...read more turned on a snowstorm at the Athabasca Glacier. We saw a record 23 bears and plenty of other local wildlife. All our hotel accommodation was better than expected and although it might have been more convenient to have breakfast included, there were always many other options. Weather conditions forced the cancellation of several optional excursions but our payments were promptly refunded. In fact, the main reason for our tour being so successful was due in no small part to our tour guide Vedrana Ashcroft, and driver, Jim. Both were experts in their fields but went above and beyond the call of duty to ensure everyone's needs were met, cheerfully and competently. Vedrana was very compassionate to two passengers requiring medical intervention, as well as the many others on the coach who went down with flu-like symptoms, thanks to one who was overly enthusiastic about sharing his germs with everyone on board, myself included. Maybe a good spray of Glen 20 every morning might have helped prevent the spread! That aside, I'd happily front up for a third Cosmos tour anywhere, any time.
