This was a fabulous tour. Our Tour Director, Ken Thompson, was professional, approachable, and informative. He communicated well and had a meticulous eye for detail. The Coach Driver, Taurus, was skilled and caring, giving special attention to passengers getting on and off the coach. The hotels were excellent, especially Gaylords Opryland at Nashville, read more the Guesthouse at Graceland, Memphis and the Sheraton Hotel in New Orleans. They were all high class hotels and well located.
The included activities fitted admirably with the purpose of the tour with the highlights being the honky tonks along Broadway in Nashville, the Grand Old Opry the mansion and the Elvis Experience at Graceland and the food and music in the French Quarter of New Orleans. Alll the included meals were very good and gave us the chance to sample the cuisine of the local areas.
This was one of the best tours we have done (and we have done lots). We particularly enjoyed it because it brought to life our love for the music that was born and still flourishes in this part of the world.
We loved our recent trip both by coach and cruise ship. It was fascinating to visit the three beautiful cities of Boston, Montreal and Quebec. The first part on the coach was fast paced, well organised and very well hosted. Our fellow travellers were mainly Americans which was both interesting and delightful to meet such an enthusiastic bunch. The cruise, read more as always with Holland America was perfect, great staff, activities and excursions. Smooth waters for the most part too. I would recommend this trip to see a part of the US and Canada not always visited from Australia, especially for lovers of history.
I took the Rome/Venice Globus Independent tour this September. They take care of all the transfers to and from hotels etc. There is a short guided tour of the city and the rest of the time you are on your own (which suited me as I had been to Rome & Venice before) otherwise you choose an additional optional tour. Happy with the hotel choice, and everything read more ran well. The local tour guides were knowledgeable and entertaining.
Overall everything was very good although we spent too much time at Mount Rushmore and I would like to have gone to Custer Park which was not far away. However, I realise you can't please all the people all the time.
The biggest issue to me was the very poor food at breakfast at all hotels. There was no choice of eggs which were always scrambled and read more actually tasted like cardboard. All I could eat was the real fruit as there was not much else.
Our 15 day East Africa trip with Globus proved to be a dream come true. To see animals in Africa on a TV documentary is interesting, but to see them in the wild in front of you was a surreal and heart-beating experience which will be kept in my memory forever.
Globus is a very reliable tour company and every step of the tour goes with the itinerary read more they advertised. The accommodations were all 5 star and they were fantastic. The local tour guides generally are good but because 17 tourists were separated into 4 groups and sitting in 4 4-wheel drive tour buses, the guide was not always staying with your group. The more time you spent actually was with our fellow travellers.
The local guide Robert in Tanzania was fantastic. He has obtained two degrees in medicine and law in England. He practices as an ER doctor and comes to work as a tourist guide once a month in high tour seasons. He transformed our tour beyond the leisure holiday to be like an interesting lecture about the local history and archaeology. In the future, I would still like to travel with Globus.
We have just returned from a fantastic trip to the US South learning about our love for music. Music. Music. Music. Recording studios, cafes, joints, country, blues, jazz, hangouts, local. We had it all. The history was outstandingly conveyed to us in a great variety of forums. It was our 5th trip with Globus so it's very obvious we enjoy their "company". read more We started in mid September. CJ and Willie were an expert management team who worked together extremely well, even in a time of need with a 'sad bus'! Experiencing food from the local areas was another fact that we really enjoyed and receiving advice on this was greatly appreciated. Accommodation was up to the usual standard - very very good. We are from New Zealand and are always in the small minority in the touring group but there were a mix of Canadians, Australians and US people who accommodated each other very well. Having a common thread of music was definitely a plus. Thank you.
Excellent historical and scenic tour out of Washington DC 1America's Historic EastDavid & Helen , QLD, Australia, Sep 2018
We thoroughly enjoyed this 9 day Globus tour which covered Washington DC and beautiful Virginia, West Virginia and Pennsylvania, focusing on the history of the American Revolution and the Civil War. Everything about the way Globus ran the tour was spot on: an excellent Tour Director who knew the locations and history extremely well; a very modern, comfortable read more coach with on-board wifi; an excellent coach driver; excellent hotel accommodation; good breakfasts and a number of good included dinners.
Our tour group of 30 was friendly and cooperative, with good interaction between the American majority and and the Aussie and Kiwi minority. A highlight for us was a visit to Williamsburg (and a private visit we had there to William & Mary College following up on some family history research). The tour was quite fast paced and we covered a lot of ground in 9 days, but it was not overly demanding. We have no complaints or criticisms of the tour or Globus at all. Highly recommended.
I recently returned from a Globus UK & Ireland trip. There were 44 on the tour mostly Americans, 6 Canadians, 2 New Zealanders & 4 from Australia. The coach was very nice & roomy & we had seat rotation every day. Our Tour Director was excellent as well as our driver. Some of those narrow roads, I just closed my eyes & was thankful I wasn't driving. read more Our accommodation was very good. They all used doonas, which I find too hot & also all hotels only provided one luggage rack. The included meals were nice apart from the hotels in Warwick & York. The optional tours were excellent - definitely recommend The Royal Yacht Britannia, Taylor's Irish night & the Medieval Banquet at Knappogue Castle. We only had one day of drizzle but most days were coolish. I would definitely travel on another Globus tour, value for money, excellent inclusions. This is my third trip I have booked through Global Journeys, Georgie & Hannah did a great job.
The Scandinavian (Iceland Extension) 2Lesley, David & Lyn, VIC, Australia, Sep 2018
The Scandinavian part of the holiday was good and we saw a real lot of things across Denmark, Sweden and Norway. We loved Norway the best as it covered more mountains and nature where Denmark and Sweden was more cities and big towns. Many of the people didn't mix in together and our tour guide just did her job without feeling a bit robotic. This didn't read more stop us having fun and we did enjoy everyday along the way. The Iceland part of the holiday was fantastic, the other travellers mixed in together and our tour guide went out of her way to show us extra things along the way. Overall we loved this holiday and would love to go back and visit each place again in the future.
Our experience with Globus on this tour in September 2018 was positive. It was our first organised tour and we found the travel itinerary and documents very useful. Our tour director John was diligent and catered to everyone's needs which made for a happy group. When our driver had to leave us for personal reasons John acted with great empathy and professionalism. read more We enjoyed the mix of organised activities and free time and appreciated the helpful information given to us before arrival at each destination. We are travelling with Globus again in 2019.
A great trip. It was really good to have two night stays. Our tour director was a living, walking history book with a great sense of humour, and a great deal of sensitivity to customer needs. 14 days gave a very good taste of the Highlands, enough to plan a future trip of more depth. The coach was very comfortable and the driving unbelievably good. read more Some areas were really tight, but our driver had them under control. Add on excursions were excellent. I would do another tour with Cosmos without hesitation.
As it was our first BIG overseas holiday we were a little anxious as to how things would go, but it all went so well. From the beginning our online connection with Global Journeys was always "open" and friendly to reassure us that everything was in order! When we arrived at our first destination our Tour Director made everyone feel very welcome and read more also during the tour he was always available to help us sort through any queries, of which there sometimes were a good few! We were given the opportunity to sightsee some amazing places and have met many new friends. Definitely recommend Globus and their staff for an amazing holiday.
Great trip visiting the popular Italian sites 2Liz & Gary, NSW, Australia, Sep 2018
Revisited many places we visited 40 and 14 years before. Enjoyed Rome though the crowds were pretty intense, loved revisiting San Gimignano and visiting our fave gelato shop. Florence was wonderful and enjoyed the walking tour and quick entry to see David again. Really enjoyed Venice and boat trip along the canal, walked many kms through narrow streets. read more Enjoyed the Leonardo da Vinci exhibition in the gallery in Milan. Overall a very enjoyable trip.
We have kept away from coach tours for many years and this was just an add on following another expedition that finished in Canada. This Globus tour was very good value for money and that is all travelers want. The tour director was outstanding and all the local guides were very good. The included dinners and optional dinner were excellent and appreciated. read more Tour content was very good with Niagra Falls wonderful. Pace was fast as is to be expected on this type of tour there is no way to avoid it. Hotels were good; most were without views and the room at the Lord Elgin was a broom cupboard although you would not fit in more than one broom.
I chose this tour as the dates worked around my availability and as a solo traveller it is sometimes just easier to do a tour. It ticked all the boxes for the major sites in this region for me and gave me a good overview of the area. The group was fairly large with 41 participants (I am used to tours of 16) but the tour guide and driver were both personable read more and very good at managing the large group and multiple personalities. The group probably took a while to come together as the first group dinner wasn't until day 3 if you took the optional, or day 4 for an included dinner.
There were a couple of really long driving days with not much going on, but I guess you just have to cope with that, as each and every destination was great once you reached it. I took all of the optional excursions and most were worth it with the exception of the cruise in Quebec City. Hotels were all very centrally located and allowed you to explore on your own for longer when you had free time and walk back to the hotel with ease.
I am pleased that I booked the tour with Yvonne from Global Journeys as she made the whole process so easy and ensured that I had all documents that I needed throughout (not everyone on the tour was so lucky). I would definitely book with Yvonne again.
The very fast paced coach tour throughout the National Parks of America was an interesting tour. All of the National Parks we entered were in deed wonderful but there really wasn't much time to do any long walks and we often found that we were hurrying back to the coach to continue the journey. The hotel accommodation was excellent and all of the read more rooms were spacious and comfortable. Although we were aware of the travel distances I don't think we were ready for the very early morning departures throughout the tour and the days of sitting on a coach getting from one place to the next destination at the end of the day. There were a lot of meal inclusions in this tour, which was nice and only one optional extra tour which was the helicopter ride over the Grand Canyon. This is a must do extra for any traveller.
Booking through Global Journeys was indeed very easy and Georgie Walpole, as usual, managed all of our enquiries promptly and efficiently. This was the 5th trip I had organised through Global Journeys and would have no hesitation in recommending the company to any traveller.
We had a wonderful time! The accommodation everywhere we stayed was excellent, the food was delicious and the Canadian people are delightful and super friendly! Our only issue was the train, the cabin was so small we had to take it in turn to move around. The service on train was excellent as was the food, it was an experience and we shared many a laugh read more with our fellow passengers! Canada is breathtakingly beautiful, felt like we were inside a postcard.
Global Journeys' service is always excellent. The train and ship were well done and unique experiences but we won't be repeating them. Not an issue with the tour as such, but the North American tipping experience takes the shine off any visit.
A quick sample of Germany 5German VistaGraham & Caroline, SA, Australia, Sep 2018
This was our first tour with Globus and we would definitely consider future tours with them. I'm quite tall and legroom on a coach can be an issue but the Globus coach had plenty of legroom for me and was very comfortable. The tour guide was excellent and everything was well organised. The hotel standard was very good except in Rothenburg where the read more hotel had a great location in the middle of the old town but was a bit basic. Nevertheless, if you want the good location, there wasn't any better alternatives and we appreciated the location. The tour pace was quite good, with plenty of free time in stops. For some unknown reason the passengers were 95% American but most were very pleasant and the mix didn't spoil the tour for us.
Booking the tour with Global Journeys was good, booking airfares was problematic. Accommodation was good apart from issues with toilets. Fellow travelers were good company.
