Great tour to see America's National Parks. The coach broke down in Moab - miles from another town and we had to wait for hours for another coach, but this was the only hitch on an otherwise fabulous tour. Some long driving days but necessary to get to so many places. Would recommend this tour if you are interested in wildlife and the wild west.
A great variety; major cities as well as beautiful scenery, particularly Antelope 'slot' canyon, Bryce Canyon, Grand Canyon, Las Vegas and San Francisco.
Beautiful Scenery and colours with many animals in their natural surroundings, including a lone wolf, in Yellowstone. Well Paced tour, with excellent guide and driver. Only criticism was Yellowstone accommodation which was closing down for the season and had run out of certain foods, elsewhere accommodation was well positioned in towns that you could read more walk after dinner. We found Yvonne very easy to deal with and we would use Global Journeys again and recommend them to our friends. Thank you Yvonne.
All places we visited were well selected 2Shireen, ACT, Australia, Sep 2015
This is my first group tour. Although at times a bit hectic overall the experience is very good. Inclusion of the free times were very helpful. All the places we visited were well selected and the local guides were well spoken and showed good knowledge of the place/area. However I would have loved to take a bit longer in Toledo and stay in Granada read more one extra day instead of Costa del Sol, for me it was just another touristy place with lots of bars and cheap shops!
A wonderful, eye-popping and amazing adventure with a surprise just about at every twist and turn! Just loved it from Paris to Dijon and especially Chamonix. How gob-smacking to venture out onto the balcony in my room in Chamonix to have Mont-Blanc and the glacier right in my face! Down through the Alps and the awesome views on the Route Napoleon to read more the Cote d'Azur which lived up to its reputation of glitz and glamour. The blue Mediterranean as blue as ever but the most fun was in Monte Carlo and the beauty of Monaco, so elegant. Moving west, it just got better, day by day. Loved the Hotel in Nimes where the staff were hospitality students - top marks to these young people; and onto Carcassonne - oh, my gosh, now that is one absolutely awesome double-walled city! Beautifully preserved, situated on a rise - can you imagine how impregnable that city was in medieval times! One of my very favourite places - beautiful church, 3 tenors singing, enough to bring a tear (or two) to my eye - these days, a peaceful town to stop and admire. A shame to leave it.
Moving on, the 14th century Pont Valentre and area of Cahors just so beautiful. Rocamadours reputation didn't disappoint - how did they build that hanging out of a cliff face! Perigueux and early morning walk through this medieval town before the current residents really stirred was so lovely as were the raspberries from the lady with the market stall - so cheap and delicious! Onto Bordeaux and the TGV - what a hoot! Great way to travel back to Paris to final dinner - so much fun at Les Noces de Jeannette and canard a l'orange - mix in a lovely lady with accordion and French songs, lots of singing, wine and laughter made the 'white-knuckle' ride back through Paris traffic even more hilarious - especially from front seat!
Our driver on tour, Emilio, was just the best - those alpine roads in mist and drizzle not for the feint-hearted but he always made us feel safe - with a smile. Tour Director, Marie-Claire, top marks - her knowledge, attitude, organisation, sense of humour and accent - top notch! What can I say - a brilliant holiday, first time travelling by myself ever, no problem. Food was mostly really yummo, especially first and last nights in Paris with the group - the menu was excellent those nights - never seen so many vineyards - as far as the eye could see in some provinces - and I enjoyed the fruits of their labour too! And what might seem a small thing but one that was always so welcoming in little villages to bigger towns are the big baskets of colourful flowers, reds and bright pinks, hanging on posts, fences, bridges, wherever a basket of flowers could fit - viva la Francaise! (Ed. You sound like a hoot too Fay! Glad you enjoyed your trip)
Good overall view of California 3California ClassicsLiz Marshall, NSW, Australia, Sep 2015
Well paced tour through California. Guide was great, hotels were fine and the tour visits were interesting. Good overall view of California.
Our tour guide and driver were nothing but helpful and courteous - Eileen got up at 5 am when we were leaving for the airport to make sure our taxi driver turned up for us - not part of her duties but very appreciated - our only comment had been that we would have liked to have had a bit more live music however it was explained to us that it would be read more very difficult to get such a bit group into live venues high was understandable - overall a very enjoyable trip with a nice group of people.
We saw everything that we wanted to see, and more 5Italian MosaicDavid B & Robyn B, NSW, Australia, Sep 2015
Wow - what a comprehensive tour around Italy. We saw everything that we wanted to see, and more. The tour was very fast paced - largely because of the vast distance between the north and south. Great tour if you've got limited time and want to see as much of Italy as possible in a short time.
This was an interesting tour to good sites but the emphasis on 'Historic Trains' is misleading as it was conducted as a tour of the Colorado Rockies with rides on 3 historic trains. For railway enthusiasts there was not enough time spent on the trains themselves, particularly on the locomotives and rolling stock. In summary: As a tour of Colorado with read more a visit to Santa Fe it was good, for those wanting a predominantly railway-oriented tour I'd look elsewhere. Two complaints. First, many of the side trips seemed unnecessarily rushed and second, the Wifi on the coach rarely worked, not even in large towns, even though several people asked for it to be fixed.
We thoroughly enjoyed the Imperial Splendours tour. The Tour Director was very knowledgeable, informative, helpful & supplied us with daily humour. My travelling companion has a gluten allergy, the meals supplied were not always very palatable. In some hotels she had to request gluten free bread many times. We were somewhat surprised as one would expect read more Europe to be more efficient in dealing with different meal requests. Overall the experience was awesome, so much history & wonderful scenic cities.
Enjoyed the tour, guide was very helpful and knowledgeable. Had lovely weather most of the tour. We especially enjoyed the Bannockburn Visitors centre, the sheep dog display and the tour of the Britannia.
Relaxing, interesting and adventurous 1Scenic IrelandKerry, WA, Australia, Sep 2015
Fantastic tour. It was my first tour I have been on and found it relaxing, interesting and adventurous. Already thinking about another tour next year. Thank you Global Journeys for organising such a great time!
This was a really good tour but was probably 2 -3 days too long. We were mentally and physically exhausted by the end of the tour, albeit I had spent the whole tour with undiagnosed fractures in my foot! However, the tour guide and driver were fantastic, with the tour guide seemingly knowing everything there is to know about the entire country! Most read more of the hotel accommodation was also good but the poor quality of the hotel in Inverness was a standout. Most of the hotels had no air conditioning or even a small fridge in the room, unlike most Australian and Continental hotels, and some even had very unsafe shower areas with no rubber mats. The actual tour, however, was fantastic - we saw everything we wanted to see and learnt things about all the sites we visited that even I (as a native born Englishman, now Aussie!) never knew. The quality of the food was really good and the optional extra sites was well thought out. In short the entire journey was well run, the coach was always on time and our luggage never lost! We would heartily recommend Global Journeys and Globus to anyone thinking of visiting the UK and Ireland. Georgie Walpole was a standout as a Tour Consultant and her efforts were much appreciated.
Wonderful trip through Spain 4Spanish FiestaLyn & Brian, Australia, Aug 2015
We thoroughly enjoyed this tour, our first trip with Globus. Our driver, Pedro, was great, always driving us to the best spots for the best photo shoots. Kaye, our Tour Director, was so bubbly, friendly, efficient and such a wealth of knowledge. We loved listening to her endless stories. This tour covered a large area of Spain and we enjoyed visiting read more the small family restaurants, sampling the local food and rubbing shoulders with the friendly locals. The only negative for us was that it took a long time for our tours to be "guaranteed departures", hence we missed out on good flight times and prices. We would highly recommend this tour.
Would have a holiday with Globus again 2Introduction to IrelandShane O'Brien, Pamela Robinson & Michael Robinson, QLD, Australia, Aug 2015
The 3 of us had a great time we enjoyed everywhere we went in Ireland amazing country to see so much green was amazing. The hotels and meals were quality all the way. Had lovely weather so we were very lucky. Had a meal and concert in a castle which was one on my bucket list so was delighted. I guess the only down side some of the places we felt a bit read more rushed but you have to expect that when your seeing so much in a short time. Would have a holiday with Globus again.
We can honestly say that we thoroughly enjoyed our Best of Austria & Switzerland tour, enhanced by the excellent weather. Although we covered so much, the 2 day stopovers let us catch our breath. Our hotel accommodation was top class. High praise goes to our tour guide, Pieter Reynolds, who was the complete package - he is a knowledgeable, humorous read more & caring person who made us feel so pleased that we were on tour with him. The local guides that Pieter engaged in Vienna, Salzburg & Lucerne were all excellent & told us so much about their cities. We did all the optional extras except one dinner & enjoyed them all. If we had to pick 3 favourites, they would be the concert in Vienna, going up Little Matterhorn on a perfect clear day & the dinner on a Swiss farm ( we being farmers), quite a variety! We would also like to compliment Leanne Duffield for being so helpful assisting us with booking our tour. We're happy to recommend the whole experience.
Very good tour 1Imperial SplendorsSusan & Russel Morris, ACT, Australia, Aug 2015
Very good tour made even better by our Tour Guide Mario. He was very professional and Globus is on to a winner with him.
This was a very good tour which covered a lot of excellent destinations. It was however very demanding and tiring and potential participants should be aware of this. Globus does rate it as 'on the go' and it certainly is. There is only one 2-night stay in 15 days. The average age of the participants would have been in the 60's and we were all very tired read more at the end but it was worth it. One complaint- with 45 people on board why have a 1-door bus? Loading and unloading seemed to take forever.
Highly recommend this tour 2Britain & Ireland in DepthJudith McHugh & William Saunders, VIC, Australia, Aug 2015
We thoroughly enjoyed the tour and would highly recommend this tour to anyone considering a tour of these countries. Both guide and driver were very experienced and their knowledge of the region was very obvious as they interacted with all passengers throughout the tour.
