Overall content was quite good. The coach did not provide much leg room when compared to other coaches that we saw. Some of the optional excursions should have been part of the base tour (particularly) Portugal's Coastline. Others places were actually passed along the way but became an optional experience. The feedback to us regarding the optional experience read more 'evening meals' (except one) was that they were not good value and not enjoyed. We did not feel that the 'Area Specialist' (in Morocco) and 'Local Specialists' were good value. We felt that the Tour Director had sufficient knowledge to fulfill these roles in most areas.

Highlights of Turkey

The positives were of course Turkey, the coach was comfortable, clean, modern, the staff Tour Guide, Driver, and Butler were excellent, faultless in their service. Hotels were mixed in their quality of accommodation. The negatives were a couple of the hotels and the lively pace did have most of the tourists and staff, pretty tired by the end.
I think there is so much to see in Edinburgh that the accomodation should be there not Glasgow, spend a half day in Glasgow and two in Edinburgh, 4 hrs is not enough time to see anything. A night in Belfast would be good, not just a drive thru the City. Dublin to see a lot you need at a full day, there should be enough time in Windsor to some exploring. read more It really is just a sightseeing tour. On the whole we loved the trip, to get a taste to go back and tour by car.

We thoroughly enjoyed everything about this itinerary and the services of Insight Vacations. Our tour director, Anne Kennedy, was outstanding and went beyond the call of duty particularly with the end of tour flights changes from the impact of the Rome airport fire. Roserio, our driver, was amazing and so professional and attentive to customer needs. read more This is only our second tour with Insight Vacations and will no doubt not be our last. This is our first experience with Global Journeys, and the service provided was simple, stress free, timely, and professional. Thank you Michelle.
This was my first guided tour and it exceeded my expectations. Firstly, booking through Global Journeys was extremely easy, and Georgie answered any questions I had promptly. The itinerary was exactly what I was looking for. This was then enhanced by an excellent tour director, Ben, and very competent coach driver, Wali. Ben had great communication read more and people skills, and excellent knowledge of all places we visited. The highlights for me were Washington DC, Niagara Falls, Ottawa and Quebec City, as well as New York, which I was already familiar with.Our group was large, but friendly and considerate of others, and all tour members felt very included, so it was socially very enjoyable. Much fun was had during the tour's included dinners. Based on my experience I would highly recommend this Trafalgar tour, and would not hesitate to recommend and use Global Journeys in the future. Our tour guide was particularly efficient and sensitive to individual needs. When we claimed that a particular option was poor value for money she negotiated a discount.
Absolutely fantastic tour - Ernesta our tour guide was unbelievable! Everything was perfect. Cannot wait to book another tour! Insight accommodation was more than we expected! Loved it loved it loved it. So many amazing highlights. Everyday was more amazing than the previous. Thank you Emily Cran for looking after our booking - very efficient and read more professional. Definitely book with you again.
The pre-tour service provided by Emily Cran and Global Journeys was fantastic and despite doing everything over the internet/email, we could not have asked for better support and service. The Trafalgar Tour was outstanding with both our Tour Director (Julie Hanham) and Drive (Paolo) making our first trip to Europe a holiday of a lifetime that we will read more always remember. I can highly recommend Trafalgar 'Family Experience' tours and we will be back.

Best of Greece

Time in Athens was too short. Quality of accommodation varied. Location of Athens hotel is good. Guide and driver were excellent. Pace was wearying for older members of tour ie the majority!
Wonderfully planned tour taking in as much of a country as one possibly could with all the hidden treasures. Giovanna was exceptionally professional & caring. She came around in the coach several times checking everyone was OK & comfortable.

Wonders of Turkey (Small Group)

It was a shame that we missed the first day of our tour of Turkey because Turkish Airlines bumped us off our flight to Instanbul due to an earlier flight cancellation. We were then unable to get a seat on a flight to Instanbul until the following day, which was Day 2 of the tour. Being a Sunday when this happened it was not easy to contact Insight read more to let them know about our unfortunate delay, which was outside our control completely, although I was able to leave messages with Insight's London Office and the hotel in Istanbul. This hiccup over, we joined the tour group late in the afternoon of Day 2. Our tour director was nothing short of brilliant. He not only had outstanding people and management skills, but his in-depth knowledge of the places we visited, their history, geography, and modern society was simply outstanding, and his ability to communicate this equally as good. We learnt so much about Turkey - both ancient and modern - that our memories of that part of the trip will stay with us forever.
We joined the Greek Island cruise section of our holiday in Istanbul. While this was a more relaxed paced, we found we had been spoilt with having such an outstanding tour director with us throughout Turkey. Because a number of different tour groups joined the cruise, the group we had was suddenly much bigger, coaches for the land excursions more crowded and overall the tour guiding was not nearly as informative and interesting as our Turkey experience had been. This may have been influenced by the nature of a cruise differing from the nature of a smaller, more intimate tour group travelling throughout a country together. But this does not explain the different attitudes between the tour directors. Whilst our Turkey tour director was very open in sharing and acknowledging the historical past and the present of the country in a way that acknowledged how the past has shaped the present, we found that the Greek tour guides always seemed defensive of Greece, relying primarily on its ancient past without teaching us also about modern day Greece. They did not distinguish well between historical fact and mythical history, and this was frustrating for anyone who actually had any knowledge of ancient history. We definitely missed being led on a tour of discovering how more recent history (e.g. the last 1000 years) has influenced the development of modern Greece, and just how Greece functions today. We always got the feeling that somehow the Greeks have a bit of a chip on their shoulder, and only had the glories of their ancient past to boast of... I actually don't think this should be the case, as Greece is undoubtedly a very unique country. it's just that the tour guide failed to bring this out.
Nevertheless, overall the trip was fantastic. Without at doubt, the Turkish Delights part of the trip, though very full on, was an amazing and unforgettable experience that has changed my understanding and knowledge of modern Turkey enormously. Marvel Tourism, that manages the Insight tours in Turkey, really has got their act together! Well done!

We wanted to experience the cold weather, snow and living in the Arctic and weren't disappointed. Everything went like clockwork. Tour director Chad Hartin and coach driver Oleg were excellent. We had good weather most days. Even when it was overcast it never rained heavily. The tour group were all very nice and we made new friends. Saw some wonderful read more sights, got up close to wildlife, reindeer, huskies. etc. We took all the extra excursions so it was very lively but we thoroughly enjoyed everything. Took lots of great photos too.
Optional sites/experiences were very good 1

Included and optional sites/experiences were very good. However, a lot of times were spent travelling by coach to reach next destinations so quite tiring and uncomfortable. Optional experences were quite a significant cost in foreign currency so it will be beter if can be prepaid. I am glad I booked with Global Journeys this time because they were well organised.
Our tour director was superb! Our driver was superb! Both were absolutely top rate and a credit to Trafalgar. As tour newbies, the practicalities of getting personal washing done was a challenge!
Highly recommend this tour. Great hotels, pace was good, saw some fantastic sights. Costa Del Sol not that good, hotel good but too much of a tourist holiday destination. But would certainly do it again. Loved the Spanish food wine and people.
Enjoyed especially with the knowledge of the fabulous Tour Director Stephen Thacker. He pointed out little details and included his vast travel stories and most of all his upbeat positive attitude.

I would recommend Trafalgar tours to anyone, Costsaver experience was exceptional, although fairly fast paced. The optional excursion experiences made the holiday and recommend travellers to budget and take advantage of these.

As the name says it was highlights so you were on and off the coach very quickly. It gave you a brief look at many things and makes you want to return to spend more time in certain areas. The coach driver and tour guide were fantastic. It was a great holiday.
