Alaskan Adventure by Sea

Today, wave goodbye to your Tour Director and Driver in Vancouver before embarking on your 7-night Alaska Inside Passage cruise. (B/D)

TOUR HIGHLIGHT - NATURAL WONDERS: You're in for one wild and wonderful week on a roundtrip cruise on the incredible Inside Passage through the spectacular ports of Alaska. Cruise from Vancouver to discover spellbinding scenery from narrow fjords to scattered islets and towering peaks. Get close to massive glaciers in Glacier Bay National Park and wait breathlessly for ice to calve off and plunge into the ocean. Inside Passage waters are as smooth as it gets, while on shore you'll find endless thrills and chills.

Glacial Fjords & Grand Forests

Alaska's Inside Passage is a protected network of waterways that wind through glacier-cut fjords and lush temperate rain forests along the rugged coast of Southeast Alaska. Arguably one of the greatest cruising routes in the world, the Inside Passage stretches through stunning landscapes, from Misty Fjords National Monument to famed Glacier Bay National Park & Preserve. (B/L/D)

TOUR HIGHLIGHT - WILD BY NATURE: Sailing the Inside Passage offers opportunities to spot some of Alaska's most iconic wildlife, with humpback whales and orcas plying the bountiful waters alongside the ships, bald eagles soaring overhead and brown bears lumbering on the shoreline.

Coastal Cliffs & The Catch of the Day

Steep cliffs and glacier-covered mountains flank the Tracy Arm fjord, fringed by the largest intact coastal temperate rain forest in the United States. Old-growth trees colonized Tracy Arm's mouth long ago as the Ice Age retreated. Continue cruising to Juneau, Alaska and visit the most remote state capital in the United States. Surrounded by water, forest and mountain sights, visitors in Juneau can hike a glacier, eat fresh-caught fish on a seaside patio and tour a grand capitol building all in one day. (B/L/D)

TOUR HIGHLIGHT - UNTAMED WILDERNESS: Even more glorious than nearby Glacier Bay, Tracy Arm is part of the 5.7 million acres (or around 23,000 square kilometers) of pure wilderness sheltered by the Tongass National Forest (America's biggest). Visitors often see bears, whales, and mountain goats roaming across various corners of this pristine area—not to mention chubby baby seals resting on the ice floes. Summer temperatures average 35 to 60 degrees Fahrenheit (0 to 16 degrees Celsius), so pack warm clothing. And pack your waterproof gear in preparation for the more than 60 inches (1 ½ meters) of rainfall each year!

The Rush for Gold

At the height of the Klondike Gold Rush, the port town of Skagway served as the primary gateway to the legendary gold fields, and quickly grew into Alaska's largest settlement. It was then a raucous frontier hub packed with trading posts, saloons, and guesthouses. As the gold rush faded into the 1900s, so did Skagway—but today it has been reinvigorated as a gateway for a new kind of visitor: those looking to explore Alaska's colorful history, pristine wildlife, and unrivaled natural beauty. (B/L/D)

TOUR HIGHLIGHT - LEGENDS & LORE: At every turn, you'll find yourself immersed in gold rush lore in the town of Skagway, from the infamous Red Onion Saloon that still keeps a pistol that Wyatt Earp left behind on his way to the Klondike, to the narrow-gauge White Pass & Yukon Route Railroad, traversing rugged mountains, waterfalls, and towering glaciers on its course to Whitehorse deep in the Yukon.

Ice Dancing

On your cruise to Glacier Bay (a UNESCO World Heritage Site), close your eyes and take in the sounds—the creaks and groans of “living” ice, the shrill cries of gulls and soaring eagles, the splash of a breaching humpback whale. Frosted peaks towering over mossy forests, wide tidewater glaciers (there are seven in the park), and frequent wildlife sightings on Glacier Bay cruises are just a few of the thrilling experiences in this unique and beautiful biosphere. (B/L/D)

TOUR HIGHLIGHT - WILD DISCOVERIES: With the serene majesty of snow-flecked and forested mountains defining its shores, Glacier Bay National Park offers some of the most dramatic scenery in the world. Keep your binoculars and camera handy as you cruise Glacier Bay to the mile-wide Margerie Glacier for the chance to witness ice calving. Wildlife abounds in Glacier Bay, and you never know when you will see the fluke of a humpback rise out of the water or spot a lone brown bear patrolling a windswept beach.

Port of Call

Experience an adventure in Ketchikan, Alaska home to picturesque fjords of the Inside Passage, where the town clings to the banks of the Tongass Narrows, flanked by green forests nurtured by abundant rain. Consider an optional guided rainforest walk in the Tongass National Forest and a visit to the Southeast Alaska Discovery Center to explore the rich Alaska Native culture and coastal rainforest ecosystem during your time in Ketchikan. (B/L/D)

TOUR HIGHLIGHT - HISTORY & TRADITION: Ketchikan has long been an important hub of the salmon-fishing and salmon-packing industries. Savor the fresh seafood at one of the local restaurants or take a fishing excursion to catch your own! Ketchikan is one of the best spots along the Inside Passage to explore the rich culture of Native Alaskan nations like the Tlingit, Haida and Tsimshian. See intricately carved totem poles at the Totem Heritage Center and Totem Bight State Park and visit the Saxman Village just outside of Ketchikan to see Tlingit heritage in action, with working carvers and a dance show in the clan house.

Where the Wild Things Are

Scenic cruising through the Inside Passage again offering opportunities to spot some of Alaska's most iconic wildlife. Enjoy the amenities and entertainment onboard the ship, recharge with a spa service or savor the last full day of sailing from the observation deck. (B/L/D)

TOUR HIGHLIGHT - ALASKAN ADVENTURE: Relish the last day of leisure on the ship and watch the horizon for humpback whales and orcas plying the bountiful waters, bald eagles soaring overhead and brown bears lumbering on the shoreline. One of the greatest cruising routes in the world, the Inside Passage stretches through stunning landscapes, from Misty Fjords National Monument to famed Glacier Bay National Park & Preserve.

Western Canada Alaska 2 , WA, Australia, Sep 2022
We enjoyed our tour and cruise. Our Tour Director Alba was amazing. Her knowledge was incredible. Half the hotels were very good and some were below expectations. A hiccup in Jasper with no power and hot water at our hotel and although Alba and Globus tried to find us other accommodation there was none. An uncomfortable 2 days. We enjoyed the itinerary read more on both the Tour and Cruise, the scenery was amazing.
Excellent tour of the Canadian Rockies with Globus 3 , VIC, Australia, Jul 2019
Everything on this tour either met or exceeded expectations. The tour guide had the balance right between talking too much and keeping us interested with his commentary. He did a great job and made it look effortless. The scenery was magnificent and with no forest fires during July, and kind weather, we were able to do and see everything that was on read more the itinerary. Too many magnificent lakes and mountains to single one out - all of the scenery was grand. I chose to do most of the additional tours and am pleased that I did as they were all worthwhile and complemented the tour. Really easy to get along with group of people comprising several nationalities and a wide age group. One of the best tours I have done.
20 day Canada and Alaska   2 , NSW, Australia, Jun 2019
Had an absolutely fantastic time, every facet from booking through Global (thanks Madeline and Tracey) to the day we landed back home was filled with memorable moments including bears, whales, deer, elk, eagles, otters and many other wildlife sightings. The scenery was breathtaking at times and left you in awe of mother nature in all her glory. Hotels read more were fantastic, meals regular and of a high standard, out tour director Caterina was an absolute joy and so organised it left us with no thinking to do at all, just sit back and enjoy the trip.

Driver Mike was on time, professional, courteous and just the guy you would want behind the wheel on the open roads of Canada. Pace of the road tour was great with just enough two day stops to allow you to unwind, the cruise was also fine but just did not quite live up to the road portion of the trip with a half day to start and finish (boarding and disembarking), and two days all cruising it left 4 days for adventures.
Really Grand Western Canada and Alaska Cruise   2 , QLD, Australia, Jun 2019
We both think our 13 Day Globus Tour was a very good choice and were delighted we took the Holland America cruise extension. Global Journeys helped make sure we had all the details sorted out well in advance and everything went to plan. The Globus tour director and coach driver both did an excellent job of keeping everything running smoothly. They anticipated read more almost everything we might need, were entertaining, and were kind and courteous guides to some spectacular parts of British Columbia and Alberta.

With several bear sightings at Whistler, Jasper and elsewhere not to mention all the other wildlife, marine life and exquisite scenery there were numerous memorable moments. The absolute highlight of the Alaska cruise has to be Glacier Bay National Park (yet it gets only a brief line in the Globus brochure). We greatly enjoyed the formal dinners each evening and the very leisurely cruise through the (tranquil) Inside Passage.
Spectacular Grand Western Canada Vacation and Alaska Cruise 2 , VIC, Australia, Jun 2019
We thoroughly recommend this tour with Globus. It was very well organised, we never felt rushed, were entertained by our guide on the longer drives and had freedom to buy our own lunches which we preferred. I chose this particular itinerary as I wanted to spend time at the Butchard gardens in Victoria. We had plenty of time at the gardens followed by read more a wonderful buffet meal served in their Blue Poppy restaurant on site.

We toured in June and had amazing weather the whole trip. In Whistler it was 30 deg. Celsius with blue skies and we spent all afternoon travelling on gondolas from peak to peak and back again amazed to see people skiing on the snow and yet we were wearing t-shirts and not cold. Our Globus tour guide, Doug Miller and our coach driver Keith did a superb job and I would certainly do a Globus Tour again in the future.
Wonderful holiday 2 , QLD, Australia, May 2019
Thanks Global Journeys for your help with this wonderful holiday with Globus. We thought this was the best time to travel as there was lots of snow around still and it wasn't too hot.The hotels we stayed at were wonderful as was our tour guide. The extras that we took were very good and you won't go wrong with this tour.
20 Day Grand Western Canada Vacation & Alaska Cruise   3 , NSW, Australia, Jul 2018
This was an exceptional holiday, broken into two parts. First we toured through the Grandeur of the Canadian Rockies, spectacular and beautiful could barely describe it. Canada opened it's soul to us and we delighted in her form. Our guide was a witty and intelligent gentleman whose enthusiasm for his country and its history he graciously imparted on read more to each of us. We had an extraordinary group who melded harmoniously, forming some lifelong friendships from our twelve days together. The hotels were first rate, our coach and driver guided us through the Canadian countryside and cities with expert ease. The chosen restaurants for group evening dinners were top quality and the food was exceptional. Our Hotel check-in process was streamlined so well it all went off without a glitch. Full marks to Globus and the organization working in the background.

For those of us traveling on to the Cruise liner, the transfer process was well managed. This being the next part of our adventure, we were not to be disappointed. The ship was fantastic, the service was always excellent, the selection of food was first rate, the rooms were very comfortable. Everyone on the ship was very friendly, helpful and polite. The decor was just exceptional, being a smaller vessel we never felt overcrowded with about 1200 to 1400 on board.

The Cruise was something special to behold, we were subject to some of the most beautiful scenery and waterways that took our breath away. Along the way, we were always allowed sufficient time to explore some of the quaint towns and embark on extra activities to suit all tastes. The evening entertainment was varied, hilarious with added intimacy to embrace all comers.

Overall it was a fantastic twenty-day tour that left wanting to stay a bit longer.

This was a holiday of a lifetime and far exceeded our expectations. Our travel consultant Yvonne Brooks was brilliant from start to finish nothing was ever a problem for her. Our tour guide in Canada Doug Miller went above and beyond the call of duty as did the driver Roger. Accommodation was exceptional, everything was well organised and would definitely read more recommend Globus to anyone who will listen.
