A fantastic experience! 1 Eastern US & Canada Grand Vacation , Australia, Aug 2012
It was our first Cosmos tour, we had a fantastic experience! The sights were amazing, and we learnt so much about the cities, culture & history through the tour director. Pace was good and the hotels were comfortable, better than I had expected. Thank you Frances, for all your help and prompt responses to all our enquiries. We will be booking with you guys again!
Tour was good value 1 Grand Tour of France , Australia, Aug 2012
The meeting hotel in Paris needs to be changed. Forest Hill gives a very bad impression of what the tour is going to be like. I think the 14 day description is not quite true. It is really a 12 day tour (Ed. This is common in most itineraries - the first and last days are often arrival and departure days - required for us Aussies flying over). Also read more because some of the hotels are so far out of town you cannot actually go and see that city. Toulouse and Lyon in particular. Some of the time left at leisure in some cities or towns are too long especially in the heat and one in particular when we went to Rocamondeur we were all just wanting to get to the hotel to relax. We didn't get there till almost 7.30 and it was a lovely hotel. The Radisson was prob the best on the tour but we were expected to go to dinner without even freshening up after being left for hours in 42 degree heat. Most people on the tour were upset. It was too far out to see the city and we didn't do a walking tour here. A lot of the hotels were very average. However it was a lower cost tour so we expected accommodation to be of a lower standard but we did expect better locations closer to the city centres. The tour guide and driver were very professional, helpful and knowledgeable. Most of the included meals were terrible. It would be much better to add $100 and have decent meals. The Radisson in Toulouse had nice dinner and breakfast.
Exceptional value for what we paid 1 The Canadian Rockies , Australia, Aug 2012
The tour took us through the most beautiful parts of the Rockies. The amount of things you see in the space of time of the tour is amazing. Our tour director John went out of his way to make sure we got to see some places that we otherwise would have missed on other tours. The amount of time spent at each overnight stop was adequate. The optional excursions read more offered some good variety to the tour experience. Some of the hotels we stayed at seemed exceptional value for what we paid. I enjoyed the pace of the tour, I had an amazing time and would recommend it to anyone thinking of touring the Rockies and Western Canada.
Loved every moment of the tour 1 , Australia, Aug 2012
We both had a great time. Loved every moment of the tour. Our guide Daniel was full of knowledge and also very helpful. We were only on a small group so we had plenty of room on the coach and we had heaps of fun. We still keep in touch with our new found family. Was a great tour, saw heaps, our rooms were all good and the excursions were all very good read more value. Yvonne from Global Journeys looked after us before we departed - all good no complaints at all...well one maybe, it all ended.
Inside passage cruise was FANTASTIC 1 Canadian Masterpiece with Rocky Mountaineer & Alaska Cruise , Australia, Aug 2012
We were looked after so well all the way and had the most scenic and enjoyable tour. Long days packed with so much. A couple of more days added to the tour would have been great. The accommodation was clean and comfortable in every place that we stayed. The Rocky Mountaineer train trip was fantastic with great food, great commentary and the beauty of read more the train is that you can get up and walk around. As for the inside passage cruise on Holland Americas Volendam we just cannot stop talking about it. It was FANTASTIC with all of the ships staff bending over backwards to make sure that we were having the best time of our lives. The scenery on this cruise is outstanding. At Glacier Bay the Captain kept the ship in the bay for an hour rotating it all of that time so that passengers got panoramic 360degree views of the glaciers while eating lunch on the 8th floor of the ship in the dining room. He was a great Captain steering such a large ship through the inside passage so skillfully. We are now hooked on cruising and would not hesitate to book another Holland America cruise. All told a memorable and fantastic holiday, which we would highly recommend.
Our driver and tour director were outstanding 1 , Australia, Aug 2012
We had 27 on our tour bus which was excellent as we all got to know each other and all got on well. The location of our hotels was dreadful as they were too far away from the places we visited. Some of the hotels were not air conditioned and others were very noisy and only had one lift which was unacceptable. Bathrooms and ceilings leaked in some rooms read more and some only had 1 computer in the lobby for internet access. The lack of laundry facilities in most places was disappointing. Our driver and tour director were outstanding and assisted greatly in making the trip so enjoyable. The coach was spacious and very comfortable.
Edinburgh tattoo was a great inclusion on the tour 1 The British Isles in Depth , Australia, Aug 2012
Wonderful tour great tour guide couldn't wish for more, even the weather was good. Recommend to anyone wishing to have tour of British Isles and Ireland. Edinburgh tattoo was a great inclusion on the tour.
We had a wonderful time 1 Western Canada by Rail , Australia, Aug 2012
We had a wonderful time - the tour was very busy but relaxed as well. We had a lot of free time which was more relaxing. We have been with other tour companies but Cosmos has been the best. Having to do your own meals means having more choice and not having to rush down to breakfast or hang around the hotel at night waiting for the dinner time allocated. read more You are free to do what you want. I found it much more relaxing to have breakfast in your room instead of fighting the hoards at the breakfast buffets. We would definitely do another tour with Cosmos.
Better than we expected 1 Eastern US & Canada Grand Vacation , Australia, Aug 2012
Tour was better than we expected. Good pace not to fast, just a nice moderate tour. Was able to see quite a number of attractions in the main cities we visited. Would consider another tour with Global Journeys & Cosmos.
Our first coach tour and we are looking forward to the next 1 Golden West Adventure , Australia, Aug 2012
This was the first coach tour for my husband and I and we are looking forward to the next. Our tour guide, Jackie was extremely helpful and her commentary and advice on local attractions was very accurate and informative. Little extras that she provided, like maps, public transport timetables and dining suggestions ensured that we could navigate our read more way around and enjoy the unique attractions in most cities. We managed to avoid the long summer holiday queues at all tourist attractions because the bus tour company was able to pre-book tours on our behalf before we arrived at the venue and this meant that we always avoided the queues. Our tour consisted of young, middle aged and retired couples and families who all mixed well, which made for an enjoyable experience. There was also a good mix between free time and planned activities during the day.
Tour pace was a bit busier than I expected 1 Gourmet Rome, Sorrento & Capri , Australia, Jul 2012
Tour pace was a bit busier than I expected, but to be fair, many of the activities were optional. But it was a busy pace for 'leisurely'. Very enjoyable, accommodation very good. Meals were generally far bigger portion sizes than anyone could eat - seemed a bit wasteful sometimes because of that. Share option worked well for me. Rooms were plenty big enough.
There was nothing we were unhappy with 1 The Canadian Rockies with Alaska Cruise , Australia, Jul 2012
We had a fantastic tour through the Canadian Rockies with the most competent and pleasant tour director anyone could wish for. Vedrana went out of her way to ensure all tour members had the best trip with nothing left to chance, she was always on hand and very generous with her time. Our driver Derrick was an exceptional coach driver and also very pleasant read more and courteous. Our Alaskan cruise was just as good and there was nothing we were unhappy with, we enjoyed both immensely. Thank you Georgie for your help arranging this great trip.
Tipping expectations are totally outrageous 4 Heart of the Canadian Rockies , Australia, Jul 2012
I did the tour for the ease of having transport and accommodation taken care of so it met that benchmark. Didn't really like being in the group so much but fortunately it was only a 10-day tour and there were only five days when we were on the bus. Tipping expectations are totally outrageous - we were advised to tip both the guide and driver $7 per read more day (ie. a total of $70 each, which needless to say, most people ignored) when we didn't even see them on half the days.
Saw lots that we never knew existed 1 Grand Tour of France , Australia, Jul 2012
It was a great tour, and everyone got along really well, we have all been in touch with everyone since we have come back home. The only complaint I would have is they are very long days. But we had a great time and saw lots that we never knew existed.
Some of the hotels not suitable and should no longer be used 1 Grand Tour of France , Australia, Jul 2012
Although I have given an overall rating of average, this is due to the fact that some of the hotels are not suitable and should no longer be used, and some of the meals were awful (one inedible) or insufficient. eg breakfasts. During the hottest part of the tour at Mont St Michel, our accommodation in Motel Vert had no air-conditioning and the allocated read more rooms were all on the very hot sunny side with curtains wide open all day prior to our arrival which resulted in the tour group being deposited into 'furnace' like conditions. As the temperature did not drop through the night, conditions were hot and uncomfortable. IBIS at Avignon was two star with rooms too small and uncomfortable. Most of the breakfasts were minimal and barely constituted even a continental breakfast.
Coach driver and France itself more than made up for deficiencies 1 Grand Tour of France , Australia, Jul 2012
The tour of France with regard to the distance, area, scenery and stopovers and also the coach drivers and the guide was very good. Most of the included meals were not too good with at least one being woeful. A couple of the hotels seemed as if they were two star and at Mont St Michel, the hottest location there was no air-conditioning and the rooms read more were on the sunny side with curtains open. It was like entering a sauna but even knowing these disadvantages, I would still do this tour again because the guide, the driver and France itself more than made up for these deficiencies.
Fantastic tour 1 Seven Countries, Venice & Paris , Australia, Jul 2012
Fantastic tour. All parties involved were very helpful. Would definitely do another one!
Everything was organised perfectly 1 , Australia, Jul 2012
The All About Europe tour (previously named European Masterpiece) was fantastic! Frances was very helpful booking everything for us. She was very patient with us when our original tour was cancelled & she quickly put us on this tour. We sent a lot of emails but she was always happy to help! The 30 days went quickly. We wish it lasted longer. We spent read more two nights each in the major cities which was plenty of time to see everything, especially if you did the optional tours (with the local guides). We recommend all the optional tours - great value for money and you don't have to wait in lines. Our tour director Davor was fantastic! He was fun, he knew his history and just very knowledgeable in general. He had lots of patience and was very very organised, and our drivers Giovanni & Ernesto kept us safe with their great driving skills. We would never have done a tour this long on our own. Everything was organised perfectly and we highly recommend it. (Ed. Itinerary amended slightly and name changed from European Masterpiece to All About Europe in 2019)
Tour guide had incredible knowledge 1 The Canadian Rockies , Australia, Jul 2012
Tour was great. The weather also was great for most days. What made this tour stand out for me was the tour guide's incredible knowledge of everything flora and fauna of the terrain covered. Also her personal experiences having lived in the region made the tour both very educational and interesting.
I really enjoyed the Grand tour of Switzerland 2 Grand Tour of Switzerland , Australia, Jul 2012
We truly received a flavour of different parts of the beautiful and so multicultural country! The organisation was very good and our tour guide- Fiorenza Jable was always warm, supportive, cheery and also highly professional! Only couple of things I would like to mention as suggestions. 1.Our coach had been broken into in the central part of Bern during read more our free time. Then all actions were done properly: i.e. police report, calls for closing down the stolen credit cards etc. However, when I logged a claim with my Insurance Company (Cover-More), I was not refunded for my stolen laptop and other things as they said that I left my stuff on the unattended coach. I guess, some better strategies for the coach supervision should be considered. 2. We did not have time to visit art museums, e.g. Fiorenza suggested it was a lovely art collection of Impressionists in Lucerne's museum. But there was no time allocated for visiting; neither was there flexibility in the schedule which would allow interested people to do so. I, for example, plan to visit Germany, on that tour though I am very determined to spend a couple of hours in Dresden's Art Gallery. I am not sure that would be possible within the Cosmos Grand Tour of Germany. In this case I would have to make an additional visit to Dresden to see some would masterpieces, which is rather unpractical. Thank you very much for you interest and consideration.
