Welcome to Strasbourg! In the afternoon, your elegantly decorated AMADEUS ship is ready to greet you. Take your time exploring your floating hotel before the onboard team invites you to a festive welcome cocktail, setting the tone for your Rhine adventure. Later, our chef presents a carefully curated welcome dinner, marking the beginning of your magical pre-Christmas journey.
Magic in the Alsatian Winter City
Today is all about Strasbourg, yet the surrounding countryside also beckons. In the morning, you may choose to take a scenic excursion through the wintery Alsace region to the charming town of Obernai, soaking in the enchanting landscapes of southern France.
In the afternoon, explore Strasbourg itself: Wander along streets lined with festively adorned façades and twinkling lights, and let the city's historic charm in the heart of Europe captivate you. A visit to the renowned Christmas market is, of course, included. Relish the romantic atmosphere before returning to your ship, which will set sail for Germany after dinner.
Heidelberg & Speyer Christmas Market
Early in the morning, your ship arrives in Speyer, once one of the most significant cities of the Holy Roman Empire. From here, a visit to the historic city of Heidelberg is a must: Stroll through the old town, explore its sights, and don't miss the romantic Christmas market, where mulled wine, gingerbread, and local crafts bring the Advent season to life. After lunch, continue the festive spirit with a leisurely walk through Speyer, discovering the charming Christmas market. By evening, your ship resumes its journey downstream to Rüdesheim.
Lorelei & Rüdesheim
Rüdesheim welcomes you early in the morning. After a hearty breakfast, embark on a short ride with the Winzerexpress and begin your tour of this picturesque town. In its historic center, the world-famous Drosselgasse, with its traditional wine taverns and unique charm, awaits your exploration. Discover the Adler Tower and sections of the 15th-century city walls and fortifications before returning to the ship for lunch.
As you sail toward Koblenz, enjoy one of the most scenic stretches of your journey – the dreamy Middle Rhine Valley with its legendary Loreley rock, steeped in folklore. In the afternoon, arrive in Koblenz and explore the romantic old town on a guided walk. In the evening, savor a festive gala dinner on board, followed by a lively waltz dance class. Later that night, the ship departs Koblenz as the wintery Rhine landscape glides past.
Disembarkation after breakfast
Your journey concludes in Cologne, arriving in the early morning. Enjoy a leisurely final breakfast before disembarkation, with the crew on hand to assist. On behalf of the entire AMADEUS team, we wish you a safe journey home and a joyful, peaceful holiday season with your loved ones!
