Did you know Tasmania is home to the oldest operating brewery in Australia?

At the foot of Hobart’s Mount Wellington, you will find the Cascade Brewing Company. They have been brewing beers since 1824. Their oldest beer, Cascade Pale Ale, had its beginnings in the 1830’s making it the longest continuously brewed beer in Australia.

Some of our Tasmanian tours visit the Cascade Brewery, a quintessential Hobart experience. The perfectly maintained Gothic façade of the original brewhouse and three acres of heritage gardens are a feature of the Hobart landscape and enjoy uninterrupted views of Mount Wellington.

Step behind the historic sandstone walls for a guided tour of the brewery. See the brewery in its daily operations and learn about the ingredients that go into Tasmania’s finest beers and stouts. Learn about Mercury Cider, made from Tasmania’s apples. Back in the bar, sample chilled brews and ciders.

What’s the secret of Australia’s oldest beer? You cant go past Tasmania’s pure water straight from Mount Wellington and the island’s flavoursome hops and barley.
