We can honestly say that we thoroughly enjoyed our Best of Austria & Switzerland tour, enhanced by the excellent weather. Although we covered so much, the 2 day stopovers let us catch our breath. Our hotel accommodation was top class. High praise goes to our tour guide, Pieter Reynolds, who was the complete package - he is a knowledgeable, humorous read more & caring person who made us feel so pleased that we were on tour with him. The local guides that Pieter engaged in Vienna, Salzburg & Lucerne were all excellent & told us so much about their cities. We did all the optional extras except one dinner & enjoyed them all. If we had to pick 3 favourites, they would be the concert in Vienna, going up Little Matterhorn on a perfect clear day & the dinner on a Swiss farm ( we being farmers), quite a variety! We would also like to compliment Leanne Duffield for being so helpful assisting us with booking our tour. We're happy to recommend the whole experience.
Very good tour made even better by our Tour Guide Mario. He was very professional and Globus is on to a winner with him.
This was a very good tour which covered a lot of excellent destinations. It was however very demanding and tiring and potential participants should be aware of this. Globus does rate it as 'on the go' and it certainly is. There is only one 2-night stay in 15 days. The average age of the participants would have been in the 60's and we were all very tired read more at the end but it was worth it. One complaint- with 45 people on board why have a 1-door bus? Loading and unloading seemed to take forever.
We thoroughly enjoyed the tour and would highly recommend this tour to anyone considering a tour of these countries. Both guide and driver were very experienced and their knowledge of the region was very obvious as they interacted with all passengers throughout the tour.
Our tour guide, John, was very knowledgeable and humorous. He also knew when to leave us in peace. Like any coach tour, timings were regimented and our group was exceptionally prompt. We were very lucky with the weather and were able to get lots of photos with plenty of stops. John was very upfront about the upcoming accommodation, explaining why some read more might be less appealing, so we had no surprises. The itinerary was great having a least a couple of nights at each location and being able to do our own thing for at least part of each day. Would recommend this tour to mobile people of any age.
We had a tremendous trip, made lots of friends and totally recommend this tour. The scenery is stunning. There are lots of strategic stops at tourist spots giving an opportunity to take photos and to soak up the atmosphere. A good lunch break each day enabled some of us to take a short hike, and a couple of free mornings gave everyone a break from read more the bus and an opportunity to do their own exploring.
We had a wonderful journey. Our hotels were beyond amazing! Much better than we expected. The one in Vancouver, Fairmont Waterfront, was just wonderful in its position, and the rest were great as well. The Rocky Mountaineer was an eye opener and just wonderful, and the staff outstanding. Our meals could not be faulted, and we enjoyed the optional excursions read more we did. The only thing we could mention was we would have liked more time at the top when we did the Peak 2 Peak ride at Whistler, in order to explore a bit more. Our tour leader, Tarek, was excellent in going that bit extra to make things better for us, and many times he got us places before all the other coaches arrived. The cruise ship, Volendam, was a great experience and the food and the crew were also wonderful. It was a very comfortable ship and felt warm and welcoming, and not glitzy like some ships, which we liked very much. The crew couldn't do enough for us and were always happy. We have no complaints at all, and were very happy with our tour. Amazing trip, and would go again for sure.
Very good trip with a comfortable coach and a wonderful tour guide. She made you feel like you had known her forever.
We had a great holiday. We felt the optional excursions were a little pricey, especially when weather dependent and could book tours locally if the weather suited.
Comprehensive and well balanced tour 1
Gabrielle & Henry, QLD, Australia, Aug 2015
We enjoyed the 13 Day Discover Japan (Hiroshima Extension) Tour very much. It was most comprehensive and well balanced, including many interesting sights and optional excursion. Much credit has to go to our Tour Director Hiro San, who was most knowledgeable, very professional and helpful at all times. There were unfortunately some problems with the read more Globus Documentation. The pre-paid vouchers, printed in the booklet for transfers and additional hotel accommodation were not accepted. We should have received proper coupons for these and we were inconvenienced and held up on arrival at Tokyo Airport, having, to pay again for tickets for the hotel transfer. Thanks to our Tour Director, this problem was resolved later. (HC. Thanks for letting me know, I'll find out what went wrong with Globus pronto!). Regarding Global Journeys assistance with the tour bookings and the flights, we were very happy with the service provided by Hannah, as we were when she helped us before with previous travel arrangements.

Very well organised and informative. Tour Guide was fun and informative. Accommodation in Plymouth, Glasgow and Inverness we felt below standard (poor plumbing facilities). The tour enabled us to view major and smaller places of interest. Excellent guide that also allowed our own time to see points at our own pace at certain places along our tour. Enjoyed read more the Active pace of the tour.
Absolutely fabulous tour. Loved every minute of it. Scotland is beautiful and steeped in so much history. Fantastic tour guide Pieter. He was so full of knowledge.
Tour which we will never forget 2
Leo & Ratna, QLD, Australia, Aug 2015
We took the Central Europe (by Cosmos) and Europe in Depth (by Globus) in July and August 2015. The tours went off perfectly without hassle. The two tour directors, Mladen from Cosmos and Benjamin from Globus made our tours very special in ensuring that everything was taken care of. We would like to thank Yvonne Brooks and the team at Global Journeys read more for organising the tours which we will never forget. (Ed: Review based on a similar but longer itinerary. Trip name and itinerary updated this season)
We were blessed with a good interactive group and an outstanding Tour Director in Jackie Nelson. Just the right amount of information when traveling and her organizational skills were superb. She made it look so easy. Hotels and locations were beyond expectation and excursions were well thought out. Being a native of LA, Jackie went the extra mile there read more and in San Francisco, adding a lot to our overall experience.
I was exceptionally happy with the whole package. Definitely value for money and very professional, nothing was missed. The Tour Guide and driver were brilliant. I personally would have liked a longer tour to alleviate the one-night stops.
This was my first group tour and I was pleasantly surprised. The tour was well organised, the tour director (Darcy) was exceptional and the pace of the tour was not too rushed. Having two nights in most locations allowed for more free time to do my own thing. The service provided by Yvonne at Global Journeys was also exceptional. Great tour.
Excellent tour and would recommend 4
Sue, ACT, Australia, Jul 2015
Enjoyed the experience. The Tour Director was very good, excellent knowledge and was well prepared. Everything went smoothly which is testament to the great work of the Tour Director. A lot of behind the scenes work which was very appreciated. While the way you are to move on the bus each day is clearly written and explained by the Tour Director read more it is amazing that people still don't follow the protocol and it is unfortunate that a few people only think of themselves and do not take into consideration others feelings or wants. Perhaps a daily seating plan would be good, at least for the first week. Excellent tour and would recommend to my friends and colleagues. Thank you Michelle for all your assistance leading up to the tour.
The hotels in Paris were a very long way from the centre and in fact were barely in Paris itself. Having travelled with Globus before this seems nearly always to be the case and I can understand the difficulties of accommodating large groups. It would have been helpful if local maps of Paris were provided as the areas in which the hotels were situated read more were well outside the official maps of Paris handed out at hotels. On the day we chose not to take the afternoon tour to Versailles we were left to find our own way back to the hotel having been given the name of the Metro station but no directions from there to the hotel. I know that many carry devices which give maps and directions but this should not be assumed. Having visited Paris numerous times I could navigate the transport system easily but for first time visitors this would have been daunting. This is my only 'gripe' as everything else was well managed and enjoyable. I would also suggest that Bayeux be included as an opportunity to see the tapestry should have been available. Perhaps this could have replaced the stop at La Mere Eglise, which has little to offer apart from its significance to the D-Day operations which were amply covered elsewhere.
I have been impressed with the service I received from Global Journeys. In particular I would like to thank Yvonne for your professionalism and attention to detail as everything was managed efficiently and promptly.
Thank you Global Journeys. The whole experience of booking with yourselves was simple and efficient. We thoroughly enjoyed our tour. Our Tour Guide, Paul Barton, and our coach driver, Joe, were both exceptional. Paul's knowledge of the UK and its history is astounding. Joe's driving ability was exceptional. Both Paul and Joe went out of their way to read more make our trip wonderful, keeping us all entertained and informed as well as 'going the extra mile'. Also we had a medical emergency early in the trip with one of the other passengers and this was dealt with professionally and with little disruption to any others. The accommodation was very good, no complaints and the optional tours were all good. The only suggestion we would make is that on a long trip such as this it would be good to have a couple of days to catch your breath and recharge the batteries. Thank you.
