Itinerary

Arrive in time for a 1 pm welcome meeting and safety briefing. Spend the night in Croatian waters. Please try to arrive at the meeting point before 1 pm for an important group meeting where you can meet the Chief Experience Officer (CEO), skipper, and the other group members. On our Montenegro sailing trip the G Adventures Skipper/CEO will help you make a food kitty, where 500 HRK (Croatian Kuna) per person, per week will be added to the kitty for small food items on board to cover breakfasts, lunches and the odd dinner. Breakfasts and lunches are prepared by yourself, and most dinners are taken ashore at local restaurants.

Spend a full day sailing south to Herceg Novi, Montenegro. The best beaches in this scenic area are only accessible by boat.

  • Herceg Novi Beach Visit: If relaxing is your style, the beaches of Herceg Novi offer a great escape. There are also local mud therapy spas nearby, so test out the natural healing properties of the area's sand if you like.

  • Tito's Villa Tour: Visit the Villa of Yugoslavia's larger than life president, Josip Broz Tito. Renowned for his high class tastes, he built this Villa as a luxurious getaway at one of his favorite places in Yugoslavia, Herceg Novi. Tour the lush grounds and learn more of this bombastic politician. Depending on the time of year, visit the nearby Christian Orthodox Monastery to gain a deeper insight into the local culture. (15-25 EUR per person)
  • Kotor - Tivat Inland Tour: Tour the twin cities of Kotor and Tivat, with visits to the town of Cetinje and Lovcen National park. This tour is a perfect chance to explore inland and experience all the varied environments and historical architecture Montenegro has to offer. Tour includes all transportation and tickets.

Sail to the Budva Riviera. Explore some of the most beautiful beaches in the area, nestled beneath the cliffs of Spas Hill. Well-known as the regional capital of nightlife, there no shortage of clubs along the seaside promenade. Soak up the sun on the many picturesque rocky and sandy beaches of Budva, or explore the Old Town filled with history and monuments. In the evening take your pick of the many bars and restaurants along the Riviera and enjoy a drink watching the sunset over the crystal blue waters.

  • Budva Riviera Visit: With a 35km (22 mi) coast, the Budva Riviera is among the most beautiful coasts in the world. Take some time to unwind and explore the many rocky and sandy beaches, including Mogren beach nestled beneath the cliffs of Spa Hills.

Enjoy a day for snorkelling and swimming in the crystal-clear waters near the village of Bigovo. Enjoy the feel of this small fishing village.

Continue sailing to the ancient Mediterranean port of Kotor. Part of a UNESCO World Heritage Site, enjoy the limestone cliffs overhanging this submerged river canyon.

  • Kotor City Exploration: Take some time to explore this picturesque town surrounded by a walled fortress built by the Republic of Venice. Kotor has a Mediterranean feel to it and the bay offers a stunning backdrop for photographs.

Enjoy the town of Tivat. Opt to visit the city, the botanical gardens or a number of monuments. or just continue relaxing on its lovely beaches.

  • Buća-Luković Museum & Gallery: Get up close and personal to this former aristocratic summer residence once belonging to Kotor's Bua family. The 500-year-old fortified enclosure comes with it's own Catholic chapel, solid stone defensive towers and a gallery and ethnographical museum with fishing and farming artifacts.
  • Tivat Botanical Gardens: Marvel in Tivat's botanical gardens. All the plants and tree species planted in the garden were gifts from Bokan sailors who brought back a wide variety of exotic species from their overseas voyages.

Sail back to Dubrovnik and stop by the dramatic city walls for a photo op.

  • Dubrovnik City Wall Walk: Opt to take a walking tour or head out on your own to explore the city's ancient walls. A trip to Dubrovnik isn't complete without doing this 2km (1.1 mi) walk. See highlights along the way that include Fort Minceta, Fort St. John, Fort Lawrence, Fort Revelin, and St. Luke’s Tower. There are three main entrances to the city walls, the principal one located by the Inner Pile Gates.

Free morning to explore Dubrovnik. Enjoy a nightcap with new crew mates on the boat and get to know fellow passengers. Spend the morning exploring Dubrovnik and meet back at 4pm for an important group meeting with your new Chief Experience Officer (CEO), skipper, and the other group members. The boat will be departing soon after the arrival meeting.

  • Sailing Welcome Meeting: Welcome aboard! Before setting sail meet the skipper and the rest of the group at a welcome meeting. Your skipper should be easy to spot in a G Adventures shirt or with a G Adventures flag at the skipper table.

While traveling the Dalmatian coast by sailboat, explore ancient Roman ruins and discover secluded beaches. Opt to hike through the national park in Mljet that inspired Odysseus for years or take a tour of the UNESCO World Heritage sites of Dubrovnik, which offer insight into Croatian culture and architecture. Anchor in the quiet bay of Milna, Hvar, and opt to experience the vibrant night life on land. Explore the beaches as the tide comes in and shifts their shape. Take your time to wander the charming streets of Korčula, a Mediterranean gem rich in history and beauty. Discover a maze of stone alleyways, dotted with churches, monasteries, elegant fountains, and lively piazzas, all wrapped in the island’s distinct Venetian flair. Our 16m (54 ft) nimble yacht is the perfect platform to explore the gorgeous Adriatic islands. Flexibility is key to adapt to local weather conditions, and the skipper will modify the itinerary to our advantage while sailing. Possible stops include: Mljet, Korčula, and Hvar.

  • Mljet Island Excursion: Stay active on Mljet, well known for being a perfect place for hiking, biking, and swimming. Soak in the island's stunning scenery and peaceful atmosphere. This lushly forested island is so seductive, it's said that Odysseus came and stayed for seven years. Take a guided tour of the Mljet National Park, or bask in the green waters by the rocks.
  • Hvar Island Excursion: Head out to explore Hvar, a definite must-see and UNESCO World Heritage site. Enjoy some amazing beaches, nightlife, pop and classical music concerts, and festivals in the city that have inspired many Croatian writers and artists. This island truly has it all!
  • Korčula Island Excursion: Ride across the water to Marco Polo’s place of birth, Korčula, a typical medieval walled Dalmatian city and one of the Adriatic’s most lush green islands. Indulge yourself on this historic island and forget about the world around you. Discover the caves and secluded beaches that make this an attractive destination for exploration.

  • Hvar Island - Starigrad to Hvar Tour: Hop on your included transportation, with your first stop at Napoleon Fort for the best view of the surrounding islands, followed by a stop at Spanish fort (Fortica) where you can opt to buy a ticket and go in. Take a guided, scenic walk down to Hvar town through the botanical garden and stoney streets of this medieval town, with some free time to explore before driving back through the old UNESCO protected agricultural field of the ancient greeks. The last stop of the day is for dinner at a local family farm which includes a three course meal with drinks.
  • Vis Island Military Tour: The Island of Vis has been an important stronghold for countless generals for millennia. Though peace now reigns on the island, there still exists a multitude of landmarks left over, such as gun emplacements and a large network of secret tunnels dug by the Yugoslav army. This tour will take you across the island with guided stops at all the must-see attractions.
  • Mljet Island National Park: Visit the natural wonder that is Mljet National Park. Covering the entire north west portion of Mljet island, there is a multitude of hiking trails and mountains to explore. For those looking to expand their adventures, bikes can be rented for 70 HRK for 4 hours, double kayaks for 60 HRK or a single canoe for 40 HRK. (15-25 EUR per person)
  • Mljet Island Cave of Odysseus: Visit one of the most iconic caves on the entire Adriatic Sea. Enter from either the land or a tunnel from the sea, and marvel at the bright spectrum of colors created by the sun refracting into the water from outside. Explore the large vault of the cave, and take a swim in its refreshing waters before you leave.

Weigh anchor early morning for the last passage to Trogir. Before crossing the Brač Channel, find a picturesque inlet to enjoy lunch before entering the marina in Trogir. Enjoy the last night aboard, or join the rest of the group for a group dinner while reminiscing about the epic journey through the Adriatic Sea.

  • Free Time: Take your time to wander the charming streets of Trogir, a beautifully preserved UNESCO protected old town steeped in history is a living museum of stone architecture, narrow alleyways, and charming squares. You can explore Romanesque churches, Renaissance palaces, and lively waterfront promenades. Trogir’s blend of history, culture, and coastal beauty makes it a perfect stop for a relaxed stroll, a sunset drink, or an unforgettable evening soaking in centuries of Mediterranean charm.

Disembark the ship in the morning after breakfast. Then, enjoy an included transfer from Trogir to the Hotel Corner in Split where the tour ends on arrival. If you would like extra time in Split after the sailing journey is finished, we recommend booking extra time.

  • A NOTE REGARDING SMALL SPACES ON SAILBOATS: - Please note that the rooming for these boats is assigned upon arrival and neither particular cabins, nor berths can be guaranteed. You will be sharing a bunk or double bed with your travel partner or one of your fellow passengers of the same sex and sharing the bathrooms onboard. - Please be aware that as this is a real sailboat and not a cruise vessel and the space on board is tight. The sleeping quarters on sailboats are generally kept to a minimum size in order to maximize public space and performance. - It may be possible to smell engine and/or diesel fumes when in the cabins, due to their proximity to the engine room. Most travel is done during the day, so it is unlikely you will be in the cabin when the engine is running. - Some people are not comfortable with the type of close quarter arrangements typically found on sailboats, however if a real sailing experience on a real sailboat is what you are after, then this experience should more than make up for cramped quarters. - Opportunities to sleep in open air on main deck are often available. - Please note that the skipper may also be sharing the ship's quarters and amenities with you. - Power onboard is 220V on European 2 pin sockets. Please note that this is not suitable for sleeping aid machines, as the power source may not always be operating. Bringing a battery pack is recommended.
