We've just returned from the Best of Spain and Portugal trip with Insight Vacations, and were delighted with our holiday! Our guide (Jorge Paulino) was superb, the coach was very comfortable and the driver excellent. The itinerary covered the main sights we wished to see in the two countries, and was excellent for providing an insight into where we'd read more like to return in future. The optional tours were very good in their variety and pricing, and there was no pressure to take up any of them, which we appreciated. Booking through Global Journeys was efficient, easy and highly recommended.
Tour Excellent - Accommodation not as good as I expected 2

Accommodation was not as good as I expected. But the tour was excellent!!!! Some of the optional tours were not necessary. Tour guide was extremely informative of the local culture & entertained us all the way.
For our honeymoon we wanted something special and an Insight Vacations tour for 15 days around Turkey (Treasures of Turkey) was just the thing. We loved the diversity of the group, stayed in comfortable hotels, travelled in a good sized coach with wifi, adjustable seats, USB charging & toilets. Throw in the driver and host and it made for a memorable read more trip. Our booking experience with Global Journeys (all online) was effortless and we will definitely re-book again. New England's Fall Foliage

Sometimes too long spent on lunchtime stops in small towns. Tour guide improved as trip went along, minimal information eg Boston history at first but this improved as we went along. Weather was fantastic so we were very lucky. Greatly enjoyed the trip and the people we met.
I had a good time, but was somewhat disappointed with a couple of the hotels. The Hotel Regina Elena Santa Margherita Ligure had a single bed & did not have the air conditioning operating & we were told to open the windows. My window was a sliding door that was shared with an adjoining room & opening that did not make me feel safe. At the Hotel Ancora read more Cortina I had a very small single bed that was quite high & made me feel as if I was going to fall out. After paying for a single supplement I think that I was entitled to have a room similar in size as to a shared room & this opinion was shared by others on the trip in similar circumstances. I may be a bit judgmental but after my trip last year with Trafalgar to the USA & Canada where the hotels were fantastic some of the accommodation made me feel a bit 2nd class. I do realise that this was Italy and not the USA & that hotels themselves make room allocation, but maybe they could be reminded that travelers do expect something for their single supplement payment. Otherwise the hotel in Rome & Venice were very nice & I very much enjoyed Italy especially the scenery in the Dolomite Mountains they are spectacular.
Our guide Barcin Taran was brilliant and really made the tour because he had such a vast knowledge of the history and life in Turkey. He did all of the local tours, so great was his knowledge which he openly shared with us. The pace was steady with the occasional early start but largely for our benefit to avoid the crowds and give time to not feel read more rushed. This was especially so on the visit to Gallipoli so that the NZ & Australians travellers were able to take their time and not feel rushed in this sensitive area. Grand Italy & Sicily

Our tour director was absolutely wonderful. Nothing was a problem and we where able to tailor the tour to what we wanted. Beautiful sights, wonderful hotels and the most amazing scenery you could imagine. Global journeys where so great to deal with, couldn't fault them at all - thank you Michelle!
Loved the tour but unfortunately leaves were late turning this season. The countryside was still beautiful but if you really want to see the fall foliage I would not book until October. The Insight tour itself was great, we were extremely well looked after and everything was very professional. We were very happy with the accommodations except we probably read more arrived too early at most with not much to do as most properties were out of town. The tour inclusions were excellent, did not have to put our hand in our pocket most days. The whole experience including the booking process with Global Journeys was professional and exceeded expectations.

Thoroughly enjoyable. Jacki Lappen is an excellent tour director... professional, knowledgeable, entertaining and caring. The tour group was amiable (probably took their cue from Jacki) and that made the trip very enjoyable and comfortable from start to end. Autumn was late this year and we did not get to see its full spectacular blaze of glorious read more colours, but the tour group did not seem to mind, and had great fun anyway spotting random bursts of autumnal colours. Dennis, our driver, deserves a mention for his great driving skills and caring customer service.

Wonders of Turkey

It was a last minute decision to visit Spain and it was so easy to compare different tours on the Global Journeys site. Hannah took care of everything and despite our late booking, our documents arrived in good time before our departure. Insight vacations did a great job. Our tour leader was very helpful and knowledgeable and local experts were passionate read more about their city and country. We travelled in September and had great weather and Jorge gave us lots of little treats - or 'flourishes' as he called them - such as custard tarts, pious cake, a visit to somewhere special not on the itinerary etc. we did all the optional tours except the Palace in Madrid and in doing so just about every meal was included. Would highly recommend!

European Grandeur

After self driving the UK for 5 weeks prior to joining the Insight tour, we were ready for a chauffeur driven tour. What a great experience, we never could've found all the places we went to in such a good use of time. The tour guide was excellent, a great group of people from all over the world and some incredible sights. Prior to going we decided read more on a few optional tours, on joining, the tour director explained the different optional tours and we joined all but 2. What a fantastic time we had, the optional tours were incredible with a few surprises and well worth the time and money. As most of the group also joined in the optional tours it helped build a stronger bond between those who previous to the tour were strangers. My wife and I could not speak highly enough of Insight Vacations , the tour director and of course prior to travel the organising by Georgie Walpole of Global Journeys as everything ran smoothly and exactly as planned. I had a great time. Most of the hotels were great. One had no air conditioning which made the room stuffy. Antonio the driver couldn't speak any English but he was the best driver. John G the tour director was the absolute best. I lost my passport in Vienna and he arranged for me to get a emergency one. It only took two hours. Meanwhile the coach had read more to go on without me. I still beat them to Innsbruck. On this tour there should be less time in Italy and more time in Germany as we only had one night there. The only thing I wasn't really happy about was that had no transfers from and to the airport. Emily did a very good job with our booking though.

Glorious Switzerland

We had a wonderful time on our tour. We will definitely go on another Insight Tour. The other travellers were friendly and we made lots of new friends. Our tour director, Stephen Ellison was a wonderful and friendly guide. He made the tour interesting and informative. I highly recommend him as a tour director. The weather was mostly kind to us with read more the odd wet day, but it did not upset the smooth running of the tour. The format of the tour and places we visited were great. The optional excursions also added to the experience on the tour.

We enjoyed our trip to Switzerland, but were disappointed with the number and cost of the optional extras. If we had done all of them on offer, it would have cost us another $2500 on top of the cost of the trip. Such excursions as the Jungfrau we were told that "everyone does this", therefore why not just include it in the itinerary, and not as an read more optional extra? If one didn't partake in these extras, you were left with time on your hands while the others went off - often not in places that had a lot to offer. We also got thoroughly sick of the Insight propaganda - every day there was some sort of Insight leaflet or branded product left on the bus seat, or promotional dvd played as we drove along. And every day we were being told about why Insight was such a good company to travel with. Given that everyone on the tour had travelled with Insight before, it was unnecessary information. The hotels were on the most part very good, and well located - the main exception being in Luzerne. The only other thing I'd say is that some of our contingent found it difficult to cope with the cobblestones and many, many stairs, both in the towns, and stairs in the hotels. But mainly because of the optional extras (and cost of), and I know they're optional, we would think long and hard about another Insight tour, particularly now that there are so many tour companies that include all these costs, plus tipping.
Good bunch of friendly people to travel with. Tour guide was very professional and friendly. Enjoyed the trip immensely. The scenery was beautiful, excursions were worthwhile.

Absolutely loved every bit of this tour. A fabulous taste of Russia, making me want to go back and enjoy more. Thank you Yvonne for all your time and attention, especially over the Russian visa business, I really appreciated it. This is the second time I have travelled with Insight through you, and it was wonderful. St Petersburg is in my heart, and read more Moscow was extremely interesting. I would like to go back and do it all again if it were possible. Once again, thanks a million.
We had a wonderful tour with a very knowledgeable and entertaining tour director. The coach was very roomy and comfortable. It was advertised as having WIFI, but for whatever reason it was unavailable the entire time. All locations were very beautiful and we were lucky enough to take an optional float tour down the Snake River through the Grand Tetons. read more This was a highlight for us. Hotel accommodations and meals that were offered were for the most part excellent. I think the only exception was the Old Faithful Inn. The Inn is very beautiful but is an older inn and the rooms were comfortable but with basic facilities. Each day we had many tour inclusions and the tour director added a few more in when he could. He also made sure that there were plenty of restroom stops. We were exhausted by the end of each day and slept well each night. Both my husband and I agree that if we ever had the opportunity again, we would not hesitate in joining another Insight Tour. Also Michelle at Global Journeys was excellent and very helpful with getting our tickets to us early as we were going to other places on the US before joining our tour. We highly recommend Global Journeys!
