What our clients are saying about touring France, Spain, Portugal and Morocco
“Well organised tour with hidden highlights”
It seemed that every town had a hidden secret. Leonardo lived here, Joan of Arc died there, Jules Verne wrote and lived here. A lovely visit to a private chateau for lunch, surprising revelations on the Normandy beaches, explanations from a great Tour Director. A very enjoyable tour.
“Magic world of Morocco”
What a fantastic trip. Morocco has been one of the best trips we have done. Tremendous scenery, colour, sights, sounds, smells, the people and the culture all made for a wonderful trip. Our riad accommodation was generally very good, and the overnight stay in the desert camp was a first class experience. Everything worked like clockwork. Our Tour Leader, Samir, was absolutely fantastic - a wealth of knowledge, very personable, catered for each individual's needs, organised the tour guides to perfection ...read more and if anything was not up to scratch with local arrangements, food, etc, he did not hesitate to step in and make sure it was corrected. Full marks Samir, an absolute treasure. Global Journeys handled the changes to trip details, hotels, and travel arrangements very expertly. I have absolute confidence in recommending them to fellow travellers - well done Jemma, top marks for you too. The extension to Essaouira was magnificent and is highly recommended to all fellow travellers - don't miss this lovely seaside fishing village.
“Very enjoyable small group tour of Portugal”
The trip was well worth it. The itinerary was well balanced with plenty of time for walking to/around attractions and points of interest. Our Tour Leader, Isabel, did a great job in handling all the tour arrangements and had excellent knowledge of Portugal to pass on. The group members all got on very well, for a very enjoyable trip. The only slight negatives are: 1) the length of time we had to stand around waiting for our coach to get back to our pick-up point due to the strict parking and pick-up ...read more arrangements placed on all tour buses and cars. Sometimes this took up to 30 minutes before we could be picked up; and 2) too much time was spent at Sintra's Pena Palace and Gardens, this provided little interest to most tour members - we would have preferred to spend additional time walking in the small town of Sintra, much more interesting.
“Tour of Portugal even better second time around ”
I did a comprehensive tour of Portugal over a decade ago and thought it was time to revisit this beautiful country. I have travelled with Insight Vacations more than a dozen times, so choosing a tour operator was easy. Although the itinerary was similar to the previous tour, this time there were new inclusions and a broader cultural focus, both of which made a difference. For example, in each region we tasted local delicacies: pastel de nata in Lisbon, doce fino in Algarve, ginjinha in Obidos, ...read more pastel de Tentugal in Coimbra, tibia in Braga, etc. etc. These are small touches, but were appreciated by all, since they and the stories behind them are all threads in the tapestry that is Portugal. Accommodation was comfortable and very close to city centres and historic sites. Included food was excellent, particularly in the local restaurants Frade dos mares in Lisbon, Sem-Fim in Monsaraz, farm-to-table dinner in Quinta de Maroccos in Peso da Regua... Both included and optional excursions were excellent and were a real value-add to an already great choice of locations and sightseeing. The local guides were superb - they were passionate about their cities, knowledgeable and entertaining. The tour director and the driver were great too: professional and attentive. The former was friendly, personable, well organised, able to quickly solve problems and displayed excellent attention to detail. Overall, the tour was very well organised. If anything, I think it should be a bit longer- additional two days would have allowed for some more time to be spent in locations worthy of more exploration. My only criticism would be the stay in Almancil. While the stroll on the beach was nice, there really wasn't anything else to do in the afternoon/evening. Perhaps a different location for an overnight should be considered? Apart from that, the tour was a thoroughly enjoyable experience and I would recommend it to anyone who has an interest in gaining a deeper insight into Portugal. On a separate note - this was the first time I've booked a tour with Global Journeys, an agency I came across accidentally while doing an online search. At first I was a little sceptical and concerned about whether I'd made the right choice of an agent. I must say that I was pleasantly surprised. Global Journeys provided service of a high standard: communication was timely, responses to questions prompt, information accurate. I have already recommended them to friends and would use them again myself.
