Scotland Tour delivers 2 , QLD, Australia, Jun 2023
This was my 3rd tour that I've booked with Georgie at Global Journeys (and first Globus tour). There were 35 people on this tour including 6 solo travellers of which I was 1. Very professional and informative Tour Director Kaeleigh and safe driver Alistair. Some hotel rooms I had a single bed in a small room. Outside of Glasgow and Edinburgh the hotels ...read more were of a basic standard. However, clean rooms and hot showers. Breakfasts not nearly as good as those in Europe on my 2 Cosmos tours. Lots of included 3 course dinners of varying quality. The islands were my highlight: Orkney, Skye, Mull and Iona. We visited quite a few castles and did see a few Highland cows! Weather in Scotland was cold, wet, sunny, really 4 seasons in 1 day - you learnt to be prepared for all weather!
This was a thorough tour of Scotland and all things Scottish.
Scottish Adventure 0 , QLD, Australia, Jul 2022
Our Globus tour of Scotland was wonderful with perfect weather for us to enjoy the stunning scenery. The highlands and isles were our favourite places and, while very different to each other, they both offered glorious vistas and many ‘wow’ moments. The telling of the history by our guide Gavin was enlightening and the many special Scottish moments ...read more added to a perfect holiday. We rate our tour group as ‘the best we have ever travelled with’ everyone always on time and friendly.
Scottish Highlands 11 , New Zealand, Sep 2018
A great trip. It was really good to have two night stays. Our tour director was a living, walking history book with a great sense of humour, and a great deal of sensitivity to customer needs. 14 days gave a very good taste of the Highlands, enough to plan a future trip of more depth. The coach was very comfortable and the driving unbelievably good. ...read more Some areas were really tight, but our driver had them under control. Add on excursions were excellent. I would do another tour with Cosmos without hesitation.
Absolutely fabulous tour 19 , NSW, Australia, Aug 2017
We can highly recommend booking a Globus tour through Global Journeys. Hannah, our travel agent, kept us up to date with our booking details and replied quickly to all our questions. Our tour went without a hitch - Matthew our tour guide and Alastair the driver were fabulous, friendly and funny. The commentary was very interesting with lots of humour. ...read more We made many new friends and the whole group was friendly.

Spectacular scenery, great excursions, despite some early starts it was well worth it because we would arrive before places got extra crowded, and in some places it had been arranged that we could enter before opening time - a real bonus in peak holiday season. The itinerary was great with a good variety of castles, scenery, highlands and islands. We would have no hesitation in recommending both Global Journeys and Globus Tours.
Wonderful Trip 10 , New Zealand, Jul 2017
This was a very memorable trip the tour guide (Margery) and the driver (Mark) were excellent, their knowledge of the country and its history was very informative. I would recommend this tour to people wanting to experience the cities and a large area of the country side. We enjoyed the optional excursions especially the night out in Edinburgh at the ...read more Scottish Evening Dinner - great entertainment, I would love to do it again. The position of the Hotels was great giving us an opportunity go out at night to enjoy the night life.
Scotland! 9 , NSW, Australia, May 2017
Scotland should be on everyone's bucket list! Scenery was outstanding & we were very lucky with the weather with only a few days of rain. We travelled in May.
Recommend this tour to mobile people of any age 13 , WA, Australia, Aug 2015
Our tour guide, John, was very knowledgeable and humorous. He also knew when to leave us in peace. Like any coach tour, timings were regimented and our group was exceptionally prompt. We were very lucky with the weather and were able to get lots of photos with plenty of stops. John was very upfront about the upcoming accommodation, explaining why some ...read more might be less appealing, so we had no surprises. The itinerary was great having a least a couple of nights at each location and being able to do our own thing for at least part of each day. Would recommend this tour to mobile people of any age.
Loved every minute of it 3 , WA, Australia, Aug 2015
Absolutely fabulous tour. Loved every minute of it. Scotland is beautiful and steeped in so much history. Fantastic tour guide Pieter. He was so full of knowledge.
The tour director and driver were excellent 2 , WA, Australia, May 2015
The tour director and driver were excellent. The coach party were all friendly and responded to John's (tour director) request to be on time for departures at morning, lunch and other stops. We were disappointed to get single beds in all hotels, except one, after requesting double and not twin beds. All rooms were clean and comfortable. We did not ...read more realise that the tour would be so battle orientated, with various guides at different places having their own, sometimes, conflicting views on the battles. We also felt there was a castle overload and not so much about the country and people of Scotland itself. Our visits to the islands went without a hitch and were our main reason for taking this trip. All ferries ran and the occasional rain did not hamper the tour. Although this did not affect us, a fellow traveller who requires gluten free products was not well catered for. When we stopped for lunch in various places, it was difficult to find somewhere to eat which had gluten free food, so she had to opt for just a cup of coffee. The time did not allow for going into too many cafes to find out if they supplied gluten free food. Ken and some others, felt that one hour from start of breakfast to departure was not enough time when queuing was involved. Thank you Emily for all your help in organising this trip for us and we have, as you know, also booked our canal cruise - Amsterdam to Budapest - in August with you. We will certainly be contacting you for other trips in the future.
Thoroughly enjoyable holiday 3 , Australia, Sep 2014
The tour of Scotland was a thoroughly enjoyable holiday. Andrew and Hanna both did a great job. Andrew was passionate about his subject, really making the history of Scotland come alive. We had an optional excursion to the pub ceilidh cancelled, so a tour of the Castle of Mey was put in as an offered replacement. It was excellent, one of the more beautiful ...read more castles, and well worth including in preference to the ceilidh. One concern was the lack of safety rails in bathrooms, especially where showers were over the baths. With some older people on these tours, this must be of some concern for them.
Came home feeling we had learnt a lot about Scotland 2 , Australia, Aug 2014
Our Global Journey experience was very good. We came home feeling we had learnt a lot about Scotland. The Optional excursions are well worth doing. Tour pace suited us. 2 nights in one place was ideal. Our Guide Pieter, was very well organised and made the trip interesting and fun. We met people from all over the world. All interesting to talk to. Ages ...read more ranged from about 20 years old through to 80 years old. We would highly recommend Global Journeys.
Tour was not value for money 10 , Australia, Sep 2013
This tour was nowhere near the standard I had come to expect after my tour of Ireland a couple of weeks previously. Several of the hotels were barely even backpacker standard. Cold showers in the morning, toilet which did not work (told it had been fixed - not so). Food was acceptable, service in the hotels very good. Scenery in the Highlands and islands ...read more - fabulous. Need less time in Edinburgh. Driver did a fantastic job. Some of the optional tours disappointing. Tour Guide - very mediocre. Did not give us information we required on several occasions. Was conspicuous by his absence many times. Third time hearing the same stories became very boring. No help with hotel problems. Told us to see the manager. Tour not nearly the value for money that the Ireland tour had been.
I hope Globus keeps this one! 4 , Australia, Sep 2011
Extremely well organised tour. It was our first coach tour with many other people, so we were a little apprehensive at first. But it all worked very well, thanks mainly to the work of the tour director, Megan. She made the travel, accommodation, meal organisation, stops along the way all go very smoothly. This tour, around the Scottish Highlands & Islands, ...read more is a winner! Magnificent scenery everywhere, interesting visits to castles, abbeys, palaces, ruins & towns/cities. The mix of people was ok - Americans, Canadians and a few of us Aussies all got on well, all 44 of us! Our driver - Danny - was thoroughly professional in his demeanour, and skilled in his driving. The way in which he manoeuvred the large coach around numerous narrow roads in the north of Scotland was extraordinary. And he didn't get us lost once! The coach was always clean and we felt safe in his care. Megan was calm, caring, informative and entertaining throughout. When sickness began striking people down over a few days, she did what she could to alleviate concerns, keep everybody positive and show concern for the sickies. Apparently no other companies do such a tour - I hope Globus keeps this one! We all saw places that we wouldn't have seen on our own, and there was plenty of opportunity to admire the spectacular scenery. All accommodation was excellent - we seemed mostly to have large rooms, often with good views. Meals that were included as part of the tour, were generally very good, with enough choices for everyone. I'm sure we will look at doing another Globus tour soon. We would certainly recommend this tour, without hesitation.
See parts of Scotland not easily accessible to solo travelers 3 , Australia, Jun 2011
I had a great time on my tour. It covered a diverse range of the Scottish landscape with interesting visits to a range of historical sites. The tour director was well organized and helpful as well as providing interesting commentaries during our travels. The driver was the best. I would recommend this tour to anyone wanting to see parts of Scotland ...read more not easily accessible to the solo traveler and the islands.
