Itinerary

Your tour departs from your hotel at 2:00 PM for a panoramic tour of this dynamic, friendly city with its wealth of Victorian architecture and modern culture. Drive around George Square and see its collection of monuments to famous Scots. Visit Kelvingrove Art Gallery and Museum, a splendid, Spanish Baroque-style building housing one of Europe's finest art collections, including masterpieces by Rembrandt, Titian, and Dali. Enjoy a welcome drink and dinner with your group. (D)

Depart for the scenic Highlands, driving alongside Loch Lomond, resplendent with lush islands, then across Rannoch Moor and through Glencoe – seeing mountains, moors and waterfalls along the way. Stop at Fort Augustus for a cruise on Loch Ness, famed for its beauty as well as the legendary monster. Continue to your elegant manor house hotel in Nairn. (B/D)

Visit the historic Blair Athol Distillery to discover the art of whisky making and sample a dram. Continue to St Andrews, the “Home of Golf”; take a panoramic drive, then explore the old city independently.

Continue on to your gracious manor house hotel outside Edinburgh, set on 1,000 acres of picturesque grounds. Explore and dine independently this evening. (B)

Take a panoramic tour of Edinburgh to see the main sights, from bustling Princes Street to the wide streets of the 200-year-old Georgian “New Town.” Walk along the Royal Mile, where compact medieval houses reach several stories tall. Visit Edinburgh Castle, perched high above the city on volcanic rock, and home to the Scottish Crown Jewels. You'll have free time to explore in the afternoon, then experience a lively Scottish evening with dinner and traditional entertainment. Fun fun fun. Our tour bus driver, Andrew and partner Joe, were absolutely amazing. They both were very knowledgeable, professional, and considerate of all the passenger needs and wants. This was my second trip with CIE Tours. If I could request Andrew on future trips I would. I just can't say enough about him. He's the best AND an excellent driver. He sure can manoeuvre a bus.

CIE can pack more information/destinations/memories in a few short days than what should be possible. They pick the cream of the crop for their tour guides and drivers. Annika (guide) and Eammon (driver) made the entire trip fun and interesting. Without them the trip wouldn't have been half as magical. I was so sad not to continue to Ireland with the read more rest of the group that I booked a CIE Ireland trip for next year. No matter what your age, or if youÆre travelling alone or with a group of family and friends, you'll have a once in a lifetime experience travelling to any destination with CIE.

Tour guide, Christiane is wicked funny, knowledgeable, and a joy. Seamus is a competent driver- careful, courteous, and safe. Seamus and Christiane play off one another in a very enjoyable manner. They make a wonderful team.

If the open air bus (sightseeing) tour is to be a part of the package for a Taste of Scotland, CIE should provide transportation to and from Edinburgh City for delivery to Waverly Station and pick-up from the station. Otherwise, the tour was outstanding and well-done. We were very pleased with the package and the price for all we received was outstanding as well.
