A guided exploration of this exquisite, ancient town will reveal the Cité, its double ring of ramparts and 52 towers. (B/D) Stay: Mercure La Cité

Then, travel west to the Basque Coast, where you'll spend the night. (B) Stay: Novotel Anglet Biarritz.

This morning, perhaps join an Optional Experience across the border into Spain to discover more about the  Basque Country. Later, after journeying through Les Landes, you will arrive in the wine capital of Bordeaux, whose stunning Garonne riverfront and Age of Enlightenment history and architecture have made it one of France's most visited cities. Bordeaux wine has been produced in the region since the 8th century and the biannual wine fair attracts buyers from all over the world. Tour through France 0 , NSW, Australia, Aug 2025
It was the most wonderful holiday. France was just lovely being summer I just love the heat and every day was full of fabulous scenery, wonderful little villages, especially loved the cobblestone streets and alley ways. Mark the Tour Director was fabulous nothing was too much trouble for him and Nic the driver got the coach into places that were very read more small but he managed it. Overall it was just fantastic.
Everything was perfect 0 , WA, Australia, Jun 2025
Best of France was a wonderful trip. Our TD was Bruno who was excellent, which made our journey relaxed and fun. Our driver Jordan was very friendly and exceptionally skill full in his driving. The group we were travelling with was of mixed ages and we all got along and had fun together. Special thanks to Tracey at Global Journeys who handled our booking read more and was always available to answer our questions.
Wonderful tour through the south of France   1 , QLD, Australia, Sep 2023
This was our first Trafalgar tour and it was great. The quality of the tour guide and the coach driver was amazing. Our guide was so enthusiastic, caring and kind and made everyone feel welcome. The included activities were great and we did all the optional ones also. It is a busy day but you get to see so much of France. We particularly enjoyed the read more be my guest, St Emilion winery and the night in the castle. You would need at least a few days either side in Paris to do all the things the things that the tour does not cover such as the Eiffel Tower, Louvre and Arc de Triomphe. Hotel accommodation was mostly good. Buffet breakfast every morning was wonderful. (GJ: Great photo!)
One of the best trips we have done! 4 , ACT, Australia, Sep 2019
The Best of France is one of the best trips we have done - so many interesting places and our Tour Director, Marie DuBois, was absolutely fantastic. Accommodation and meals were A1 apart from Bordeaux - the hotel was below par and dinner in the restaurant was forgettable. Yvonne Brooks once again arranged this trip for us and it went smoothly without read more a hitch - thank you Yvonne.
Simply loved this trip! 5 , QLD, Australia, Sep 2019
We simply loved our France trip! Trafalgar is fabulous and we were so happy we decided to do the "Best of France" tour. It was so comprehensive and we enjoyed going to all of the main regions of France. We could happily do this 13-Day trip all over again!
Easiest way to see the best of France   3 , NSW, Australia, Jul 2018
I was saddened for the trip to end as I made good lasting friendships and saw everything I needed to see in France. I would rate it better than the last trip with Trafalgar in the UK in 2013. Congratulations to Trafalgar's organisers. I also want to thank Global Journeys including my organiser Madeline from the start to finish, a special salute to her read more for keeping in touch throughout the booking and journey.
Global Journeys are the BEST!   4 , NSW, Australia, Oct 2017
I would highly recommend Global Journeys as a booking agency! They made every aspect of the booking easy and worry free. They are highly efficient, helpful and thoroughly professional.
The Very Best of France 5 , NSW, Australia, Oct 2016
The booking process for Cathay Pacific flights & Trafalgar's Best of France Tour were handled very professionally by Hannah at Global Journeys. Can't fault service & meals on Cathay Pacific. I'm always happy to fly on that airline.

The 13-day Trafalgar Best of France Tour was very comprehensive, giving a detailed overview of the country. I opted read more to take advantage of all the optional outings offered (as did most of the other passengers) - something I don't normally do, as they're often just dinners & entertainment put on solely for tourists, not the 'genuine thing'. Doing this enabled us, for example, to visit the Palace of Versailles (approx. 20 kms. from Paris) easily & far more quickly than trying to do it on our own. The night at the Moulin Rouge was costly but an experience not to be missed! Again, picked up at our hotel, dropped off at the door of the Moulin Rouge, coach waiting for us afterwards, then dropped off back at our hotel - so easy! The cost of the Best of France tour included both our first & last nights' accommodation in Paris (which isn't always the case with tour operators), plus some sightseeing in Paris itself.

Our Tour Guide (Krista), and Driver (Gilbert) were both second to none! - & I've been on numerous tours. This was my first Trafalgar tour and the only slight criticism would be that the standard of most hotels wasn't quite as good as I'd expected, but they were clean, comfortable, and well located. A great trip with a great group of people, great crew, in a great country!
The 'Best' Best of France Trafalgar tour   2 , VIC, Australia, Oct 2016
We began in Paris with an introduction to our tour guide David. He was a walking encyclopedia on France, even though he was English. David soon had us trained in early rising, packing and leaving our bags out for collection each morning. Hotel breakfasts were hot and quite good, as was the accommodation. I do advise to pack your own tea if you are a read more tea drinker. The French don't seem to comprehend English tea. The pace of our tour was hectic at times but leisurely at other times. Our driver Jojo, made negotiating the narrow french streets look easy and was a delightful man. Take plenty of pictures as the number of sights can become a blur. Monaco and Nice were surprisingly good, as was the Loire valley and Omaha Beach. Included meals were good, varied and often at local restaurants. Extra excursions were a must and good value. They should be considered when costing your tour. Paris deserved the extra time allocated and was a perfect setting for our farewell to this excellent tour. I have spent many hours sifting through film and photos of this trip and it serves to enhance the memories of a time I would do again if the opportunity came.
Top notch tour around France 3 , WA, Australia, Aug 2016
The Best of France tour by Trafalgar was incredible. We visited beautiful cities like Paris, Lyon, Nice and Bordeaux and also smaller historic towns like Beaune, Biarritz and Carcassonne where we stayed within the impressive castle. The evening meals throughout were top class and were three courses including wine. These meals were either at the hotels read more or at historic buildings such as in Carcassonne and Paris where we dined in one of the oldest and most prominent in the city. The tour was made even more enjoyable by our tour director who was incredibly knowledgeable and a very caring but also efficient person. The other travellers mainly American, Australian and Canadian were great fun to travel with and everyone enjoyed each others company immensely. It really did became a family away from home. Global Journeys were also a great company to deal with regarding booking and ticketing. Always available and very responsive.
