Sydney is sure to impress. You can take in the iconic Sydney Harbour from the water on a relaxing cruise or climb the towering bridge for sweeping views of the city. Choose to kick back on the sands of Bondi Beach, perhaps stroll the bustling inner-city streets, or admire the iconic Opera House silhouetted against a glittering horizon. The best part? Your journey is just beginning. With more than 20 tours from Sydney there will be an itinerary that ticks the boxes for you. Here are some to ideas to consider for your next holiday.

East Coast Explorations

Many tours that start in Sydney wind their way along the east coast showcasing vibrant cities, coastal towns, and stunning shorelines along the way. Enjoy a wine tasting in the Hunter Valley as you head north, visit Cape Byron Lighthouse and enjoy some fish and chips on the beach at Byron Bay, and check out Surfers Paradise on the Gold Coast. If you have a week or less, your exploration of the east coast will likely wrap up here or just north in Brisbane.

If you have a bit more time, choose a tour that continues to the Sunshine Coast where you can catch a show at the Australia Zoo, take a walk along the stunning coastline of Noosa National Park, or enjoy a boat ride through the Noosa Everglades. Head across to Fraser Island to meander the many walking tracks, discover pristine Lake McKenzie, and visit the wreck of S.S. Maheno.

Fraser Island

Keep your eyes peeled for whales breaching off the coast of Hervey Bay between July and October, before concluding your journey amidst the islands of the Whitsundays. Meander the untouched shoreline of Whitehaven Beach, enjoy the buzzing atmosphere of Airlie Beach, snorkel the clear warm waters off Hamilton Island, or simply relax on the soft white sand.

If you are left wanting more, there are tours that carry on up the coast through picturesque Mission Beach and the rolling hills and rugged bushland of the Tablelands. Enjoy the best of Tropical North Queensland with a cruise to the Great Barrier Reef, a visit to the sleepy seaside township of Port Douglas, a ride on the Kuranda Skyrail, or an adventure through the Daintree Rainforest before wrapping up your trip in Cairns.

East Coast Extensions

There are a few tours that give you the opportunity to experience the east coast in depth on a tour from Sydney to Cairns, and then combine another region to get the most out of your time away. Do you have 25 days up your sleeve? If you do, then perhaps consider adding on a discovery of the Red Centre to see some of the most iconic Australian sites before hitting the Top End or traversing diverse landscapes on your way south.

Tour through Coober Pedy, the Flinders Ranges and the Clare Valley wine region on your way to Adelaide. Immerse yourself in the natural beauty and culinary vigour of the area, before winding your way through the Grampians National Park and along the coastline of the Great Ocean Road. Marvel at the striking rock formations of the Twelve Apostles before finishing your tour among the colourful laneways of Melbourne.

Southern Sightseeing

If you want to spend your time close to the city, you can enjoy a short break in Sydney and its surrounds. Enjoy the Hunter Valley or head west into the Blue Mountains to drink in views of the rock formations known as the Three Sisters. Enjoy a ride on the Scenic Railway or visit the Featherdale Wildlife Park before finishing your round trip back in the cosmopolitan capital of Sydney.

Perhaps tour west instead, taking in the southern capitals. Enjoy a tour of Parliament House and be moved at the Australian War Memorial in Canberra. Explore the bustling waterfront precinct and drink in the views atop Eureka Skydeck in Melbourne. Perhaps continue along the Great Ocean Road and on to Adelaide, where a visit to Kangaroo Island is also on the cards.
