Itinerary

Depart Darwin and travel along the Arnhem Highway, their major river systems and wetlands, into Kakadu National Park. Located 257 kilometres east of Darwin, this national park covers 20,000 square kilometres of landscape from rocky escarpment home to historic Aboriginal rock art dating thousands of years, to floodplains abundant with wildlife. Visit the Warradjan Cultural Centre to view the informative displays depicting the traditions of the Aboriginal people in Kakadu. Join your local guide on a cruise of Yellow Water Billabong. Search for saltwater crocodiles and the colourful range of birdlife for which this region is renowned.

After lunch, stop at Burrungkuy (Nourlangie), where your Driver Guide will lead you on a walk to view the rock art galleries. There is the opportunity for an optional 50-minute scenic flight (own expense).

Accommodation: Mercure Kakadu Crocodile Hotel
Included Meals: Lunch

This morning join your Driver Guide to explore the World Heritage area of Ubirr, where you'll climb up through the ancient Aboriginal rock art galleries, believed to be 20,000 years old, to the lookout for a view over the surrounding wetlands. Join the Guluyambi Cruise on the East Alligator River. An Aboriginal guide will provide an insight into their culture, including local mythology, the river's abundant food chain, as well as bush survival skills.

With special permission of the local people, you can go ashore in Arnhem Land. Visit the Marrawuddi Art Gallery before returning to Darwin, where your short break concludes.

Great 2 day Trip of Kakadu & East Alligator River 1 , QLD, Australia, Nov 2020
Great 2 day Trip with AAT Kings, only 18 of us on the tour, the coach held 58 people, so plenty of space to move around. Our Driver/Guide Michael was very knowledgeable & able to answer all questions that were given to him.

On day 1, we had a busy day, we saw quite a few crocodiles & plenty of bird life over the 2 days on the river cruises, we then read more went to Cooinda Hotel for lunch we are staying at the Mercure Crocodile Hotel Jabiru, tonight, it was good, the hotel needs some work to bring it back to 5*. Prices were fair for drinks & food for the location.

Day 2, was a trip to Ubirr Rock to see the famous Rock Art & then another cruise on the East Alligator River, more croc's & Bird life. Then back to the Hotel for lunch, which was included both days consisted of Cold Meat & Salad, Tea/Coffee. Then the trip back to Darwin, we were dropped back at the hotel at 6.30 pm. Great 2 day trip!
Kakadu 2 Day Tour 3 , UK, United Kingdom, Apr 2019
We recently did the two-day AAT Kings trip to Kakadu. It was absolutely brilliant. Our guides were so knowledgeable, providing a great understanding of the park, the history and the present day. Highly recommended.
Great trip to Darwin and Kakadu 1 , NSW, Australia, Jul 2018
An extremely memorable trip to a part of Australia everyone should visit. We especially enjoyed the guides at Kakadu and thought they made the trip particularly memorable.
Kakadu 2 day trip 1 , NSW, Australia, Aug 2017
As it was our first time to Kakadu we found it to be very enjoyable, covering all aspects that was of interest in that part of the country, our first day lunch time was cut a bit short but I understand the distance that had to be travelled. Overall a most enjoyable trip.
The tour exceeded my expectations 1 , Canada, Nov 2009
The tour exceeded my expectations. These landscapes are fascinating and the tour provided excellent scope for visiting them in a short time. The driver was knowledgeable and articulate and shared a wide range of information - at what seemed to me just the right range and level of detail - from the time the tour set out from Darwin. This enriched the read more experience of the tour substantially. The tour was well-paced, although I could have had less time on the billabong to permit more time at the very interesting Warradjan Aboriginal Cultural Centre. The day in Arnhem Land was excellent. The range of places visited and the features explained gave exceptional insight into this country. The tour leader, although not a local Aboriginal, was skilled, knowledgeable and responsive to the participants and handled unexpected road and smoke conditions adeptly. The meals provided and the accommodations chosen worked well.
