Itinerary

Start your Scottish adventure in Glasgow, Scotland's cultural hub known for its Victorian and art nouveau architecture. Visit the National Piping Centre for a demonstration and lesson with a renowned piper – then it's your chance to give it a go! After you've worked up an appetite, join your fellow travelers for a lively welcome dinner at the Centre's farm-to-table restaurant. (D) Stay: Hilton Glasgow

Discover for yourself why Highland malt whisky is among the world's finest at a renowned local distillery. Then, make your way into the famed Highlands, taking in an ever-changing tapestry of color as you pass through Glencoe and Rannoch Moor. Join a ranger for a guided walk through the scenic valley of Glencoe and learn about its rich history and diverse nature. Settle into your loch-side hotel for a 2-night stay. (B/D) Stay: The Whispering Pine Lodge, Loch Lochy (2 Nights)

Nature is on full display as you travel through the Great Glen, a stunning and desolate landscape and of ancient mountains and serene lochs. Explore the ruins of Urquhart Castle before setting sail on Loch Ness, one of Scotland's most scenic bodies of water. Keep your eyes open — you never know when the mythic Nessie will appear! This afternoon, visit Culloden Battlefield, where in April 1746, a forty-minute battle changed the course of Scotland's history. (B)

Grab your windbreaker and sense of adventure – it's time to explore the captivating Orkney Islands. Ferry to this former Viking stronghold off the northernmost coast of Scotland, where ancient relics of the past remain very much alive and the weather-worn cliffs beg for a longer view. On the crossing, feel the wind in your hair as you view the abundant bird life and, if you are lucky, porpoises and seals. This evening, join your Tour Manager at your hotel to hear exciting stories about the lore and mysticism of these historic islands. (B/D) Stay: Ayre Hotel (2 Nights)

Join a local guide and step back in time as you explore the Orkney Islands. Discover the Ring of Brodgar, a mysterious prehistoric stone circle built over 5,000 years ago. Stop by a local brewery to sample some hand-crafted ales before continuing on to the Neolithic village of Skara Brae. Inhabited before the Great Pyramids at Giza and predating Stonehenge, discover one of Europe's most fascinating histories. Tonight, enjoy an evening at leisure. (B)

Ferry back to the Scottish mainland and embark on a scenic drive along Scotland's east coast. Stop at the majestic Dunrobin Castle overlooking the North Sea. Discover the fine art and the lush gardens of this French-inspired ‘Highland Retreat,' dating back to the 1300s. End your day in Inverness, the capital of the Highlands, where you'll enjoy an overnight stay and dinner at a local restaurant. (B/D) Stay: Best Western Palace Hotel

Start your day at a family-run farm set in the heart of the Highlands. See sheepdogs at work while surrounded by the mountain wilderness of Cairngorms National Park. Continue on to Dunkeld, one of Scotland's most charming, historic and best-preserved towns. This afternoon, arrive in the capital city of Edinburgh. (B) Stay: VOCO Hotel (2 Nights)

Begin your morning with a visit to Edinburgh Castle, home of the Scottish Crown Jewels. Then, experience an impact moment and get a local's perspective with a guide from Invisible Cities - a social enterprise that trains people affected by homelessness to become tour guides of their own city.

After your tour, visit the Palace at Holyroodhouse, the Queen's official residence in Edinburgh and former home of Mary, Queen of Scots. This evening, enjoy an interactive cooking experience at one of Scotland's premier culinary institutions. With a “wee dram” in hand, toast the end of your Scottish adventure. (B/D)

Your tour of Scotland comes to a close today. (B)
