At 6 pm, meet your Tour Director and travel companions for a welcome dinner at your hotel. (D)

BERLIN: Join a guided sightseeing tour of the city's historic sites. Free time this afternoon and evening. (B)

TOUR HIGHLIGHT - HISTORIC SPOTS: Explore the historic city of Berlin. Stop at the Kaiser Wilhelm Memorial Church, the symbolic heart of West Berlin, its towers rising as a symbol of peace between nations. See the vast Holocaust Memorial, the sombre site dedicated to the remembrance of the Jewish victims of the Holocaust. Take photos of the symbolic monument to peace and unity at the Brandenburg Gate – Berlin's most famous landmark.

German Jewels

DRESDEN: Free time for lunch. Guided walking tour features the Zwinger Palace Courtyard. (B) 124 mi / 200 km.

TOUR HIGHLIGHT - CULTURAL GEM: Explore the heart of Dresden with a walk to Zwinger Palace courtyard. Revered for its stunning Baroque architecture and beautiful gardens, this spectacular palace complex is the most famous building in Dresden.

The Romantic Road

ROTHENBURG: Orientation walk and overnight stay in the medieval town. Enjoy free time this afternoon and evening. (B) 251 mi / 404 km.

LOCAL FAVORITE - CULTURE & TRADITION: Get that old romantic feeling with a walk through the well-preserved medieval town of Rothenburg. Here, along Germany's historic Romantic Road region, you'll find half-timbered houses, medieval walls, and cobblestone streets, that will win your heart in the heart of Northern Bavaria.

Fairytale Endings

ROTHENBURG: Depart for a scenic drive along the Romantic Road en route to Neuschwanstein.

NEUSCHWANSTEIN: Guided visit of King Ludwig's castle. (B) 186 mi / 300 km.

LOCAL FAVORITE - LEGENDARY LIVES: King Ludwig II of Bavaria, the “Fairy tale King,” built a fantastical 1800s castle with all the modern conveniences (aka plumbing), while emphasizing the romantic vision of a storybook castle. His love for Wagnerian opera is literally plastered on the walls inside, with panoramas and frescoes of scenes from the composer's great works. So romantic and fanciful of design, the Neuschwanstein Castle inspired Walt Disney's blueprint of a castle fit for Sleeping Beauty herself.

Bavarian Blessings

OBERAMMERGAU: Stop in the beautiful Bavarian village to see the outdoor auditorium where the Passion Play is held once every ten years.

MUNICH: Enjoy free time this afternoon and evening. (B) 106 mi / 170 km.

TOUR HIGHLIGHT - HISTORY & TRADITION: Centuries ago, the residents of the beautiful Bavarian village of Oberammergau made a promise to God to re-enact Christ's Passion if he would spare them from the Black Plague of 1633. Since then, hundreds of local townspeople perform this epic production every 10 years in Oberammergau. Stroll the picturesque town and see the large outdoor auditorium.

Auf Wiedersehen, Munich!

MUNICH: Guided sightseeing includes Marienplatz. Farewell dinner at a local restaurant this evening. (B/D)

TOUR HIGHLIGHT - CULTURE & TRADITION: Experience the geographical and cultural heart of Munich at its Marienplatz, the town square since 1158. Stroll through the home of historic buildings, including the Old and New Town Halls in the picturesque heart and soul of the city. Join us at one of our local faves for a farewell dinner this evening!

Good short German tour 3 , QLD, Australia, May 2024
Good tour with well located hotels but unfortunately the Tour Director was a real let down - very disorganised and I feel he let Globus down (I have certainly let Globus know in my review with them). Excellent coach driver as always. I have previously done 2 Globus tours and 4 Cosmos tours - all these previous tours were led by very good Tour Directors. ...read more There were 27 people on this tour, all Americans and only 3 Australians.

I didn't do any of the optional tours as I wasn't interested in what was offered. I spent 4 days in Berlin prior to the start of the tour - you really need to spend extra days in Berlin as with only 1 whole day in Berlin the tour can only show you a very small amount of what Berlin has to offer. The main reason I chose this tour was because there was an over-night stay in Dresden and also an over-night stay in Rothenburg ob der Tauber. Excellent local guides in all locations. My rating of this tour is not impacted by the Tour Director as I feel the tour delivered as per the brochure.
A quick sample of Germany 5 , SA, Australia, Sep 2018
This was our first tour with Globus and we would definitely consider future tours with them. I'm quite tall and legroom on a coach can be an issue but the Globus coach had plenty of legroom for me and was very comfortable. The tour guide was excellent and everything was well organised. The hotel standard was very good except in Rothenburg where the ...read more hotel had a great location in the middle of the old town but was a bit basic. Nevertheless, if you want the good location, there wasn't any better alternatives and we appreciated the location. The tour pace was quite good, with plenty of free time in stops. For some unknown reason the passengers were 95% American but most were very pleasant and the mix didn't spoil the tour for us.
