This trip provides a great overview covering from the northern lakes, to Sicily in the south. It was 40 years since my last visit, but the country was even more beautiful than I remembered. We were particularly impressed by the beauty and tranquility of Sicily. The tour group included people from Australia, Canada, US and NZ, and all got along well. read more We had an inspirational tour leader who clearly loved her adopted country of Italy.
It was a good 'taste' of what makes Portugal special, from Fado in Lisbon to Port in Oporto. Also a good 'taste' of local food, from cod to Iberian ham to Portugese tarts and other specialist deserts. Great scenery such as old fortified hill top villages and cork tree groves. Booking through Global Journeys was refreshingly efficient.

This tour was the best! I enjoyed the lovely countryside of France in spring with our wonderful guide, Laura, who kept us all happy and smiling! The hotels were all good with some that were truly special. Optional tours were generally good value and if you just felt like relaxing you could stay near the hotel and do your own thing. Booking with Yvonne read more from Global Journeys was easy using the online system. Yvonne always got back to me right away if I had any questions and I would certainly book any future trips with her as she was very helpful.
Global Journeys were wonderful and I would not hesitate to book with them again. Michelle White was our agent and she could not have been more helpful. The Insight tour was very good and our tour guide Tim Pendellbury was excellent, very organised and took care of all details giving us a worry free time. The main things that we did not like were the read more factory/shop stops and the long days in the bus and very early morning starts ( be prepared to be very tired), however considering the distance that we travelled and countries we visited it is understandable.Some of the hotels that were supposed to be central were definitely not and a few of them were also not of the standard I would have expected from this tour, The insight heritage 33 day tour is a very good way to sample many countries in one trip and despite these issues we thoroughly enjoyed our trip. Our Britain & Ireland Discovery tour with Insight has been the most enjoyable trips we have done so far in our touring experiences. The tour guide with his enlightening stories, the places that were visited, the comfort and extra room of the Insight Coaches. Firstly, booking this wonderful trip through Global Journeys was the best decision my husband and I made, because they were always available, organized, helpful with advice, and offered constant updates on our trip. Additionally, we also received a great discount on that particular trip. Because Global Journeys' portfolio contains many travel companies, read more we will have no problem finding another trip to enjoy, without the worries of making the arrangements ourselves. (GJ: Thanks Penelope!) Our Insight Tour of Country Roads of France was magical, and just what we wanted for our first trip to France. Looking at the brochure, it offered an opportunity to visit a number of smaller cities and towns that would provide an intimate experience of the French way of life and history that is seldom discussed at a relaxed pace. The tour visited a number of places off the beaten track ( Sarlat la Caneda, Rocamadour, a vineyard and dinner in Fixin, Les Baux & Olive Mill and Pont du Gard ), that allowed us to savour the true French country lifestyle. This experience was enhanced by the knowledge and attention to detail of our tour guide, along with the safe driving of our bus driver. This was our second Insight Tour, and we will continue to travel with them.
Hassle free holiday. Booking was straight forward and kept informed throughout process. In the time saw some great sights in both Spain and Portugal. Some long driving days but these were broken up with lunch stops in beautiful villages. Travelling during winter was a bonus as avoided summer crowds. Insight Tours are a very professional company.

Insight was extremely comfortable on the coach, wasn't full with only 23 passengers, good mix of ages. Hotels were really lovely and quite a full on itinerary with mostly early starts. The tour director Daniel was fantastic, as were other guides in the locations. We had a great variety of experiences and we elected to do all the optional tours. Wasn't read more crazy about the food in Spain, found it quite bland. We really loved it.

We've just returned from the Best of Spain and Portugal trip with Insight Vacations, and were delighted with our holiday! Our guide (Jorge Paulino) was superb, the coach was very comfortable and the driver excellent. The itinerary covered the main sights we wished to see in the two countries, and was excellent for providing an insight into where we'd read more like to return in future. The optional tours were very good in their variety and pricing, and there was no pressure to take up any of them, which we appreciated. Booking through Global Journeys was efficient, easy and highly recommended.

Accommodation was not as good as I expected. But the tour was excellent!!!! Some of the optional tours were not necessary. Tour guide was extremely informative of the local culture & entertained us all the way.
For our honeymoon we wanted something special and an Insight Vacations tour for 15 days around Turkey (Treasures of Turkey) was just the thing. We loved the diversity of the group, stayed in comfortable hotels, travelled in a good sized coach with wifi, adjustable seats, USB charging & toilets. Sometimes too long spent on lunchtime stops in small towns. Tour guide improved as trip went along, minimal information eg Boston history at first but this improved as we went along. Weather was fantastic so we were very lucky. Greatly enjoyed the trip and the people we met.
I had a good time, but was somewhat disappointed with a couple of the hotels. The Hotel Regina Elena Santa Margherita Ligure had a single bed & did not have the air conditioning operating & we were told to open the windows. My window was a sliding door that was shared with an adjoining room & opening that did not make me feel safe. At the Hotel Ancora read more Cortina I had a very small single bed that was quite high & made me feel as if I was going to fall out. After paying for a single supplement I think that I was entitled to have a room similar in size as to a shared room & this opinion was shared by others on the trip in similar circumstances. I may be a bit judgmental but after my trip last year with Trafalgar to the USA & Canada where the hotels were fantastic some of the accommodation made me feel a bit 2nd class. I do realise that this was Italy and not the USA & that hotels themselves make room allocation, but maybe they could be reminded that travelers do expect something for their single supplement payment. Otherwise the hotel in Rome & Venice were very nice & I very much enjoyed Italy especially the scenery in the Dolomite Mountains they are spectacular.
Our guide Barcin Taran was brilliant and really made the tour because he had such a vast knowledge of the history and life in Turkey. He did all of the local tours, so great was his knowledge which he openly shared with us. The pace was steady with the occasional early start but largely for our benefit to avoid the crowds and give time to not feel read more rushed. This was especially so on the visit to Gallipoli so that the NZ & Australians travellers were able to take their time and not feel rushed in this sensitive area. Our tour director was absolutely wonderful. Nothing was a problem and we where able to tailor the tour to what we wanted. Beautiful sights, wonderful hotels and the most amazing scenery you could imagine. Global journeys where so great to deal with, couldn't fault them at all - thank you Michelle!
Loved the tour but unfortunately leaves were late turning this season. The countryside was still beautiful but if you really want to see the fall foliage I would not book until October. The Insight tour itself was great, we were extremely well looked after and everything was very professional. We were very happy with the accommodations except we probably read more arrived too early at most with not much to do as most properties were out of town. The tour inclusions were excellent, did not have to put our hand in our pocket most days. The whole experience including the booking process with Global Journeys was professional and exceeded expectations.

Thoroughly enjoyable. Jacki Lappen is an excellent tour director... professional, knowledgeable, entertaining and caring. The tour group was amiable (probably took their cue from Jacki) and that made the trip very enjoyable and comfortable from start to end. Autumn was late this year and we did not get to see its full spectacular blaze of glorious read more colours, but the tour group did not seem to mind, and had great fun anyway spotting random bursts of autumnal colours. Dennis, our driver, deserves a mention for his great driving skills and caring customer service.

It was a last minute decision to visit Spain and it was so easy to compare different tours on the Global Journeys site. Hannah took care of everything and despite our late booking, our documents arrived in good time before our departure. Insight vacations did a great job. Our tour leader was very helpful and knowledgeable and local experts were passionate read more about their city and country. We travelled in September and had great weather and Jorge gave us lots of little treats - or 'flourishes' as he called them - such as custard tarts, pious cake, a visit to somewhere special not on the itinerary etc. we did all the optional tours except the Palace in Madrid and in doing so just about every meal was included. Would highly recommend!

After self driving the UK for 5 weeks prior to joining the Insight tour, we were ready for a chauffeur driven tour. What a great experience, we never could've found all the places we went to in such a good use of time. The tour guide was excellent, a great group of people from all over the world and some incredible sights. Prior to going we decided read more on a few optional tours, on joining, the tour director explained the different optional tours and we joined all but 2. What a fantastic time we had, the optional tours were incredible with a few surprises and well worth the time and money. As most of the group also joined in the optional tours it helped build a stronger bond between those who previous to the tour were strangers. My wife and I could not speak highly enough of Insight Vacations , the tour director and of course prior to travel the organising by Georgie Walpole of Global Journeys as everything ran smoothly and exactly as planned.
