Ignite your Northern Territory Tour with the Field of Light

As the sun dips below the horizon and the long shadows of Uluru fade into darkness, 50,000 bulbs light up across the desert. The stunning outdoor art installation, spanning more than seven football fields in size, is comprised of illuminated blooms perched upon elegant stems, creating a patchwork of colour across the baked earth.

Conceptualised and designed by British artist Bruce Munro, the display is titled Tili Wiru Tjuta Nyakutjaku which means ‘looking at lots of beautiful lights’ in local Pitjantjatjara. His largest work of its kind, Mr Munro visualised the creation back in 1992 when he visited Uluru after living in Australia for eight years. His vision is now a reality and at this stage the exhibit can be viewed until 31 December 2020.
