As this was our first ever guided tour we were uncertain what to expect. There was a lot to commend plus some to suggest a change to. The whole trip was very worth while but my wife & I found the constant church visits very trying. Neither of us are religious and although we found the various murals, fresco's and mosaics wonderful, we found that the ...read more religious descriptions far too detailed. After about 5-6 church visits we cried enough and opted out. on occasions we were joined by other clients who also felt that they had enough too. After all just how many murals and fresco's etc do we need to see? (One of our party was a Hindu so you can imagine how interested she was)

Overall we are glad we went. Although we had visited Italy on day trips from both Austria and Switzerland this was the first time we had actually stayed in the country. This trip enabled us to see so much of the towns and cities we visited we could not have done it alone. The quality of both the tour director and the various guides was fantastic. One thing this tour has confirmed for us is that we much prefer independent travel.
