Relaxing trip taking in the sights and life of The Mekong 6 Vietnam and Cambodia Highlights , WA, Australia, Feb 2018
Wonderful service and booking experience with Georgie and team at Global Journeys, Thank you!

The 8 Day Mekong River Cruise was enjoyable and relaxing. A good mix of on shore excursions and relax time to enjoy the scenery. RV Amalotus is very comfortable, the staff and crew were very friendly and nice to see that they enjoy working on the ship. read more The food and drinks were good quality and plentiful. Shore excursions were well organised with very knowledgeable local guides. The overall cost of cruise a little pricey as excursions were not extravagant. Overall a very enjoyable holiday.
Brilliant, scintillating Antarctica   5 Antarctic Voyage , WA, Australia, Jan 2018
Antarctica - you must visit and soon and no better than with APT and Ponant. The ship was first class, the meals delicious and plentiful and the ‘free’ bar tempting. As a small ship, the Le Lyrial catered for the varied passenger list, all of whom were easy to liaise with and share experiences.

The expedition, yes expedition and not a holiday, was read more challenging for some as the twice daily zodiac trips to the mainland involved a dressing up/layering against the cold and somewhat difficult landings (no warm water and soft white sand). The naturalists, experts in a variety of animal, plant, mammal, fish fields, made the trip. Their enthusiasm in their fields excited the passengers to enjoy and learn while away. A visit to Port Lockroy, the British Antarctic station is a bonus. My only concern was pre-expedition in Buenos Aires where several meals were missing, something not encountered with our previous APT trip in Europe.

Global Journeys, our travel agent, were delightful and promptly helpful.
Excellent Trip. APT and Global Journeys were great! 2 Vietnam and Cambodia Discovery , NSW, Australia, Jan 2018
APT provide excellent tours. We had a great time! The booking experience with Madeline at Global Journeys was perfect - better than booking with a local travel agent.
Antarctica and Peru   1 , VIC, Australia, Jan 2018
The Ponant cruise of Antarctica was excellent. Efficient management of daily tours by zodiacs to fascinating locations. Pristine environments and wildlife. Food, service and accommodation on the ship was also wonderful.

The land component in Peru was a delight as well. Of course we expected to be impressed by Machu Picchu, but there was so much more. read more Our wonderful local guide, Juan Jose, was full of info about Maras, Moray, the sacred valley, Cusco, and so very much more.

Our only niggle was the convoluted flights between different legs of the trip. Spent too much time waiting in airports! We started our trip in Buenos Aires and before we left from Cusco we had been on five internal flights. Also did not like being restricted by APT to using only Latam to get to South America. Other travellers used different airlines! Overall the cruise and land component of the trip were excellent, just a couple of things with APT were a bit iffy.
Classic Antarctica   1 Antarctic Voyage , WA, Australia, Jan 2018
We had an amazing trip. Beautiful breathtaking scenery, wonderful interaction with the fauna (penguins, seals, whales, orcas), visiting historically significant sites, Port Lockroy, Danco Island, as well as experienced experts as guides and superior accommodation aboard the Ponant cruise expedition ship Le Lyrial. APT and Global Journeys assisted in read more making this a once in a life time memorable experience.
Best of South America   2 , QLD, Australia, Jan 2018
Whilst all sites were outstanding, the cruise to Antarctica and Machu Picchu were by far superior.
The cruise was excellent with the ratio of staff to fellow travelers just about one to one.
Fabulous Experience 9 Magnificent Europe , WA, Australia, Dec 2017
This was the holiday that simply had it all. Great accommodation, fabulous food and brilliantly coordinated tours and activities. We enjoyed every part of this holiday. We were very well looked after by the crew of the AmaVenita from Cruise Director Daniella and Hotel Manager Marcel, these two (assisted by their great staff) were fun and entertaining, read more yet highly professional. It is hard to know how any other cruise director and hotel manager could have done a better job, but we hope to find out in the future. Thanks also to Hannah from Global Journeys for working through our options with us.
Revisit Vietnam & Explore Cambodia 4 Best of Vietnam and Cambodia , QLD, Australia, Nov 2017
Our last trip to Vietnam was in 2003, so it was interesting to see the changes and to re-look at Vietnam nearly 15 years on. The combination of Vietnam from south to the north linked with Siem Reap and a river cruise back to our starting point, was a good overall journey, starting with a small group and building numbers as others linked in along the trip.
Myanmar - Maybe a country of great problems but a top venue to tour 4 , New Zealand, Oct 2017
We are very experienced travelers often to intrepid destinations. Our Irrawaddy River cruise was right up there with the best. Very happy but impoverished people who get on with life with a smile on their faces. Conditions and pollution really third world. They appear to be unaware of events in other areas of the country. Have been basically under Military read more rule for so long most know nothing else to compare it with.

Recommend Myanmar as a tourist destination if you don't mind seeing what real life can be like. River cruising was a way to experience this without the possible problems of land travel.
WOW Factor 10 Magnificent Europe , QLD, Australia, Oct 2017
The APT Amsterdam to Budapest cruise on the AmaBella is expensive, but provides passengers with a wonderful experience of life along the Rhine, Maine and Danube Rivers. The meals and accommodation on board are probably equal to other river cruise ships, but APTs Signature Tours: dinner at Namedy Castle, rail trip to Salzburg on the Majestic Imperator read more and classical concert at the Palais Liechtenstein are what sets APT apart. The onboard staff were excellent, all shore excursions ran like clockwork, with informative and friendly guides. This trip should not be missed. It is truly a memorable experience.
Incredible Tour 4 , QLD, Australia, Sep 2017
This tour was fantastic. It was a big group but that didn't matter. Every city we visited had something unique and interesting about it. It took a while before we saw some really good fall colour but when we did we couldn't stop being amazed by it. The accommodation was mostly amazing, as were the meals. Our tour guide, Lisa was one of the most read more amazing tour guides we have ever had. She took great care of us and was very knowledgeable. We highly recommend this tour.
African adventure by a couple of 50 year olds!   4 , QLD, Australia, Sep 2017
We loved every moment of our African tour with APT, from the moment we booked with Global Journeys, to our flight home with Singapore Airlines, and everything in between. Highlights for us included the game drives at Kirkman's Kamp where we saw the Big Five several times over, the 2 nights spent on the luxurious Zambezi Queen along the Chobe River, read more and our Devil's Pool experience in Zambia, where we swam out to the edge at the top of the Victoria Falls. It was lovely to share our journey with a group of like-minded travellers and a tour guide who ensured our days were well organised and trouble free. Even on the longer travel days, there was always a game drive or a special dinner to look forward to. This trip is certainly up there with the best holidays we've ever had!
Great Interesting Tour 2 , QLD, Australia, Sep 2017
We had a great time on this tour with a small group of 13. Our itinerary had to be changed because of a hurricane but the alternative itinerary was wonderful and very well organised by APT. We appreciated APT's foresight in keeping us safe by avoiding the bad weather. Washington and New York were our favourite cities and we would like to spend time read more there one day. All the hotels except one were of exceptional quality as were most of the provided meals.
Everyday was a highlight   1 Horizontal Falls and Kimberley Complete , Vic, Australia, Aug 2017
Our Kimberley trip was amazing. We had an Excellent group of traveling companions who got on really well and all were fit enough to take part in all the activities. The accommodation and meals were first class and our guide was efficient, knowledgeable and friendly. We thought all the young people who worked at the eco lodges were first rate. Everyday read more was a highlight.

Our only regret was that we didn't have enough time in Broome to actually see or experience Broome, apart fro Cable Beach. We didn't even get to see beyond the resort there either, or to enjoy what the resort had to offer. With the benefit of hindsight, we should have gone a day earlier, or flown directly to Broom from Melbourne rather than via Perth, as others did. Going via Perth took up a day each way, instead of just 5 hours each way. I would think people should be advised of this.
Wonderful trip. 5 Rockies Explorer and Alaska Cruise , VIC, Australia, Aug 2017
Both Canada and Alaska parts were great. It is very hard to put out one thing cause everything was just wonderful. The group of fellow passengers were great and there was no trouble with anyone and the mix of people were great. Global Journeys were a great help with everything we need. Thank you so much.
Takes the cake! 7 Rockies Odyssey and Alaska Cruise , NSW, Australia, Aug 2017
We have had 8 overseas cruises and land trips and can say without doubt this APT Canada and Alaska 22 day holiday takes the cake. Cruise Director Willo Jones impressed with her knowledge of history and British Columbia and was most helpful in all aspects. A credit to APT. The APT staff on our Holland America cruise were excellent ambassadors. All in read more all a great trip made even more enjoyable by interaction between fellow travellers.
This trip was brilliant and the scenery was truly amazing. 3 Rockies Odyssey and Alaska Cruise , VIC, Australia, Aug 2017
This is our first time with APT and would definitely travel with them again. Most of our accommodation was first class as was the beautiful food, great tour director (Jennet) and the driver (Mark) they really added to the enjoyment of the trip. We would have preferred a smaller tour group, however having said that the organisation went so smoothly, read more it really wasn't a problem. This is our first time with Global journeys with Yvonne and I would definitely book through them again as the service was excellent, nothing was too much trouble.
Comfort and convenience. 6 Douro Delights , WA, Australia, Aug 2017
All went well, and according to plan. Happy with communication and arrangements. Perhaps a little more help in organising free time when docked would be helpful.
Enjoyable sightseeing of France 10 , ACT, Australia, Aug 2017
We enjoyed our sightseeing of France very much, but the cruising on AmaCello and AmaLyra itself was quite average. The majority of guests on both ships AmaCello and AmaLyra were from Australia. There were three couples from NZ and some from UK. The food onboard both the ships was about average. While AmaLyra provided better quality food, the service read more was much slower.

The Tour Director undertook his work well. We always enjoyed his port talks every day before dinner, discussing the activities for the following day. The talks were lively, entertaining and informative. We encountered some bad experiences, which we will describe briefly below, from the time we made the booking through to the end of our trip. We have travelled with APT 6 times, but now we are very hesitant to travel with them again.

Our tour booking included flights from Australia and back. There was a couple of months delay in APT issuing our air tickets after we paid for our tour in full. Our Global Journeys agent and us were all anxious that we might not be able to get tickets to fly. On check-in, our cabin on AmaLyra was not cleaned thoroughly. We had to clear rubbish left in drawers by previous guests. A few days prior to the scheduled special lunch on the Eiffel Tower, we got a letter in our cabin informing us that the lunch was cancelled because APT could not obtain tickets for it. In its place we were provided with a cruising lunch on the Seine River. APT blamed the Eiffel Tower Administration Office for the cancellation.

When we made the booking for the tour, we told APT that we did not want to go to the Moulin Rouge dinner & show which was part of the tour, so APT offered us 50 EURO per person to go and dine independently in Paris and we would receive that money from the Tour Director. The offer was documented in our Booking Advice and also re-confirmed by APT in their email to Global Journeys prior to our departure. When we spoke to the Tour Director about the offer, he had no knowledge of it and he told us that it was not APT's policy to make such an offer. However we insisted that the written offer should be honored. A few days after, the Tour Director advised us APT would honor the offer. Even though the issue was resolved eventually, we were not very happy with the whole situation.

APT fellow travellers and we had issues with the check-in and room cleaning at the APT Post-tour hotel in Paris, Hotel du Collectionneur Arc de Triomphe. The APT local representative in Paris, Rachel, is fully aware of the issues. Even though the hotel check-in time was 3PM, we considered ourselves more lucky than some others when we were allocated a room soon after 3PM. Some were still in the lobby after 5 PM waiting for their rooms to become available. However, our happiness was short-lived as we discovered that our room only had a sofa bed, not a proper bed. We did not expect to pay A$700.00 a night to sleep on a sofa bed. Rachel came to our room, took some photos to send back to APT and then spoke to the hotel about the room conditions. Fortunately, the problem was soon resolved and we were given a room with a proper bed. On the following day, we received a written apology note from the hotel. However, our problems with the hotel did not end there. Our room was not cleaned on the next day. We spoke to the hotel 3 times and also to Rachel without success. That night after dinner, we managed to have our dirty towels exchanged for some fresh ones, and to have shampoo and shower gel re-supplied. This was completely not acceptable for a five star hotel.
We were able to really get a feel for the Kimberley   2 Kimberley Complete , NSW, Australia, Aug 2017
The trip was excellent. We were able to really get a feel for the Kimberley. Food on the trip was excellent - better in the lodges than even Cable Beach. Walks were a little challenging due to terrain but always rewarded with a wonderful swim. A little downtime at the wilderness lodges would have been great but not at the expense of seeing all the sights.
