Today, say goodbye to Denmark and take an included flight to Bergen, a colourful town on the western coast of Norway. The second largest city in Norway, Bergen is the main capital of the fjord country.

This morning, head out on a walking tour of Bergen. See King Haakon's Hall, the Rosenkranz Tower, the Grieghall and the bustling fish and flower markets. Enjoy free time in Bryggen before taking a funicular train to the top of Mount Floyen. Take in spectacular views of Bergen and the surrounding fjords before enjoying the rest of the day at leisure. Enroute to Lofthus, enjoy a cruise on the pristine Hardangerfjord, the fourth longest fjord in the world.

This morning, travel by coach to Voss where you have some free time before boarding the iconic Flam Railway, one of the most beautiful train journeys in the world. Admire the stunning scenery of Western Norway as you travel by rail alongside majestic waterfalls, lush green vegetation and deep blue fjords. Stay: Flam, Fretheim Hotel (B/D)

Today visit Briksdal Glacier, set amidst waterfalls and mountains. From 1,200 metres, the Briksdal Glacier is just one arm of Europe's largest glacier, the Jostedalsbreen. After lunch, ride to the glacier in a ‘troll car.' This evening, arrive in Geiranger. Stay Two Nights: Geiranger, Union Hotel (B/L/D)

Head to Dalsnibba Mountain, 11,500 metres above sea level offering a magnificent vista of the surrounding mountainous landscape and the fjord below. After viewing Geirangerfjord from above, experience it firsthand with a cruise on this UNESCO World Heritage site. (B)

On your way to Alesund, journey along the Trollstiegen road, one of the most scenic roads in the world. Stay: Alesund, Brosundet Hotel (B/D)

• Take a backstage tour of the Oslo Opera House. Home to the Norwegian National Opera and Ballet, this unique building features angular architecture seemingly arising from the waters of Oslo Fjord.

• Perhaps head off on a nature hike, keeping watch for moose and other local wildlife before returning for an outdoor dinner. Those who prefer to stay in can enjoy a relaxing spa experience, followed by dinner at the hotel.

This morning, visit the Old Town of Sigtuna, a medieval town that dates back to 1252, featuring colourful wooden houses, old church ruins and runic stones.

Later, arrive in Stockholm, the largest of the Nordic cities. Known as the' Venice of the North', Stockholm is built upon an archipelago of islands and canals.

• Foodies will delight in a visit to Stockholm's market halls and dining hot spots, where you will be introduced to an array of Swedish delights. Alternatively, visit the Vasa Ship Museum.

This morning, transfer to the airport for your included flight to Amsterdam. You'll be met on arrival and transfer you to your ship. Stay 14 Nights: APT Ostara (B/D)

• Perhaps cruise the canals on a glass-top boat or visit the Old Amsterdam Cheese Store for a cheese tasting matched with wine. Alternatively, join a guided bike ride through the countryside to the village of Durgerdam before visiting the Street Art Museum. Guests travelling on spring departures can also visit Keukenhof Gardens, home to more than seven million flowering bulbs.

• Princess Heide von Hohenzollern will graciously welcome you into her home, Namedy Castle. Wander through the castle and its manicured gardens, before savouring a morning tea, where a pianist sets the mood.

• You might like to take a gondola ride or visit Siegfried's Mechanical Musical Instrument Museum. Alternatively, visit a historic wine cellar for a tasting of Rhine Valley wines.

• Seize the day and walk to the 18th-century Wurzburg Residence. Alternatively, perhaps travel to Rothenburg, or join a hike to Marienberg Fortress.

Sail to World Heritage-listed Bamberg, where you'll join a guided exploration with a local expert. (B/L/D)

• Perhaps journey through Nuremberg's World War II sites. Or join a tour focused on Nuremberg's medieval history.

• In Regensburg, set out on a guided tour to explore its atmospheric World Heritage-listed city centre. With a history dating back to the Roman times, this incredible city was the first capital of Bavaria. Your tour will finish with a tasting at Regensburg's historic sausage kitchen, thought to be one of the oldest working restaurants in the world. Or you might prefer to get active and take a guided bike ride to the Walhalla memorial. This neo-classical building sits above the Danube River and houses a hall of fame that honours notable politicians, artists, sovereigns and scientists from Germany's past.

• Be welcomed by a Jagdhornblaser – a hunting horn blower – into a rustic, traditional restaurant on the Gaisberg mountain overlooking Salzburg. Enjoy a welcome drink as you soak in the scenery before savouring a delicious lunch, followed by a show featuring music from the classic film, ‘The Sound of Music'.

• Cruise through the Wachau Valley to Durnstein, where you'll roam its cobblestoned lanes at your leisure. Or perhaps take a guided bike ride along the river from Melk to Durnstein.

• After dinner, head to the princely family of Liechtenstein's City Palace in the heart of Vienna, where we have arranged an exclusive cocktail party and private recital, just for you. A full orchestra will perform classical masterpieces by Mozart and Strauss, and you will be enchanted by an operatic recital.

• Perhaps visit the 1,441-room Schonbrunn Palace and its gardens. Otherwise, tick another country off your list and journey to Slovakia's Bratislava.

• Enjoy a city tour of Budapest taking in its historic monuments including Heroes' Square and St Stephen's Cathedral before a visit to the Great Market Hall for some tastings of local produce. Alternatively, board a funicular to Castle Hill, then walk to Fisherman's Bastion. Alternatively, you may wish to relax in the thermal water pools at one of Budapest's famous baths.

Sadly, the time has come to say goodbye and be transferred to the airport. (B)
