Christmas Markets of Austria, Germany and Switzerland Reviews

Great experience, travelling through Austria, Germany and Switzerland in winter. Important to pack for the cold temperatures of -11 degrees C. Global Journeys are our preferred travel agent.

This tour was our first with Trafalgar. We were very happy with our guide Colette and the way she ran the tour. Super organised and fun. Absolutely no complaints about accommodation or time spent on the coach. My only comment would be that this is definitely a case of getting what you asked for. Every day several markets were visited and in my opinion ...read more they were all rather similar; different towns but same vibe and stock. Also unfortunately a high proportion of mass produced items that were most definitely not locally made. After the first 2 or 3 days I was all "market-ed out". I would have preferred to have more time spent exploring the wonderful towns/cities that we visited. But that is purely my opinion. The markets were extremely picturesque and the setting sublime. Perhaps just not a good fit for me. I have rated this tour as excellent as it ticks all the boxes for the true Christmas fan.

I would not hesitate to book through Global Journeys again. It was easy and stress free. Our tour was great. Our guide Agnes was wonderful, and nothing was too much trouble for her. The markets were amazing, ...read more even the shops joined in with the decorations. One thing to be aware of, not all of the Christmas markets were open. One in Munich opened the day we arrived, and Lucerne did not open until December 5th, so we missed that one. Overall, a lovely tour.

Ulf was an excellent tour director. Overall good value for money. Loved the markets in Vienna. We were very lucky with weather, enough snow to be picturesque without impacting on travel. Some fun fellow travellers.

A well organised tour with excellent information provided by our guide Arne. A good selection of markets presented to us and there was something in the markets for everyone, be it hot food and drinks or any one of a thousand Christmas mementos or ornaments. The Xmas Markets tour was very enjoyable and our Tour Director and coach driver were both excellent. Loved the cold weather! Best places for us were Castle Neuschwenstein and Omeramagau followed closely by Mt Pilatus and the horse and cart ride to the Swiss farm. Many thanks also to Yvonne Brooks who made it all possible.
