Itinerary

Welcome to Reykjavik!

At 6 pm, meet your Tour Director and travel companions for a welcome dinner at your hotel.

Included Meals: Dinner

Incredible Iceland

Start the day with an orientation drive around the capital city of Reykjavik before continuing to Thingvellir for a unique experience! Walk through the Rift Valley's landscape formed by shifting tectonic plates and stand on two continents at the same time! Later, arrive at the hot springs of Geysir for a real treat! Taste local specialties including freshly baked bread and a glass of Geysir Schnapps. Before arriving in the Vik Area, stop to take photos at the Gullfoss waterfalls. 221mi/356 km.

LOCAL FAVORITE - NATURAL WONDERS: Iceland is the only place in the world where separation between the North American and European geological rift (tectonic plates) are above sea level, and nowhere in the world are the edges of both plates as clearly visible than the Rift Valley in Thingvellir National Park.

Included Meals: Breakfast, Dinner

Ice Beauty

Admire the stunning scenery as you drive through Skaftafell national park and stop at Lake Jökulsárlón. Snap photos to capture the beauty of the glacier Vatnajökull, the largest in Europe. 155mi/250km.

TOUR HIGHLIGHT - PICTURE PERFECT: Marvel at the magnificent beauty of Lake Jökulsárlón, Iceland's largest lake. Here, Icebergs break away from the vast Vatnajökull Glacier (the Water Glacier) and drift gracefully toward the Atlantic. James Bond fans may recognize this dramatic site as the filming location of Die Another Day.

Included Meals: Breakfast, Dinner

Rainbows & Waterfalls

Today, take in the variety of colors in the ever-changing landscapes. Enjoy a photo stop at Vikurfjara to admire the dramatic coastline of basalt columns and black sand beaches. Admire the verdant green landscapes of the Skogafoss and Seljandsfoss waterfalls during a scenic drive. Then, continue to Hellishiðarvirkjun to visit the geothermal heat and electric power station. Later, arrive in Reykjavik and join an evening excursion to see the mesmerizing Northern Lights (weather permitting). 158mi/255km.

TOUR HIGHLIGHT - NATURAL WONDERS: The Aurora Borealis (Northern Lights) is one of the most dramatic natural phenomena that can be seen. A magical, natural light display that is only visible from a few places in the world. One of the best locations to witness this incredible event is Iceland.

Included Meals: Breakfast, Dinner

Remarkable Reykjavik

Enjoy a free day in Reykjavik to enjoy more local culture in one of the museums, browse the stores, or sample local specialties, like the delicious kanilsnúðar pastries (cinnamon rolls). This evening, join your travel companions for a farewell dinner at a local restaurant.

ENHANCED FREE TIME - CULTURE & TRADITION: The name of Iceland's capital city, Reykjavik, means “smoky bay.” It was named by the first settlers after the columns of steam that they could observe rising from its geothermal springs. Today Reykjavik has numerous geothermal swimming pools which are considered social hubs by many locals.
