Your tour departs from central London at 9am. Travelling west we reach the medieval cathedral city of Salisbury. After time at leisure for lunch, we visit the remarkable megaliths of Stonehenge, situated on the Salisbury Plain.

This afternoon we also make a short stop at the graveyard at Sutton Veny's St John the Evangelist church to pay our respects to the ANZAC soldiers and five Australian nurses buried here in 1918.

Later, we continue to Bristol where we stay for the next four nights in the very heart of town. Dinner tonight is included, but first enjoy a welcome drink. (D) Stay: Clayton Hotel Bristol City, United Kingdom

Our day will be spent exploring the port city of Bristol. Located on the River Avon, Bristol has a rich maritime history dating back to pre-Norman times. In the 17th and 18th centuries Bristol was a major port for goods coming in from the colonies, and the city prospered. To bring alive this fascinating trading city we have included a private boat tour guiding us through Bristol's Historic harbour.

Later we have included entrance to the historic dockyard museums where you will step back in history boarding and exploring the magnificent SS Great Britain. Dating back to 1843, this was the first of the world's great Ocean liners. Designed by the great Victorian engineer, Isambard Kingdom Brunel, for the Great Western Steamship Company's transatlantic service between Bristol and New York City, the decks above and below are beautifully preserved.

The rest of your day is at leisure and there's plenty to see and do. Your evening is at leisure so make sure you visit the harbour's 19th-century warehouses which now contain restaurants, cafes and bars. (B) Stay: Clayton Hotel Bristol City, United Kingdom

A Taste Of The UK 3 , WA, Australia, Aug 2018
Global Journeys again did their work very efficiently and without flaw....thanks Hannah.

We had a very enjoyable trip with Derek, the quintessential Englishman, as our guide and Joe the best fun driver one could ask for. Went to Wales day one which was a bit 'nothingy' but after that we hit the major tourist hot spots of England and Scotland (including read more the brilliant Military Tattoo in Scotland). A full Australian team of 28 on the bus but it was a 50 seater so stacks of room.

Albatross has got it right with generally 3 night hotel stays and some clear leisure time interspersed through the trip. Having a number of nights free for dinner is also a winner. Highlights were aplenty culminating in the final night state room stay at the Leeds Castle. As a first trip to the UK this was ideal and recommended for say the 50 years plus set.
Great first trip to the UK 2 , VIC, Australia, Jul 2017
A very well organised small group tour of Britain and Scotland. Multiple days stays gave it a more relaxed feel than your typical coach tour. Quality historical accommodation added to the enjoyment of the trip with the highlight being a final night stay in a State Room at Leeds Castle. With only 26 people in a 48 seater coach there was plenty of space read more to stretch out and getting on and off was quick and easy.
Breakfast at Leeds Castle 1 , NSW, Australia, Jul 2016
Our third trip with Albatross and again we were very happy with the organisation of the trip and everyone on our bus got on very well.
We would definitely travel with Albatross again! 1 , Australia, May 2013
Overall an excellent tour, a few places we could have had more time in, namely Bath and a bit rushed in the Cotswolds too. Our only disappointment was the accommodation at The Hilton Dunblayne - we felt the rooms were not up to standard. The smaller group was an advantage too (20 only). We would definitely travel with Albatross again! (Ed. This itinerary read more has been renamed & amended for 2015 departures.)
Overall a well organized trip 1 , Australia, May 2013
Overall a well organized trip, plenty of extended stays in different places, which is why we chose this tour. The only comment would be for a longer time in Bath, but really would recommend this tour to others. Our last night in Leeds Castle was a highlight. (Ed. This itinerary has been renamed & amended for 2015 departures.)
