Since its 2010/11 earthquakes, Christchurch has reinvented itself in more ways than one. It's time tonight to meet your Travel Director and travelling companions for drinks. Stay: Ibis Hotel Christchurch

Christchurch is not only rebuilding itself after the devastating 2010/11 earthquakes, but is changing the way architects think about design. Case in point the mind-bending Cathedral, made largely of cardboard, and Turanga, the gold clad central library. You will view these on your city tour.

From here, your outlook is the Canterbury Plains: the turquoise waters of Lake Tekapo, the quaint Church of the Good Shepherd, snow-capped mountains and atmospheric towns. Your Indoor Dark Sky Astronomy Experience at Tekapo, hosted by passionate local specialists, will forever change the way you see the night sky. You'll see for yourself it may be one of the quietest spots on the planet, yet it has one of the busiest skies in the universe. (B/D) Stay: Distinction Heritage Gateway Hotel

Your visit to Clyde will have your camera clicking non-stop. This charming historic town may be small, but it's full of character, with its town centre designated as a historic precinct, featuring buildings from its gold mining past now transformed into cafes and shops. Next, head to Gore, the Country Music capital of New Zealand, before continuing toward Fiordland National Park and stunning Te Anau, nestled on the shores of the South Island's largest lake. Immerse yourself in the serenity - this is as good as it gets. (B/D) Stay: Distinction Luxmore Hotel

From the moment you step outside today, nature rules. Your route through Fiordland National Park is an intoxicating union of beech forests, alluvial flats, meadows and mirror-like lakes. Gin-clear rivers carve the countryside, with all roads leading to Milford Sound/Piopiotahi. Venture out into the pristine fiord on an included sightseeing cruise for awe-inspiring scenery with towering cliffs, tumbling waterfalls and abundant wildlife. (B)

Follow state Highway 6, winding along the edge of Lake Wakatipu, the Devil's Staircase from Kingston to Queenstown is a breathtaking stretch of road with a combination of lake and Mountain views. Visit the historic gold rush village of Arrowtown, where you can wander the streets, lined with trees and character-filled boutiques, then continue to Queenstown for your two-night stay in the adventure capital of New Zealand.

Tonight, glide across Lake Wakatipu aboard the historic TSS Earnslaw to Walter Peak High Country Farm for a gourmet barbecue dinner and farm show. (B/D) Stay: Copthorne Hotel and Resort Queenstown

Take today at your own pace; you won't be lost for things to do in Queenstown. Like adventure? Feel the wind in your hair on the high-octane jet boat ride, perhaps. There's a reason why Queenstown is known as the "Adventure Capital of the World". Nature lover? Discover some of New Zealand's feathered friends at a wildlife centre. (B)

Try and keep count of today's lakes. Leaving Lake Wakatipu behind. But Lake Dunstan awaits, as do its orchards. Pause to refuel on flavour-packed stone fruit. Then there's Lake Hawea. Over the Haast Pass to the town of Franz Josef/Waiau, where, this afternoon you may choose to fly over Franz Josef Glacier/Ka Roimata o Hine Hukatere. (B/D) Stay: Scenic Hotel Franz Josef Glacier

Swap snow for pounamu (native greenstone or jade) in Hokitika. Just when you thought your adventure couldn't get any better, you'll board the TranzAlpine train bound for Christchurch, through tunnels and over viaducts with panoramic views of snow-capped peaks, icy rivers, beech forests, gorges and river valleys. Join your Travel Director tonight for drinks and dinner to celebrate your week touring New Zealand's South Island. (B/D) Stay: Ibis Hotel Christchurch

New Zealand's South Island never fails to wow. We hope you find the words to describe this epic New Zealand tour to your family back home. (B)

It was fantastic doing a coach tour 3 , NSW, Australia, Nov 2014
It was fantastic doing a coach tour. I got to see so much more while learning about the area and places of interest. Met some amazing prople on the tour also but still able to do your own thing if you choose..Was a great experience and would certainly do another tour and book with Global Journeys as they kept me informed all the way and took care of read more everything on my behalf. Would definitely recommend it.
Really enjoyed the trip 1 , Australia, Sep 2014
Really enjoyed the trip. Well organised from airport transfer to every day activities. Tour director Lu and driver Paul are very patient, knowledgeable and with sense of humour. Excellent experience with AAT Kings and Global Journeys.
Very happy with the coach tour experience in the South Island 2 , Australia, Dec 2013
Both Kerry and myself were very happy with the coach tour experience in the South Island of New Zealand. Everything was so well organised from the moment we stepped off the plane at Christchurch. We were met by an AAT Kings representative and driven to the hotel where we joined the other tourists for the induction meeting. There we met our Tour Guide, read more Ted, who proved to be a mine of information through the whole tour. We didn't have to look at Google because he new everything that was asked of him. He was passionate about his country and it showed with his enthusiasm. Also a good rapport with the driver. All the hotels along the way were adequate for this type of trip and the breakfasts were standard. The scenery was as you'd expect - fantastic, along with some of the activities that were laid on. Queenstown was probably the highlight for us and the steamship cruise to the farm for that awesome buffet barbecue. Definitely money well spent and looking forward to the next trip. Thank you Global Journeys and AAT Kings.
A wonderful experience with a good group of people 2 , Australia, Oct 2012
There was some discussion amongst our tour group about the claim of a nine day tour. The first day we were picked up from the airport and taken to a hotel. We briefly met the tour guide and had a drink with others on the tour. On the ninth day we departed the hotel at 0900 for the airport. I feel it is stretching it a bit to claim both those days as read more tour days. Other than that, a wonderful experience with a good group of people. Our tour guide and driver were excellent and very knowledgeable.
Would definitely book through Global Journeys again 3 , Australia, May 2012
Great places to visit, accommodation and food very good. Tour guide and coach driver excellent. Pace of trip was very good and the coach was very clean and comfortable. Only criticism would be that 2 roadhouse stops were very rushed, would have worked much better to have stopped in nearby towns and not being advised that ATMs did not take all cards read more at Fox Glacier, which did cause some passengers concern. Our tour consultant Kirby was excellent and very helpful and efficient. Would definitely book through Global Journeys again.
Every minute was enjoyable 1 , Australia, Jan 2011
Amazing trip, so much packed into a short time but every minute enjoyable. Tour staff so knowledgeable and so happy to talk about places they have probably seen a million times. Hotels all great. A most beautiful country and heart breaking when we left to see what had happened to Christchurch. Thank you all so much for everything.
Tour and arrangements were great 1 , Australia, Nov 2010
Tour and arrangements were great. Pre and post accommodation at Ibis Christchurch was good. Robin Duncan our tour leader had a knowledge and friendliness unsurpassed. Tumati our driver was excellent. We enjoyed the company of fellow travellers and extra tours offered. Fox Glacier Hotel? We didn't like it, but overall everything was fine. Many thanks read more to Georgie Walpole who made our arrangements over the computer. We hope to be back!
