Lifou is the largest island in the archipelago of coral atolls known as the Loyalty Islands. Since the surrounding sea is a protected marine sanctuary, visitors will be enchanted by views of colourful marine life and pristine coral reefs. The highlights for me were spending time lazing on a lounge in a place called Turtle Bay which is something that was not offered by the cruise ship itself, swimming in one of the blue lagoons, visiting the caves of Jokin, and spending time and swimming at Mystery Island. Having a free laundromat facility was a huge plus.
The problems that we had were that for some reason we had some insects in the room at night and even though I complained, nothing was done about it. In addition, we had a water pipe that broke in our corridor outside our room on more than one occasion that meant that we had to have a heater noisily trying to dry the carpets outside the room. Overall, I was grateful that we had a balcony stateroom so we could avoid the noise in the corridor for several days. One issue that really hit hard was the age and immobility of so many of the passengers. I've never seen that many outside a nursing home. Overall, I enjoyed the cruise and the destinations and again I am pleased with Global Journeys and with Hannah in booking this cruise.
