taste of the French province of Canada leaving you wanting more, which I think was a good thing. We were not rushed as we spent two nights at each hotel, the hotels and locations were very good allowing plenty of time to explore each city, and basically, that's how the trip went, we had lots of our own time to seek out read more what inspired us to come to this region of Canada. The trip itself bought you to the Hotel and you could do as you wished. There was little by way of group involvement other than the Niagra falls tour, and with no meals preorganised as part of the trip, most often you were pointed in the direction of some good restaurants and set free. Although this would suit some travellers, being part of a tour group it gave little time to socialize and mingle with other group members. The three optional activities in the last two days where organized meals were set, and we could sit and get to know each other, which was great. Though I felt this was at the wrong end of the trip, we should have had at least one night of a group dinner to socialize at the beginning of the trip, their allowing us to bond. Aside from the days on the bus (where most people slept) interaction within the group fell a little short for me.
For me, the trip was most enjoyable and it will certainly entice me back to this region of Canada to experience more.
Ontario & French Canada 1 , NSW , Australia, Jul 2018
This tour is a perfect way to explore Canada. Our tour director Marisol was awesome, very knowledgeable, witty and well organised. History of places were well explained, we were given tips on where to go and eat, answered all our questions and were given enough time in attractions. Excellent driver Steve always ensuring our safety getting on and off read more the bus. Great optional tours. Hotels were in good location just walking distance to downtown. I just wish breakfast was included.

I booked this tour online with Global Journeys and Madeline handled everything and answered all my questions right away. She made my life easy organising this trip. This was my third tour with Cosmos and I'm quite happy with their services.
Ontario & French Canada 4 , QLD, Australia, Jun 2018
I would recommend tour groups between the ages of 35 - 50. This trip was good but due to the age of some, not everyone participated in the active activities therefore losing the group networking. The accommodation was in excellent locations however fridges would be more helpful.
East Canada 4 , WA, Australia, Sep 2016
This was an enjoyable tour of Eastern Canada and we visited many interesting cities. The coach was comfortable and accommodation in all cities except for Quebec was excellent. I can recommend this tour. Enjoy your trip to Canada. The inclusion of breakfast at all hotels would have enhanced our holiday as it would have provided the opportunity to meet other tour members.
Very well paced tour with sufficient free time 2 , NSW, Australia, May 2015
We thoroughly enjoyed our bus trip, no problems at all from booking process through to the end. Our tour director was very knowledgeable and helpful and kept us well informed of day to day arrangements and interesting facts and history of each place visited, the bus driver was courteous & professional. We found the tour very well paced with sufficient read more free time to ourselves to look around. All accomodation was excellent and in good locations to restaurants etc. The included excursions and the optionals we chose to do were interesting and enjoyable, the local guides when used added to our travel experience with their enthusiasm to share their knowledge of the area.
Many highlights on this tour 2 , Australia, Sep 2014
This was a well paced tour with 3 two nights stays. The included sightseeing was great. The local guides gave us all many enthusiastic insights to their home cities of Ottawa, Quebec City and Montreal. We spent an extra night in Toronto and enjoyed exploring this busy city , then taking the ferry to the relaxing Toronto Islands This is more of a comprehensive read more cities tour with a stunning Niagra Falls day trip and a beautiful Thousand islands cruise and not much scenery in between. Our tour director Mel was very professional and looked after us all and the driver was great
The hotels were good all had close by meal options. There were many highlights on this tour. Our favourite was probably wandering around historic Old Quebec and stopping for french onion soup and later on beaver tail (don't worry it's yummy pastry).
Extremely satisfying and well managed coach tour 1 , Australia, Jul 2014
This was an extremely satisfying and well managed coach tour and would be the best we have ever done. The sites & cities visited were very interesting and diverse, the pace of the tour was very good, giving everyone ample time for personal exploration and/or reflection. The optional activities and dinners provided flexibility for travellers. Above all read more we had an extremely intelligent, friendly and helpful tour director (Peter) with lots of local knowledge who added a very personal touch and experience to the tour - he gave his all to ensure that everyone's needs were addressed (we would rate him 10/10). It would be difficult to find a negative aspect of this tour ... it would be up there with the best.
