“Tuk Tuks, Temples and Elephants”
When we first confirmed our booking for this trip Cosmos sent us a standard form asking about any special needs that we may have. In subsequent correspondence we told them that Rosemary had an issue with her knee and, while walking on the flat was no problem, she did struggle with stairs. From our first contact with our tour guide Perez it was clear that Cosmos had fully briefed him about Rosemary’s needs and he was always on hand to give her and Dianne, another guest with similar problems, every ...read more possible care and assistance. Well done Cosmos and Perez! And a sincere thank you to Perez for his knowledgeable commentary, his ability to manage the day to day problems that always occur on a tour and his concern about Rosemary’s ability to cope with each day’s activities. The bus driver and bus boy were always very helpful assisting Rosemary, and other guests, to get on and off the bus. We thoroughly enjoyed the tour in spite of the sometimes very early starts which were required to beat the sometimes chaotic traffic. The morning spent at the Kanta Elephant sanctuary was undoubtedly a highlight of the trip and the trip to the Saduak floating market was a lot of fun. We saw lots of Buddhist Temples and Buddha Images and were surprised by the variety of architectural styles from traditional stone to gold to the spectacular White temple (Wat Rong Khun) near Chiang Mai. The driving style of the Thai people was quite an eye opener for those of us more used to the comparative discipline displayed by drivers in Australia and the UK. It got particularly exciting when we were on one of the many styles of Tuk Tuks in Thailand or in the front seat of the coach. The taxi from our hotel in Phuket to the airport was particularly scary. I would also like to thank the other 30 guests on the coach for their companionship. They were from Australia, UK, USA and Canada. The majority were over sixty years old and we all bonded well together. It was a bit of shame that for all the Buddhist temples we visited we really did not learn much about the Buddhist religion. Perez did give us some history and background information about Buddha but maybe in the future Cosmos could include a short session, inside a temple, with some Buddhist monks so that we could get a better insight into the teachings of Buddha. The last three nights in Phuket were a welcome opportunity to experience a totally different Thai lifestyle and was a relaxing place to finish our tour.
“ Brilliant family holiday”
This trip to Thailand exceeded expectations in every way! The variety of activities and sights - just amazing. We loved exploring Bangkok's waterways, swimming in beautiful plunge pools in a national park, seeing the famous bridge over the Kwai Rider, ruined temples, incredible buddhas, the elephant sanctuary..... yet there is so much more! This is truly an astounding experience. We highly recommend it! The accommodation is a good standard. Easily 4* by Aussie standards. The overnight trains are ...read more modern, clean and comfortable. Bring an eye mask as the lights stay on all night for safety! You'll be challenged but love the village home stay. Embrace it all - Thai people are very welcoming. We learnt to cook and rose early to give offerings to the local monk. Such special memories! We were pleasantly surprised by how much we enjoyed travelling with other families. We'd never done that before. We enjoyed having other adults to chat to and our kids made new friends (some from overseas). The tour leader was an experienced local. She effortlessly held the group together. Her detailed knowledge of her country was appreciated. She helped all day and evening. "No problem" is her response to everything! We stayed on for 2 more nights in Bangkok for shopping. Have a suit or coat made or wander around the malls. Bangkok is a vibrant modern city alongside crazy tuk tuks and enormous public posters of the King. You'll love it - just go!
“My Tour of Thailand”
Everything ran smoothly. Although I must say from a previous trip my transfer did not come through so I was a little worried about this one even though it said in the documents where and when I would meet the rep. Well I landed in Bangkok and followed the book but no rep to transfer me to the hotel. So I asked around and eventually the rep turned up and I was on my way to the hotel. From then on it worked like clockwork. Our tour guide was fantastic on every level. He had mountains of information. ...read more He never used any notes and he was very pleasant to deal with. The hotels in each city were fairly well located and the included meals were great especially the lunches. The sites were interesting and I learnt a lot about Thailand and it's people. I would recommend Cosmos for this trip and Global Journeys for their pre organising & bookings.
“A taste of Thailand”
This trip provided us with a comprehensive insight into the country its people, its history and the contrast between the Australian and Thai way of life. Mr Perez our guide was very knowledgeable on all aspects of his country and its history and was also a very good organizer and handled all the different visitor needs very well. One suggestion we would make to Cosmos is that they include a visit to see the Elephants in this tour as they have been a big part of life in Thailand all through hist ...read moreory.
