Globus trip with 32 passengers-which was a good thing. Space to spread out on the tour bus. Enthsiastic and knowledgeable tour director and equally so driver. Itinerary was great and 2 night stops perfect. We felt however that many of the extras once offered with globus are not there any more. Water eg not provided and hotels now offer minimal starter read more kits and nasty disposable "dishes" in rooms. Tour meals included were quite basic affairs and did not provide alcoholic drinks as was once the norm...we've been spoilt in the past obviously on tour, particularly with quite special dinners in external restaurants. Dinner being the focus to socialise with fellow travellers rather than rushed meals with guest speakers and home by 7pm!
We had a truly wonderful time on the Globus Ultimate Alaska & Yukon tour. The landscapes were breathtaking, and the remoteness only added to the authenticity of the experience—it’s exactly what you’d hope for when exploring such untouched parts of the world. Our guide, Kip, was absolutely fantastic—knowledgeable, approachable, and passionate about the read more region. The bus driver also did a great job, making long stretches of travel feel comfortable and safe.

Firstly the coach tour was sensational with many thanks to our exceptional tour guide Wade and our coach driver Maurice. Wade provided a great insight into Alaska past and present and was very knowledgable and very well organised as well as being a friend. Maurice's driving kept everyone so calm and he to had the coach very clean and was always there read more for us if we needed and answer or guidance. The places we saw visited and the things we saw were truly amazing and Wade's suggestion to fly by light plane around Mt Denali was one highlight for us as were the Glaciers, wildlife, accommodation and people. The boat cruise with Holland America Nieuw Amsterdam was relatively smooth sailing and everything was catered for onboard. The towns and places we visited were interesting including the glaciers again and the wildlife, scenery, entertainment, food, drinks.

Globus truly gave us The Spectacular Alaska Experience. Our tour director, Todd and driver, were friendly and accommodating. Both were knowledgeable providing information and history on the areas as we traveled in the motor coach. The accommodations were comfortable, and it was good having on site dining options, as on some evenings we got to our rooms read more quite late. Not that you realised as it was still light through to 11pm at least! The arranged excursions were all great and gave us the experiences we were after.
Our viewing of wildlife was not as frequent as we had hoped. It is just luck being in the right place at the right time. We did see Moose, Caribou, sealions and sea otters. (Take your binoculars). Our highlight was on the last day on a cruise into the Kenai Fjord where we witnessed a group of humpback whales bubble feeding on a shoal of fish. Truly amazing. If considering this tour, or any trip to Alaska, their sunny days are rare with most days cloudy and/or wet. This can mean the mountains are not visible at times and you need more warmer clothes than true summer ones.

Alaska's Iditarod with Fairbanks

What a wonderful tour our Globus' Iditarod with Fairbanks extension was. Highlights were seeing the Northern Lights on the first night of the tour - an amazing sight to behold; holding on for dear life on a dog sled ride and catching the snow train from Fairbanks to Talkeetna. The clearest views of Denali I have ever seen. Finally we got to see the read more start of the Iditarod dog sled race and the running of the reindeer in Anchorage. Nick our tour director and Maurice our coach driver went out of their way to make the trip memorable. If you want a winter trip with a bit of everything, then this is the trip for you.

What is the best time to visit Alaska?
The primary tourist season in Alaska runs from May to September with peak season being June to August. The weather in Alaska can be unpredictable but by mid-June, all summer activities are open and available. The cruise season operates over the same months. Mid-June to mid-July is considered to be the height of summer and so demand and prices will be higher then too. More competitive pricing may be found in early May at the beginning of the season and towards the end, in late September.
