“Untamed Pilbara and West Coast”
- WA, Australia Jun 2021

A great way to see the diversity of Western Australia from the red dust in the Pilbara to the pristine blue waters of the Indian Ocean. While some early starts and long days are a necessity the coach was very comfortable, cleaned daily and sanitised regularly. Be prepared for cold nights and some windy days at this time of the year. If you want to see wildflowers I would suggest taking this trip in late August/September. Global Journeys took the hassle out of organising this trip. Everything went smoothly and a thanks to Georgie for her help.

“Kata Tjuta, Uluru & Kings Canyon”
- WA, Australia May 2021

First time to join ATT King tour to Uluru which is different than normal group tour. The tour has different groups join in. They cancelled the Kata Tjuta Sunset in the first day is good, because the second day Sunset tour is the same thing! BBQ dinner was super! 4 days break is good enough. Spent a lot of time travel from Alice Spring to Uluru.

“Great Introduction to the Top End”
- QLD, Australia May 2021

First time touring with AAT Kings but we'd travelled previously with associated companies Trafalgar and Insight Vacations. The top end scenery was great and we saw and did what we expected: swimming in waterfalls, Katherine Gorge cruise, Kakadu cruise, saw fresh and saltwater crocodiles, lots of birdlife and Aboriginal art on sandstone cliffs. The colours in this area are so vibrant! Accommodation was good, everything worked but don't expect anything flash. Included food was ok. The Tour Director told us at the tour meeting at the start that there were limited food options available due to lack of hospitality staff, we had to buy sandwiches for lunch every day as that was all that was available. There was only 1 optional and we didn't do that. A full bus of Aussies - all states except Tassie represented and all travellers were on time. Excellent Tour Director - Liz, she shared her extensive knowledge of flora and fauna as well as the local history. Thoroughly enjoyable tour.

“Top End Highlights of NT”
- VIC, Australia May 2021

A great tour organised by AAT Kings of the Top End Highlights. The tour director Liz and Driver Mark were exceptional and were always available and nothing was a problem. They made sure everyone had plenty of water as it was quite hot. We ended up seeing what we wanted to see, and when we had to isolate we were not forgotten. This is the third time we have organised trips with Global Journeys and would not hesitate to book again.

“Kimberley Highlights”
- QLD, Australia May 2021

Comfortable trip - accommodation and food excellent (had to stop eating breakfasts) - tour director (Cam) and driver (John) were first class always on hand to help the tourists. Highlights were the day trip to the Bungle Bungles and the fast cruise with the crazy Alaskan chick. We probably expected a slightly more adventurous trip a la Gibb River road but still very enjoyable. All the passengers got on well which is important with a trip like this.

“AAT Kings Outback Safari”
- VIC, Australia May 2021 View Photo

I thoroughly enjoyed the tour. Probably the only positive thing out of Covid and the fact that I couldn’t travel overseas. It’s quite a full on itinerary but that’s understandable and a couple of long days on the road but that can’t be helped because of the distance that needed to be travelled.

Overall the accommodation was very good except for a couple of a small motels in the smaller towns but I accept that there were no other options in said towns. They were clean and had everything in them. Would highly recommend the Uluru Field of Lights and Kakadu flight optional tours.

“Kakadu & Arnhem land explorer”
- SA, Australia May 2021 View Photo

Malcom was one of the best coach drivers/ tour leaders we have had the pleasure of meeting. His sense of humor was infectious as he laughed at most his own jokes and his knowledge of the area was outstanding. Debbie coach drivers/ tour leader was also happy and friendly with excellent communication skills which made us happy and relaxed. The Arnhem land explorer (4WD) was a highlight of the tour and although a little bumpy in stages was well worth the drive to see such a vast and beautiful part of Australia.

“Outback Adventure”
- NSW, Australia Apr 2021

Great trip but very fast paced. A lot of early morning starts, but necessary because of distances travelled. Excellent driver and tour leader. A few hiccups because of continuing Covid problems, such as venues being closed when supposed to be open, bad service due to lack of staff. Unavoidable, but dealt with very well by tour leader, who together with driver were an unbeatable team, dealing with problems professionally and with good humour.

Yes, AAT Kings have one of the newest coach fleets in Australia & New Zealand. Our fully air-conditioned coaches are equipped with modern features like reclining seats with seat belts and footrests, panoramic windows, an on-board restroom, and state-of-the-art technology including DVD player, GPS and PA systems. All AAT Kings itineraries include scheduled and regular rest breaks. Most of our coaches are also equipped with phone chargers and free WiFi to keep you in touch with the outside world.

What does it mean if I book on a non Guaranteed Departure?

AAT Kings have designated certain departures as Guaranteed Departures, which means they have reached minimum passenger numbers and will definitely run as scheduled. Global Journeys continue to add Guaranteed Departure status to tours online as they achieve minimum numbers. If you book on a non Guaranteed Departure AAT Kings will determine if the tour will operate no later than 6 weeks prior to departure. If the tour is withdrawn we will work to offer you a suitable alternative. If you aren't happy with the options offered any money paid on your booking will be refunded.

What documentation will I receive?

This depends on the touring style you are booking. Short Break bookings will receive e-documentation. If you are booking an AAT Kings guided holiday (First Choice, Best Buys or Inspiring Journey) you will receive a travel wallet and luggage tag. Plus, we'll give you a map of Australia or New Zealand to follow your journey as a memento of your holiday.

When will I receive my travel documents?

Travel documents for AAT Kings guided tours are delivered to the hotel or address you are staying at prior to your tour depending on the tour type chosen. We also provide you with a tour itinerary and arrival instructions by email, once we have all your flight information and personal details.

Who can I expect to travel with on an AAT Kings tour?

With such a diverse range of destinations and touring styles there is no set age or type who travel with AAT, you can expect a wide-range of like-minded travellers. Families with children, young couples, baby boomers, solo travellers, small groups and more can be found on our guided tours. There is certainly no age limit for touring, with children as young as 6 through to seniors travelling, however, the general demographic tends to be over 40. As AAT Kings is sold internationally you will also find that there are people from all over the world on their tours, particularly North Americans, British, Europeans and many Asian nations.

How many other people will I be travelling with?

Depending on the tour you choose and the time of year you are travelling our group sizes can vary from 20 people up to 49 people, so there is a great opportunity to mingle and make new friends.

What is Gold Seal Protection?

Gold Seal Protection is designed to provide you with peace of mind. For $99 per person, should you choose to cancel your guided holiday for any reason, up to 7 days prior to your departure date, AAT Kings will refund your deposit and/or guided holiday payment. Gold Seal Protection must be paid with the deposit and cannot be added at any later date. If you wish for us to include this protection in your quote (additional benefits alos provided - please read), let us know when completing your 'Quote Request'.

Before I depart
Is there a luggage allowance?

Due to limited coach capacity, a single bag is allowed with dimensions not exceeding 30" x 18" x 10" (76 x 46 x 25cm) and weight not exceeding 23kg (50lbs). Carry on hand luggage is restricted to one piece per person, not exceeding 12" x 11" x 6" (30 x 28 x 14cm) to fit under your coach seat or in the small overhead compartment. If you have any concerns with regards to your luggage allowance please contact your Global Journeys consultant.

Do I need to tip my Tour Director, Driver or Driver guide?

While it's not compulsory in Australia or New Zealand, tipping is becoming an increasingly accepted practice in all areas of the service industry, but particularly in restaurants, bars and taxis. Likewise on your AAT Kings tour, if you feel that your Tour Director, Driver or Driver Guide has done an excellent job, then we would recommend tipping up to the equivalent of $5 per day. However, it's not compulsory. It is up to you!

What options do I have if I am travelling alone?

The beauty of travelling with AAT Kings is that you won't be travelling alone. You'll have a group of like-minded travellers and soon to be friends to share in the experience with. They also offer a room matching service on all guided tours (not applicable on Short Breaks) so you don't have to pay a single room supplement. AAT Kings room matching service means they will work to match you with another solo traveller of the same gender, but if they can't, they will provide a single room at no extra cost.

Can I travel with children on AAT King's coach tours?

Yes, they can accommodate children, however they must be over 6 years of age. Children under 18 must be accompanied by an adult. AAT Kings do recommend that people travelling with children consider whether the itinerary is suitable, in particular the activities involved and the duration of the tour to ensure children's comfort.

Can I reserve a seat at the front of the coach?

To allow everyone the opportunity to enjoy seats at the front of the coach, AAT Kings has a seat rotation policy on all their holidays. This means that everyone changes seats daily during the course of the tour, and also means that you have the opportunity to meet new people throughout your journey.

Are the luggage restrictions really strict? What happens if I go over?

Yes! Owing to strict Government vehicle weight restrictions you are allowed one medium size suitcase per person, with dimensions not to exceed H76cm x W46cm x D25cm. The maximum weight of all luggage must not exceed 23kg (50lbs). We suggest you have wheels on your suitcase, as there are certain places where assistance is not available (e.g. airports, railway stations and cruise terminals).

You are also allowed one piece of hand luggage on-board the coach: please note that luggage with an adjustable handle and wheels will not fit in the overhead compartments and cannot be accepted as hand luggage. Alternative arrangements should be made for forwarding excess baggage to the final destination prior to commencing your AAT Kings Holiday.

On the road
Will I have time on my own?

Yes, AAT pride themselves on offering the perfect mix of sightseeing and free time. While many amazing must-see experiences are included, there is also time to shop, explore, relax in a local café or take a walk.

How often do we stop?

On travelling days you will stop every 2 to 3 hours either at a rest stop where you will have access to food and facilities or for sightseeing, activities or free time.

What meals will be served?

On guided holidays many meals such as breakfasts and dinners are included. There are some meals AAT Kings intentionally don’t include, like lunches and some dinners, to give you the flexibility to explore in your free time and try all kinds of local cuisine.

Breakfast is included daily on our guided holidays and generally comprises of cereals, fruit juices and a selection of cooked dishes such as eggs, bacon and sausages, plus, toast, preserves, tea and coffee. Many dinners are also included and always provide choice with either quality buffet or a la carte menu to choose from. Dinner is accompanied by dessert options and tea and coffee.

On guided holidays AAT also include special Highlight Dinners that are an experience in their own right, like a BBQ dinner under the stars at Uluru or a traditional Maori Hangi feast. AAT King's 'You're invited' dining experiences give travellers unique meal experiences, with the opportunity to feel the true essence of a destination through its history, its locals and its produce.

To allow for maximum flexibility and choice, AAT King's Short Breaks packages do not include meals unless specified in the itinerary.

What are Optional Experiences?

AAT have included the must-see and must-do experiences in all their tours but also offer you the ability to customise your tour with a selection of Optional Experiences. Details of Optional Experiences available will be sent with your final documents.

There is no need to pre-book as Optional Experiences are organised by your Travel Director or Driver Guide whilst on tour. Payment is accepted in local currency or by credit card.
