Adriatic Adventure: Sail Croatia & Montenegro Discovery

Arrival day. Your flights must arrive no later than 10am in order to make it to the meeting point at the Hotel Corner in Split before 1pm to take advantage of the included group transfer to the marina in Trogir. The welcome meeting and safety briefing will take place onboard before beginning the sailing journey.

Please note, we advise travellers to book flights arriving no later than 10am in order to make it to the meeting point on time. Once at the marina an important group meeting will take place, where you will meet the Chief Experience Officer (CEO) / Skipper, and the other group members. The boat will be departing soon after the arrival meeting. On the Croatia sailing trips, the G Adventures skipper will offer to make a food kitty for small items, such as ice, water, milk, snacks, drinks, and so on. The average amount suggested for the kitty is around EUR70 per person, per week.

While traveling the Dalmatian coast by sailboat, explore ancient Roman ruins and discover secluded beaches. Opt to hike through the national park in Mljet that inspired Odysseus for years or kayak through gorgeous inlets and explore Korčula. Opt to take a tour of the UNESCO World Heritage sites of Dubrovnik, which offer insight into Croatian culture and architecture. Anchor in the quiet bay of Milna, Hvar, and opt to experience the vibrant night life on land. Explore the beaches as the tide comes in and shifts their shape. Enjoy free time to explore the Mediterranean port town of Dubrovnik. The city boasts plenty of churches, monasteries, fountains, and plazas to discover. Our 15m (52 ft) nimble yacht is the perfect platform to explore the gorgeous Adriatic islands. Flexibility is key to adapt to local weather conditions, and the skipper will modify the itinerary to our advantage while sailing. Possible stops include: Hvar, Korčula, Mljet, Ploče, Brač, and Solta.

• Mljet Island Excursion: Stay active on Mljet, well known for being a perfect place for hiking, biking, and swimming. Soak in the island's stunning scenery and peaceful atmosphere. This lushly forested island is so seductive, it's said that Odysseus came and stayed for seven years. Take a guided tour of the Mljet National Park, or bask in the green waters by the rocks.
• Brač Island Excursion: Head to Brač Island to explore its coastline and beaches, and play in crystal clear waters. Have a barbeque lunch on a deserted beach, visit local vineyards, or go for a refreshing dip in the Mediterranean Sea. Be sure to visit the island's well-known Zlanti Rat beach, where the tides, currents, and wind are constantly shifting the shape of the beach.
• Hvar Island Excursion: Head out to explore Hvar, a definite must-see and UNESCO World Heritage site. Enjoy some amazing beaches, nightlife, pop and classical music concerts, and festivals in the city that have inspired many Croatian writers and artists. This island truly has it all!
• Korčula Island Excursion: Ride across the water to Marco Polo’s place of birth, Korčula, a typical medieval walled Dalmatian city and one of the Adriatic’s most lush green islands. Indulge yourself on this historic island and forget about the world around you. Discover the caves and secluded beaches that make this an attractive destination for exploration.
• Ploče Excursion: Step ashore at this bustling port town on the Adriatic coast for some shopping, or laze at one of its many beautiful beaches. Take a walk along the splendid coastline, and catch up with your fellow travellers in the evening for dinner.

Explore the Mediterranean port town of Dubrovnik. Enjoy the last night aboard, or join the rest of the group for dinner and drinks while reminiscing about the epic journey through the Adriatic Sea.

Disembark and board a minibus this morning, waving goodbye to Croatia (and your Skipper) as you cross into Montenegro. Please note that this segment is unescorted with an english speaking driver who will cross the border with you. Upon arrival into Kotor, settle in and explore with free time and meet with your CEO this evening at the hotel.

Hop on a boat from Kotor's port area and set off on a scenic ride in the Bay of Kotor, seeing a number of small islands and historical sites before arriving to the town of Perast. Spend some time exploring and wandering Perast's old town before returning to Kotor around midday. The rest of the day is free for individual exploration or for optional activities like museum visits or sea kayaking.

• Kotor Maritime Museum: At the Maritime Museum, explore the history, culture and living artifacts that connect modern Kotor with its centuries-old naval traditions. Learn about the Boka Marines, a fraternity of sailors and navigators who helped shipbuilding flourish in the Balkans.
• Sea Kayaking: Head out by sea kayak to fully appreciate this gorgeous area. Start just outside the Old Town walls and explore the coast. Stop at a beach bar for a break or a swim.
• Kotor City Exploration: Take some time to explore this picturesque town surrounded by a walled fortress built by the Republic of Venice. Kotor has a Mediterranean feel to it and the bay offers a stunning backdrop for photographs.

Travel south from Kotor to the coastal seaport town of Budva. Visit the old town on a walk with your CEO then continue inland to visit the striking Ostrog Monasteray, perched high on a mountain cliff face, offering great views from the top. After lunch, pass through Durmitor National Park's rugged landscape and stop at Black Lake for a stroll. Then drive towards Zabljak, a serene natural haven with diverse terrain and forest shade - our stop for the night.

Head out after breakfast and drive to a hidden gem of natural beauty in Montenegro, Biogradska Gora National Park. Spend most of the day in the park, walking with the CEO around the lake and taking in the pristine forest and mountain scenery. After lunch in the park enjoy a bit of free time to rent a boat, a bike or a kayak to further explore the area. In the late afternoon, drive to the nearby town of Kolasin for the night, with an included dinner at our accommodation.

Get picked up at the hotel in the morning by 4x4 vehicles for an unforgettable adventure. Head off-road and explore Montenegro's incredibly beautiful back country while traversing rugged terrain through mountains and forest. After lunch, take a bus south to the capital city of Podgorica and set off on a a walking exploration of the old town, once a medieval stronghold. Enjoy an optional final dinner out with the group in the old town or near the hotel.
