Itinerary

Depart Sydney hotel at 9.30am and travel to Bowral, a heritage town and gourmet getaway in the Southern Highlands. On the way, visit the Australian Botanic Garden, Mount Annan, which boasts over 400 hectares of natural woodland and stunning gardens. As the Australian native planet garden of the Royal Botanic Gardens, Sydney, it is also home to the Connections Garden, regarded as the premier garden in the state. Afterwards, visit the private garden Greenbrier Park. Enjoy a Welcome Dinner this evening. Stay Two Nights: Bowral, Gibraltar Hotel or similar (D)

Start the day by visiting a private garden. Then explore Retford Park, owned by the Fairfax family for over 50 years, who played host to notable visitors including members of the British and European royal families. This afternoon, enjoy Bowral's Tulip Festival, an annual event of spring blooms. We finish the day with a visit to the beautiful Chinoiseire Garden. (B/D)

Arrive into Canberra and visit Floriade, the city's annual flower and entertainment festival, held in Canberra's Commonwealth Park. A highlight is the extensive displays of flowering bulbs and sculptures shown here. Continue on to enjoy a sightseeing tour of Canberra, which also includes spectacular views from atop of Mt Ainslie. Stay Three Nights: Canberra, Novotel Hotel or similar (B/D)

Today we travel south to the Monaro High Country, where we view stunning private gardens situated on historic merino sheep and cattle stations. The homes and gardens have been held in the families for generations, and some have been informed by the artistry of leading Australian architects and landscapers from Professor Leslie Wilkinson to Claud Crowe and Paul Bangay. Meet the owners and enjoy a delicious home-cooked lunch. (B/L/D)

This morning, visit Tulip Top private garden, home to one of the best bulb displays in Australia. Afterwards, take a tour of the National Arboretum, one of the world's largest living collections of rare trees. This afternoon, you have the option to visit the Australian War Memorial, the National Gallery of Australia, or to take a tour of new Parliament House. (B)

Travel to Oberon and visit Mayfield Garden, the largest privately owned cool-climate garden in Australia. Spanning 16 hectares, the garden has an array of features to discover, including the Water Garden with its Impressionist-influenced water lilies, and one of the largest collections of Maple trees and shrubs in Australia. After visiting another of the area's private gardens, we arrive in Leura, in the Blue Mountains. Stay Two Nights: Leura, Fairmont Resort or similar (B/L/D)

Today you will enjoy the beauty of the Blue Mountain region with a stop in Blackheath. Here, take the opportunity to stroll around a private garden. Afterwards, walk through Mt Tomah Botanic Gardens with its vast collection of cool-climate plants from around the world. Equally stunning are the sweeping views across the World Heritage-listed Greater Blue Mountains area. Later continue on to the private cool-climate garden of Nooroo. Enjoy a Farewell Dinner this evening. (B/D)

Today, visit a private garden in the morning, before stopping to admire the beauty of the Three Sisters, the famous Blue Mountains rock formation found on the north escarpment of Jamison Valley. Spend some time in the enchanting village of Leura, before exploring another private garden on your way back to Sydney. Arrive back at your Sydney hotel at approximately 6pm for your onward journey. (B)
