Discover the banks of the River Seine with its many romantic bridges. See the obelisk in the center of the Place de la Concorde and drive along the Champs Elysées to the Arc de Triomphe.

Later, join your Travel Director at a local brasserie in the heart of Paris for a fabulous Welcome Dinner. (DW) Stay: Le Méridien Etoile, Paris.

Start your day with an Insight Choice. Choose to explore community life in the picturesque Montorgueil district. Alternatively, join an avid foodie, as you head into areas where Parisians go about their daily lives to explore small shops and sample local treats and delicacies. With the afternoon free, there are countless opportunities to enjoy the lively atmosphere of this glittering city, perhaps join an Optional Experience to see the Paris cabaret? (B)

Journey through the rural French countryside of Burgandy, famous for its vineyards and wines, pass the Jura Mountains crossing into Switzerland. Arrive in glorious lakeside Lucerne. A range of enticing options are available for your Dine-Around Evening. Choose from a selection of hand-picked local restaurants. (B/DW) Stay: Hotel Astoria, Lucerne.

Explore Mount Stanserhorn on a MAKE TRAVEL MATTER® Experience, as an open-top cable car powered by solar panels take you up the summit. Walk along beautiful scenic pathways, keeping an eye out for marmots and other native animals, with the chance to hear a conservation talk by a Swiss ranger, to learn about local wildlife and flora. Take in the pristine mountain air and, on a clear day, witness views as far as Alsace and the Black Forest in Germany.

Upon return to Lucerne, see the town's proud Lion Monument, carved into a limestone cliff and dedicated to the heroic Swiss Guards who died defending King Louis XVI during the French Revolution. Then, take some time to stroll across the covered Chapel Bridge to the baroque Jesuit Church. The rest of the day is at leisure to shop for delectable chocolate and glamorous Swiss watches in the traffic-free Old Town. (B)

Start the day with a journey to the heart of the Alps passing through the Principality of Liechtenstein. See its tiny capital, Vaduz, with its castle located on a hillside overlooking the city. Drive into Austria and continue through the Arlberg Tunnel to mountain-ringed Innsbruck. Your Travel Director will show you the 14th century houses of the old town, the impressive Imperial Palace and the delightful Golden Roof. (B) Stay: AC Hotel Innsbruck.

In the morning, prepare to embrace this most romantic city. See the immense Campanile and Doge's Palace on St. Mark's Square, connected to the ancient prisons by the Bridge of Sighs. Join a MAKE TRAVEL MATTER® Experience as you witness the skill of glassblowers on a visit to a traditional arts center. The rest of the day is at leisure. Perhaps shop in the small arcades or why not cruise the Venetian lagoon to the island of Burano for a meal of local specialties and wine? (B)

Continue up the foothills of the Apennine Mountains to reach delightful Assisi, a stone-built town spilling over the steep hillside. With a Local Expert, visit the tomb of St. Francis and see the beautiful frescoes by Giotto in the great basilica, before continuing along the valley of the River Tiber towards the Eternal City of Rome.

In the evening, why not throw your coin into the Trevi Fountain to ensure your return to the city? (B) Stay: Kolbe Hotel Rome.

Excellent first discovery experience of Europe with Insight!   0 , Australia, Dec 2018
Excellent all round. Global Journeys kept me confident & well informed, whilst the Insight Road To Rome Tour was a trip we'll never forget. Truly had nothing to worry about, great pace & accomodating/considerate towards my pregnant wife. Knowledgeable & professional staff, head & shoulders above the rest.
Insight Tours Road to Rome (Winter)   1 , QLD, Australia, Dec 2018
Overall a good trip. Saw a lot which could not do on your own. Busy schedule but not stressed as everything taken care of.

Accommodation in Florence & Rome could be better. Really need to do the Optional tours to benefit from it so budget for these. So you could say the optional tours are not really optional.

Allow a few days at the end to relax ...read more & do shopping if you want as you don’t really get enough time for this on the tour despite what they say. The guide Gary was excellent & professional. As this was our first time to Italy & the europena continent it was a good way to do it with this tour.
Fantastic Holiday   0 , VIC, Australia, Jun 2018
We were looked after so well by Philip of Insight Vacations, the tour was fast paced and very informative. We saw so many sights in such a short amount of time, the Eiffel Tower, gondola ride just to name a few. The choice of hotels was excellent right in the heart of all the big cities, and were all of a high standard. We could not fault Jemma from ...read more Global Journeys, she looked after us and did a perfect job, thank you.
Wonderful and fantastic Road to Rome   2 , NSW, Australia, Jun 2016
Reading reviews from TripAdvisor regarding Insight Vacations before our tour started created a wait and see until we hit the first day. (GJ. Why didn't you read ours?) We met our Tour Director Brendan Lampard in the hotel and he was so very helpful. All the second thoughts of being on a tour are a thing of the past. All we can think is how to enjoy ...read more what is there for us to discovery. Brendan has been fantastic from day 1 until the last hour of our tour. He is the most patient tour director I would say. I wish he would be the tour director on every tour that we take in the future. Insight Vacations had taken care of everything for us. All we had to do was enjoy the scenery and the places we all had to see. The coach was very comfortable with extra legroom that you can fit a truckload. The coach ride from Lucern to Salzburg is the leg with the most beautiful scenery. Highly recommended. Optional tours were great as well, with local tour guides that had a broad knowledge of the area - walking in Venice, riding the Gondola, Murano Glass, Burano dinner, San Gimignano and the Eagles Nest were the most popular ones that you should not miss. Visiting Pisa and Orvieto as part of the inclusions on the tour was well worth it. We all had a great time and it's a highly recommended introduction of Europe.
Would recommend the tour to anyone 1 , Australia, Jul 2011

As for the extras offered they were all more than we had expected so pleased we took the lot. We shall definitely travel with Insight Tours again in the near future.
