Very interesting tour. White Xmas. 5Mere K Nepia , VIC, Australia, Jan 2017
The tour was a great introduction to Austria, Czech Republic, Hungary and Munich. Fantastic sights visited especially during winter it was magical at night. It can be cold at times maybe most times but you learn to wear more layers underneath. It is worth seeing a winter Wonderland that we never experience at Xmas. Every city we visited was interesting read more and different with iconic beautiful especially at night. Try not to commit to all the side tours offered as you do require more free time to see and wander around places you may prefer to visit. Highlights included; dinner and show in Czech Republic and dinner and show in Budapest plus dinner boat cruise up the frozen Danube in Budapest. Vienna and Salzburg are beautiful cities. Travellers were very friendly and you can't help meeting people who you will keep in touch with. Great value for money. Hotels were mostly ok. Some rooms a bit small. Coach needed to have battery charging for electronic devices. Coach driver was very experienced and we felt safe. Definitely happy to have participated in this experience.
Good Christmas/NY holiday in Italy 10Italy's BestJoseph Aladin, NT, Australia, Dec 2016
This is my first tour with Cosmos. I was made aware by my friends that it is not in the same league as Trafalgar and Insight Vacations which I normally book. I considered the Cosmos tour as the itinerary was heaps better compared to other providers at that time. I was glad I went ahead booking my holiday as I enjoyed the tour. The tour itinerary provided read more a lot of free time to explore places we visited which was my main concern with previous tours I have done. There was not a lot of included meals in the ititnerary which meant more flexibility. I was surprised that there were 41 of us in the group but it all worked out in the end as everyone was considerate except for one incident in Pisa where we have to wait for an hour for one guest who in the end we left behind after our wonderful tour director, Mattia, made a difficult decision.
Mattia, our Tour Director and Nino, our Coach Driver were wonderful. They were friendly and accommodating and nothing was too hard for them. I like how they consider loo breaks for long journeys and they wait outside the bus exits offering to help those that may need assistance getting off the bus. They even organised drinks at our accommodation in Venice to toast the New Year. Accommodation wise, I found the location of where we stayed in Rome (Green Park Pamphili and Holiday Inn San Giovannie) and Venice (Holiday Inn Venice Mestre) too far from the centre of town. Comfort wise, accommodation at Montecatini, Venice, Perugia and Holiday Inn San Giovanni were good. Green Park Pamphili needs some renovation, Star Hotels President in Genova needs to fix its heating control as we had to open window to cool down room), Hotel Atlantico at Lake Maggiore had narrow and short beds.
Appreciated the included breakfast in our accommodations, but breakfast provided at Hotel Atlantico (Lake Maggiore) and Hotel Ascott (Sorrento) leaves much to be desired. Included tours offered were good. My favourites were in Florence, Cinque Terre, Lugano and Assisi. Enjoyed most of the included dinners, except that you have to pay extra for bottled water. Best included meal was in Rome (Christmas lunch) and Sorrento which was our farewell meal. Local guides provided were knowledgable and with a good command of English. Optional tours were provided to us which includes special dinners to experience local cuisine. Best optional tours I took for me were in Capri, Pompeii (with hail at the start of our walk), Positano (despite the bad weather). Best optional dinner I joined was in Venice.
WiFi availability on the coach was good as you can catch up on your email and/or read news. Our tour bus broke down while we were in our optional excursion in Positano and a replacement coach was provided within the hour with the same comfort except for WiFi. Our coach driver, Nino, was so good that I can relax and doze off. No sudden braking or speeding. Just constant. I found the tour good value for what was offered. I will not hesitate joining another Cosmos tour if the itinerary suits me.
Jewels of Morocco, excellent...all round! 5Highlights of MoroccoJohn, QLD, Australia, Dec 2016
Well planned trip, great coach (and driver), tour guide was lovely and full of (nice) trivia about Morocco - great interesting source of knowledge and information. Fun bunch of people from around the world to mingle with on the bus. Including the fantastic weather in December, another enjoyable 'Cosmos' holiday - thank you Ann (tour guide).
I was nervous of travelling single, however from the moment I requested a quote to ending the holiday, it was my best holiday decision. If people are wanting a taste of Europe I could not speak highly enough of my travel consultant, tour director and coach driver. The age of our tour members was great with all ages covered. For anyone wondering if read more it is OK going to Europe in off season, my answer is absolutely. Yes you need a great coat and jackets but you miss the crowds and get up nice and close to all the wonderful destinations. My next holiday will be booked with Global Journeys, I would not use anyone else.
Great overview of Europe 6Jude, NSW, Australia, Dec 2016
The trip is a great overview of Europe. The pace is hectic if you do the optional extras. I understand that for the cost it is good value but some of the choices for the included tours were questionable. I feel they need to look at the Barcelona leg as it added a lot of travel for a very short time in the city. Some very long days on the buss but even read more with all of this I had a fantastic time. We saw so many sights that were amazing and travelling during Christmas and New years made the trip very special. We were lucky to have a fabulous tour group where everyone got on well and our tour guide and bus driver were fantastic. Georgie from Global Journeys was a pleasure to deal with, nothing was to much trouble.
Enjoyed this tour immensely. Loved Spain and Portugal, Morocco was certainly different. Our guide Angel and driver Pedro were great.
Enjoyable Tour of Vietnam 2Herbert & Pauline Dayaratne, New Zealand, Nov 2016
From day one of our tour "Simply Vietnam" it was very enjoyable and we found everything from accommodation, food, visits to important places etc. to be excellent. Our Tour Director was very knowledgeable, friendly, and helpful and took extra care to ensure that our group had a fantastic experience of a life time. Booking the tour was made easy by friendly read more and helpful staff in New Zealand (Auckland) office. Overall, this was a memorable holiday for both of us.
Well priced holiday. 2Theresa , VIC, Australia, Nov 2016
Trip a little slow at the beginning as I was a solo traveller and there were no introductions to fellow travellers. Value of tour was excellent. Bus driver, bus boy were very good but special thanks to Perez the guide. A true gent who was caring, passionate about Thailand, and organised extra activities. Option to pre pay gratuties would also be handy. read more Appreciate early check-in when I arrived 6.30 am at hotel. Too many temples but that's Thailand. Catered food inclusions very good.
Dixieland Tour 8Rhythms of the RoadMichael England, Qld, Australia, Oct 2016
Peter was likely the best tour guide we've ever had. His initiative and genuine commitment to ensuring our enjoyment, including extensive knowledge, stories, music and even costumes were first class. Only criticism is the over the top preamble speech that Cosmos makes all their tour guides give re tipping.
12 Day Western Wonders Cosmos 3Western WondersJanice Corry & Kimberley Turner, VIC, Australia, Oct 2016
We really enjoyed the natural wonders we visited on this Tour. The Grand Canyon, Yosemite and Muir Woods were an experience not to be missed. Of the cities, San Francisco was the standout.
Italy - Simply the Best 5Italy's BestMargaret Adamson, WA, Australia, Oct 2016
This was our fifth Cosmos tour. Cosmos promised us a taste of Italy on this tour which is what we got. The regions covered included the rolling hills of Tuscany, the fishing villages of Cinque Terre, the northern picturesque lakes combined with Alps, Venice with its canals instead of roads, ruins in Pompeii, the absolutely stunning Amalfi Coast and read more the historical city of Rome. Each region was so different from the other. Our group consisted of 44 with the majority being Aussies. Each day started very early to ensure that our Cosmos coach was the first coach at the destination. As we were leaving the other tourist coaches were arriving. The tour ran on schedule and as always was very professionally organised. We did all of the optional excursions and they were truly worth the money. The hotels were all of a very good standard, with our one at Lake Maggiore being upgraded to give us sweeping views of the lake and alps. Overall a terrific holiday and would highly recommend this tour to others wishing to see Italy. Thank you Cosmos for another enjoyable adventure!
This was an amazing trip! I have just come back (Nov 2016) and highly recommend it. I fell in love with Peru with highlights of Machu Picchu. Their incredible ruins will leave you bewildered on how they were build. The climb to the Sun Gate is worth it ,we did it at 6am - Would not recommended it at any other time of day. Lake Titicaca is a must before read more the Indians and their culture become westernized - they appreciate your leftover tube of sun screen. Iguazu falls is just beautiful from both the Brazilian and Argentina side (take the upper and lower trail, it's not difficult). Rio and Lima beautiful! Only 8 of the 35 on tour did the extension to the Amazon, it was amazing, lots of jungle walks, boas, claymans, Mccaw and toucans. Don't be put off by Zika virus and your not endanger of wild aminals. IT'S a must when u go to South America. Couldn't have organised this on my own, a must through Global Journeys, just too much to see in 23 days. Be prepared for lots of flights.
Great American History tour 4Ray, VIC, Australia, Oct 2016
This trip turned out better than we expected for the price and what we saw and did was good value for money. The tour director [Jim Ryan] was terrific, and the caoch driver was great. I would not have included the visit to Valley Forge however it was irrelevant, instead they could have spent some more time maybe in Richmond or the Shenandoah Valley read more and still have had time for a farewell dinner last night. The history was fantastic. May I also suggest anyone who does this tour to do your homework in American history before you leave Australia. We read up for weeks prior and it really helped piece together all the places we visited which included both the war of independence and the civil war which of course is one hundred years apart. The fact that we had already visited Boston first helped because that is where the first shot was fired. We met some lovely people on the journey also.
The trip was wonderful. I'd never been to northern France - only Paris, so I learnt a lot of the history about northern France. My highlight was visiting the D-Day beaches.
VG to excellent well organised trip with a first class, experienced tour guide and a safe, experienced, competent driver 5The British Isles in DepthAnthony & Melinda Matheson, VIC, Australia, Oct 2016
No real negatives as long as you were prepared to 'go with the flow' on a very long, diverse trip. Would have been good to have had the Cosmos paperwork earlier (not in the last week, when we had already departed for a stopover on the way over) albeit got it on email in UK.
Extraordinary Experience 3Classic New EnglandJohn & Marie Kelly, QLD, Australia, Oct 2016
We had done 3 previous tours with Cosmos and thought we had seen the best of their offerings. We experienced an absolutely fabulous New England Traditions Tour in October 2016 - in fact we would call it positively life changing
Many, many thanks to Hannah at Global Journeys who arranged our tour including extensions and to Doris an absolutely professional read more and competent Tour Director on tour 8100 and to Bruce - the calm, efficient, safe and professional Driver on our road trip. Thank you Cosmos & Global Journeys - we'll be back!
The overall trip was fantastic...travelling as a solo person for the first time, was a bit scary, but the other travellers were great, and very inclusive of me. Loved the different kinds of accommodation, even if beds were somewhat old, the character and ambience was special...reminded us of Faulty Towers ie Fiona, our tour operator was the best. read more Patient, amusing, always so helpful (put up with a bit from "precious" travellers... always a step ahead, full marks to her. Loved her Irish accent too. Food over all was very good, although the Irish are not known for their food! Saw so much of GB, we were on the go with early starts and long days, but how do cover such a big area without doing that.
The only negative for me was the Loch Ness cruise... not worth the money, boat operator just repeated the dialogue we had prior to boarding! And time of night heading to dark, and the few tumbled down relics of castle, well, didn't do anything for me in spite of historical relevance. I would definitely travel with Cosmos again, when I save my $. Yvonne Brookes at Global Journeys was helpful too..not everybody is computer literate!
Tour guide a little stilted initially, but after feedback from several travellers she made a concerted effort to do more research and be more informative. Most inclusions were good except for Boston harbour cruise which was a glorified ferry ride. Initial preamble talk re tipping levels is too strong on all USA tours and Cosmos should allow guides to read more water this down a bit as it actually discourages generous tipping levels by all travellers no matter their country of origin.
Great tour, untrusted and covered all the iconic spots. Corey was an excellent tour guide, very knowledgeable and engaged well with everyone. Chris, our driver, kept us safe at all times . Both gentlemen were comsumate professionals.
Craving for next tour in North America 10Classic New EnglandCloud, NSW, Australia, Oct 2016
It is a wonderful trip visiting new England this Oct and experiencing the beautiful autumn and of course a best season in North America. The whole journey has been arranged with a good physical pace and enough free time to explore the places on our own. My excitement is a few hidden gems on the way. e.g. unforgettable landscape in Newport and fall foliage read more in New Hampshire. I suggest that we could have spend one more night in Boston, where there are lots of historical spots to visit. My overall impression in the accommodation is good, except for the tiny room in New York. I would say a big thanks to my tour guide and coach driver, whose useful suggestions perfected my journey.
It's been such a pleasure to book my 4th overseas tour with Cosmos and this is also my 3rd connection with Global Journeys. And I highly recommend the tours with them. Attached photo was taken in Mirror Lake, located in Lake Placid. It's one of the highlights in my tour.
