During your visit to a Turkish carpet emporium, learn about the rich heritage and intricate artistry of carpet weaving. Visit the House of Virgin Mary at Mt. Koressos, then spend the rest of the day at leisure.

This evening you may consider joining an optional dinner at a local restaurant in Izmir and indulge in some of the local raki. (B)

Leave the coastal city of Izmir behind as you journey inland to Pamukkale. Relax and enjoy the blissful thermal pools at your hotel before dinner. (B/D) Stay: Colossae Thermal

Tread in the footsteps of the ancients who sought relief and relaxation at the Roman health spa at Hierapolis, then admire the bubbling pools and delicate white cascades of water of Pamukkale's Cotton Castle Springs. Our stop for the next two nights is the Mediterranean retreat of Antalya. Enjoy some time on your own ambling through the winding lanes of its old city and admiring beautifully preserved Ottoman architecture.

This evening, join your companions for dinner at a local restaurant. (B/D) Stay: Marmara Antalya

This evening we dine at our hotel in Ankara. (B/D) Stay: Grand Mercure Ankara

Returning to Istanbul, Dive Into Culture with a visit to the Grand Bazaar. Discover the hidden lanes and watch artisans at work while you wander the main thoroughfares. Spend some time haggling with passionate market vendors lining its labyrinthine lanes. Enjoy the rest of the day on your own. Best of Turkey Tour 1 , NSW, Australia, Mar 2024

History and Culture of Turkey 4 , ACT, Australia, Mar 2019
This was our 4th Trafalgar tour so we were confident that we would have an experienced tour director and driver and that the itinerary would provide us with the very best opportunity to see the highlights of Turkey. Istanbul - a city of 18 million people is breathtaking with the Blue Mosque, Topkapi Palace, the Grand Bazaar and the Hagia Sophia highlights read more of this vibrant city. Our stop at Gallipoli was poignant and Lone Pine allowed us to reflect on lives lost.

Troy and Ephesus were spectacular reminders of the power of ancient Rome and Greece, the surreal landscape of Cappadocia was unlike any other and the open air museum at Goreme was a reminder of the difficult life of early Christians in this region. Our visit to Ankara included a visit to the final resting place of Mustafa Kemal Ataturk - the founder of modern Turkey.

We would highly recommend this tour to anyone interested in history and Turkish culture. We booked this tour through Global Journeys - because we have always had excellent service and this was no exception. Georgie is very professional and always quick to respond to any query - 10/10!!
