Journey further through Pennsylvania to Williamsport, a former leader in the lumber industry located at the foothills of the Allegheny Mountains and on the Susquehanna River. Today the lumber barons are long gone but their Victorian mansions still stand, and the town has traded lumber for America's favorite pastime, baseball. (B)
TOUR HIGHLIGHT - FREEDOM ROAD: Williamsport was an important point in the Underground Railroad. In 1867, Frederick Douglass spoke to a crowd at The Doebler House, a hotel that possibly worked with the Underground Railroad, housing people as they moved north. The Freedom Road area offered caves in wooded areas, barns, secret hiding places, and the friends and family of Daniel Hughes discreetly provided shelter, food, and assistance to people traveling north to freedom.

Travel through the rolling Appalachian Mountains and enter New York State. Visit the Corning Museum of Glass, the world's most extensive collection of glass and top glassblowing school. TOUR HIGHLIGHT - REVOLUTIONARY IDEAS: The historic city of Boston is dressed in full regalia to celebrate the 250th Anniversary of the American Revolution. This commemoration of the history-changing Siege of Boston (1775-1776) which began with the first shots at Lexington and Concord, and colonial army laying siege on Boston for 11 months as the British forces fought to maintain control of the town and its harbor. This siege was the first chapter in an eight-year war for American Independence and the hard-won freedom enjoyed today.
