Itinerary

Hosgeldinz. Welcome to Turkey! Your Gallipoli pilgrimage starts early this morning, so you might want to consider staying an extra day either side of this trip. You’ll be picked up from the Manesol Galata Hotel at 6 am, then travel by minibus to Eceabat. After a light lunch, take a fully guided tour on the Battle Fields of the Gallipoli Peninsula. You’ll see Brighton Beach, ANZAC Cove, the ANZAC Commemorative Site, Ariburnu & Beach Cemetery, the Mehmetcik Statue, the Lone Pine Australian Memorial, Johnston's Jolly (Turkish and Allied trenches and tunnels), Quinn's Post, The Nek and Walker's Ridge, and the Chunuk Bair New Zealand Memorial. The battle at Gallipoli in WW1 is seen as the turning point in the history of Australia, New Zealand and the Republic of Turkey. The names of ANZAC Cove, the Nek and Lone Pine have a special place in the hearts of Antipodeans and you’ll be struck by the beauty and serenity of the place, in stark contrast to the stories your guide will tell you of the events that unfolded here. Hear more stories of heroism and camaraderie and maybe visit the war graves to seek out those from your town. Tonight, stay in Canakkale in a local bed and breakfast and reflect on all you have learnt. (L)

Today you have a free morning in Canakkale. Consider taking a guided tour of the historical site of Troy, where you can learn about the famous archaeological site and see a replica statue of the Trojan Horse. Then, delve into the interesting eras of Troy and discover how this settlement transformed over time. If you opt for this tour, it will conclude at 5:30 pm, when your transfer returns to Istanbul. This service will be door to door at which point this trip finishes. Arrival back into Istanbul is scheduled around 11:30 pm. (B)

Gallipoli/Troy 1 , NSW, Australia, Nov 2025
Considering the distance from Istanbul to the Anzac sites (5 hours on a mini bus), it was absolutely fabulous. Pickup smooth, trip smooth, comfort stop half way, lunch plentiful, transition to guide smooth. 12 on our bus, Australian, Kiwi, Canadians. Our guide for the afternoon’s tour of WW1 sites was Burak, and he was pure gold. We stayed on for the read more second day (others headed straight back to Istanbul). Gorgeous half hour across the Dardanelles to the delightful surprise of Canakkale. Staff transitioning us across and to our hotel fantastic. We then bar hopped our night away and met the most wonderful Turkish people. Çanakkale was fantastic. Slow morning. Cafe hopped. Short (25 min) bus ride to the ruins of Troy - it was nice, but that’s all. Back across the Dardanelles and to our hotel in Istanbul by 9.30pm, which was ahead of schedule. If you must see Gallipoli, you also must have a night out in Canakkale. Glad we did it.
