Get lost in the narrow lanes of Edinburgh – the Scottish capital with a mystical air that combines ancient heritage with the verve of a modern city. (D) Stay: Novotel Centre, Delta by Marriott

Join your Local Specialist this morning for an intriguing sightseeing tour of the city. Ascend Castle Rock and visit Edinburgh Castle, which watches over the surrounding city from its elevated vantage point. Tread in the footsteps of the world's golfing greats and head to St. Andrews en route to the glorious Scottish Highlands. A scenic drive takes us north and across the Firth of Tay, past the city of Dundee to Pitlochry. After lunch, explore Pitlochry's vibrant high street at your leisure or join an Optional Experience to Blair Castle, the ancestral home of the Clan Murray. Your day in beautiful surrounds comes to an end with a cosy dinner at your hotel located within the Cairngorms National Park in the Scottish Highlands. (B/D) Stay: Laggan Hotel Cairngorms, The Highlander

Visit the battlefield of Culloden, the site of the Jacobites' final defeat in 1746, and explore how this bloody clash brought an end to the Highland way of life. Travel through the Highlands past Loch Ness and Eilean Donan Castle, set at the meeting point of three sea lochs. Cross to the Isle of Skye for a scenic drive and hear how Bonnie Prince Charlie escaped with help from Flora MacDonald. Stop for lunch before returning to the mainland and continuing to your Highland hotel. (B/D)

Your first stop today is to commemorate World War II history at the Commando Memorial near Fort William, from which you admire spectacular views of Britain's highest peak – Ben Nevis. Journey through the volcanic ruins and precipitous mountains that lie just beyond Glencoe to see the 'Glen of Weeping'. Here you remember the MacDonald clansmen who were massacred in 1692. Join a ranger for a MAKE TRAVEL MATTER® Experience, learn about the protection of this rare ecosystem and the important work reintroducing lost indigenous species to its flora and fauna.

Continuing towards the River Clyde, arriving at your final stop for the day – Glasgow. (B) Stay: Crowne Plaza

Madainn mhath! While your Gaelic may be a little rusty, your orientation tour around this edgy city will be anything but. Begin your day seeing Glasgow's iconic sights. Enjoy views of the Necropolis, the regal George Square and River Clyde, for over 200 years the centre of shipbuilding.

Continue to Stirling, to see its hilltop fortress, which stands as a symbol of national pride. Stirling Castle was once the seat of Scottish kings and queens, including Mary, Queen of Scots. View the Wallace Monument from the castle walls, paying tribute to the Scottish hero who fought for Scotland's independence. Later, Dive into Culture at a whisky distillery and enjoy a wee dram. Tonight, join a Be My Guest experience. (B/D)

Spectacular Scenery 3 , NSW, Australia, Jul 2018
Scotland had spectacular scenery and the Scots turned the weather on for us. We had perfect weather every day - no rain. Although we saw pretty much the whole of Scotland in a week, it highlighted the areas we would like to go back and visit and spend more time at. Our Tour Guide looked after us well, organising meals for special dietary requirements read more and allowed us to skip the tour for a day to MTB on the world cup track at Fort William, then catch the group up in Glasgow.

The starts were pretty early each day but the stints on the bus between rest stops were not too long. Would have loved to have known a little more detail about some of the stops before we chose to do some optional excursions as we wouldn't have explored some townships and chatted with the locals in some places instead.
We were surprised to see that 80% of the group were Americans, with only one other Aussie couple, a South African Couple and a Canadian Couple. So much of the discussion was American based about American things, American places and Trump.
Scotland in a week!   7 , NSW, Australia, May 2018
Even though our tour bus was pretty full, we thoroughly enjoyed this tour. 2 nights per hotel meant we weren't packing every day. Our tour guide Jon was very organised, professional and helpful all the time. The quality of the hotels was great and the touring was not too long.
Highlights of Scotland tour 1 , NSW, Australia, May 2017
Great tour for a week long journey through Scotland. Covered all the big highlights and had some great optional excursions. The guide and bus driver were excellent.
Beautiful Scenery 2 , NSW, Australia, Sep 2016
Edinburgh and Glasgow are great cities well worth exploring. The highlands are quite spectacular, however the day trip to the Isle of Skye was way too long. We left the hotel at 7.30am and didn't return until 5.45pm, most of that time sitting on the coach. This day trip was way too far and not worth the time and distance. We were told that Isle of Skye read more was a sought after destination by travellers however we didn't find it that fantastic at all, given that we spent so little time there, 90% of our time was on the coach getting there and back.
Overall I had a brilliant experience 3 , QLD, Australia, Sep 2015
As previously, booking through Global Journeys was very well handled and easy to finalise. The Best of Scotland Tour was promoted as longer stays, later starts which usually are after 9am however we only had one late start at the end of the tour. When I queried this with the Tour Director he said that it was not possible to start the day after 9am therefore read more this tour should be promoted as such. The accommodation in the Highlands and Glasgow were great however the Novotel City Centre Edinburgh was just passable. After staying there can understand why they don't get good reviews. The Welcome dinner was more of a snack with not much food served but the wine was excellent however the farewell dinner was a fabulous and memorable way to end the tour. Overall I had a brilliant experience from going on the tour and have some fantastic memories of the places we visited and the things we did.
Thank you for making my special time...special 4 , WA, Australia, Jun 2015
I booked the tour as a special anniversary - it was a year ago my husband passed away. I wanted to be in a special place for the anniversary. The timing of being in the highlands at the exact time with a small drink in my hand to toast the day couldn't of be planned any better if I tried. The whole trip was amazing, yes, a lot to do in such a small read more amount of time but I saw and did some fabulous things. The added extras also well worth the money and added to the whole trip. We were also lucky we had a great bunch of travellers that all got on and happy to mix. Our tour Guide and driver were amazing, nothing too much trouble, always presented well, neat well dressed pair that took great pride in the coach too. Compared to some of other company's - well done on the whole experience. I would not hesitate to book with you again. Thank you for making my special time...special.
Fantastic service Global Journeys 2 , Australia, Jul 2014
We would really like to thank Michelle for all her help she certainly made everything easy for us and took care of all the details enabling us to simply sit back and enjoy our holiday. No question was too trivial. I will certainly book with you again in the future and would be very happy to recommend Global Journeys to all our family and friends.
Good pace and lots of interesting commentary 1 , Australia, Jun 2014
Appreciated Global Journeys efforts in securing us a place on the tour when others had been telling us it was full! Also very professional service. Tour was great, good pace and lots of interesting commentary by the Tour Director.
Highlands and Loch Lomond cruise were the best parts 1 , Australia, Oct 2011
Great organisation by agent Georgie Walpole, extremely efficient and hassle free. Tour of Scotland was very enjoyable, tour leader Tom was knowledgeable and organised and a pleasant guy. Bus new and comfortable and driver also exemplary. The guide at Edinburgh Castle was loud and self important and treated us like children. There is no doubt he is very read more knowledgeable but I think you could do better here. The whiskey distillery was not functioning when we visited and the guide was bored and boring. This was a big waste of time and every one who went agreed it was hopeless. Apart from these two minor problems the trip was all I hoped for. It gave me a glimpse of Scotland and I will return there for a longer holiday in future. The Highlands and Loch Lomond cruise were in my opinion the best part but of course that is just personal preference.
